  1. It's Coors Light time here in the Northwest. Got the yard work done, cleaned up the room of sound, otherwise known as my bedroom with some speakers in it, and have cracked a cold one. Weather is near perfect, close to mid 60's, sun with fat white rollers. Cheers all!

    What I Got Today!

Almost everything is throw away anymore.
  3. Kind of what I figured. Hopefully getting some Emotiva gear soon. That will definitely fix the problem..
  4. Do you also go by Pied Piper? I'm old school carpet, 'acoustic ceiling', and she's on wheels. Brings it up about 1 1/2" from the carpet. I put these on it. White walls and four wheel steering. derrickdj1, I believe said that he had put wheels on a sub. Genious, if you ask me. I unplug the Neutrik connector (2 seconds), roll the sub out from it's spot, and can clean, position, with ease. I'm all about the ease...
  5. My wife hasn't gotten used to the one I have now. I ran some frequency tests and when I hit 30 and below, she complained that the whole house was shaking. That was only at 75 db. But, there is plenty of space on the other side of my setup for one. Helps with nulls, gain 3db, looks cooler, hmmmm..
  6. I used a metal version of the square based edition that has 4 mounting holes. Mainly, I used it versus the round one, I bought that one too, was that the terminals were 1/4" on the back of the square one. A little easier to find connectors for. I sealed the square one with a little bit of silicone on the inside of the cabinet to ensure no leaks.
  7. I have an old Marantz SR880U that has a low frequency 'thump' when I change songs on a CD, flip a radio station, etc. I'm not sure, but I believe this is a 'soft filter circuit' that is not functioning correctly. I would like to use the Marantz instead of the as old, or older, Yamaha RX-V590. I always liked the sound of it with my 5.5's. Anyway, I know neither receiver is really worth anything, but was wondering if anyone knew how to repair it, how much it would cost to repair, or if it's even worth repairing. This is only for a 2 channel setup so I'm not worried about HT factors. Anyway, thanks in advance.

So, how many other politicians can we put in this plane?

Agreed. I just wish I had something to post here. Maybe in the next couple of months..

    What I Got Today!

@USNRET - So, you know climate. I've never served in the armed forces, my Grandfather and Uncle were Navy men, but to me Navy was Sea, Land, and Air. So, if they had you land based, that's where they needed you, no questions. Nothing wrong with that.

    What I Got Today!

Yeah, but a Montana winter for you would be like a Texas summer for me. I've been in 24 below with no wind chill here, at mile high in Butte. Believe me it's not fun. Kind of like the humidity you guys get there, I would be dying. Question though, did you ever serve on the Nimitz? A buddy of mine's Dad was head of air traffic control and the fire department on it back in high school. We got the grand tour when it was docked in Bremerton, WA. What a vessel. Standing on the flight deck was unreal. Just don't lean back to far when climbing the ladders, those darn hang bars will realign your neck for you. Don't ask me how I know.

    What I Got Today!

@dtr20 - I'm with BlueHusky79. I'd love to hear some reviews of that Monoprice unit. What are you running with it? I'm just wondering if something like that would be good as an entry level tube amp to see what I've been missing.

    What I Got Today!

A1UC is in Wisconsin, not Texas, or is it texas, just to remind 'y'all'. Montana's not so bad, where I'm at the next couple of days, for steaks either. A lot of ranches here. Our cattle though are seasoned, literally, always interesting to see a cattle drive running up one of the passes in the middle of Winter. I want to see some Texan cowboys drive cattle in subfreezing weather in a snow storm. Git-R-Done.
  14. I concur. I've done cable swaps and as long as it is pure copper, not CCA, it sounds great. Pay attention to gauge, considering length from source, and all will be well. You want to spend hundreds on cables, be my guest. If the placebo affect suits you enjoy. Sometimes, you can't over-complicate what works. It's like adding a big wing to the back of your Honda, it's not going to make you go any faster.
  15. Welcome to the world of Klipsch. After awhile, you'll see why my so many are followers. They'll make you want to open your wallet though.
  16. Agreed. Ah, to be single, young, and feisty again. Maybe in my next life...
  17. Looks like three times the fun compared to your average bar. I need to go there.
  18. Another thought, if you end up looking at smaller enclosures for space limitations, try and find a ported/vented sub. They will typically have a stronger bottom end than a similar sized sealed cabinet.
  19. Not at all. I would chose the largest sub you can fit. The main things when considering a sub are frequency response, size if limited on placement options, power, and price. You can customize the response/volume to fit your space. If you go too small you'll be lacking on the lower end, especially if you make the switch to 5.1.
  20. Agreed. We don't go anywhere on these weekends. Too many people. I wait for a non-holiday weekend.

    new here

Ouch. Don't think anyone was going there. Get out in the sun for a bit, take in some Vitamin D, it'll cheer you up. This forum is for all levels, that's what makes it great.
  22. I'm looking at doing the exact same thing. Replacing an old Yamaha receiver with that setup. It's simple in function, has bluetooth capability, phono stages, etc. The amp looks pretty good to me at 150x2, Torodial transformer, plenty of power. Plus there's not any extra garbage in the preamp for running a 2 channel setup. A-300 is supposed to be in at the end of June I believe.
  23. Sweet thing is you just did it again but you didn't get busted. Unless, you wanted to..
  24. Jumping in here, but I want to know if the other poster deserved it?
