  1. You boys & girls on board for another roller coaster ride today? DJIA looks to open down a quick -300. Amazon & Google posted disappointing earnings after yesterdays close giving everyone an excuse to sell. Strap in, it's going to be a bumpy ride.
  2. The Sawx seem to score runs in bunches. Great hitting so far with 2 outs. They did not win 108 games this season by accident.
  3. Coytee, why would this idiot admit to owning $23 million in gold to a stranger? ($1228 per oz x 16 oz per lb x 1200. As you know any sale of precious metals in excess of $10, 000 must be reported to the IRS for tax purposes. Nice capital gains!
  4. Right now the DJIA is +300 points. There are many different reasons why the stock market has sold off. A rising interest enviroment, over valuations of the tech sector and FANG stocks, (Facebook, Apple, Netflix, Google), a slowing world economy, the China/US tariff/trade war, political uncertainty of the upcoming elections here in the States, will the Dems take the House and or Senate or both? Brexit, tensions with Russia, well you get the idea. All of this culminates in uncertainty, which is the one thing market participants hate. This adds up to a sell signal for the momentum and high frequency traders to let their algorithms run wild and sell, sell, sell. We are in one of the longest running bull markets in history, those that invested following the housing debacle and the collapse of Lehman Brothers and Bear Stearns have been handsomely rewarded. The press making noise about higher rates seem to have forgotten that we are in an artificially low rate enviroment engineered by the Fed. Having the yield on the 30 year US treasury bond at 3 3/8ths% is not normal. Checked the interest on your savings account lately? 1/4 of a percent doesn't pay very much. Corrections in the stock market like we have been experiencing are to be expected and are good for the market, they put in a new floor of support for the next leg up, if there is one. The one recommendation I would say is that if you have a floating rate mortgage you should lock in a fixed rate one now. Rates like these were last seen during the Eisenhower administration. The trend towards higher rates seems to be in place with the Fed signaling another possible rate hike at the December FOMC meeting and 4 more hikes in 2019. One thing that will have a great impact on all markets is if the US and China can come to some sort of trade agreement, which will help smooth out some of the geo-political tensions between the two countries. Take a look at a chart of the Shanghai exchange if you want to look at what a real correction looks like. As they say "The trend is your friend."
  5. Hot Fun in the Summertime, Dance To the Music, Everyday People, You Can Make it if You Try, Stand!, Sing a Simple Song, etc. If you don't dig Sly & The Family Stone, well, there is no hope for you.
  6. Wow! I didn't know I could speak Italian, Fantastico!!! Enjoy your stereo.
  7. Glad to hear you like the combo of Rotel & your Klipsch speakers. I use Rotel Amps in both of my main rigs and they sound great with both my Chorus II & Forte speakers.
  8. Here is my prediction for the rest of the college football season, the playoffs will be screwed up again and 1 or more undefeated teams will get shut out of them. Time to expand to 8 teams.
  9. A quarter keg of Pabst Blue Ribbon was $16 during my freshman year in college, you do the math.
  10. They will have both games on. Outdoor bar with tent flaps if it cools off. Belly up to the bar for some cocktails and good seafood and enjoy the games. I am looking forward to it. Besides, my nephew gave me a gift certificate for staying at our house, which will help ease the pain when the bill comes!
  11. Stanford #7 vs Notre Dame # 8. The wife and I are joining another couple and going to a bar/restaurant to watch both this & the OSU PSU game, they will be on at the same time, 7:30. My neice goes to ND & their daughter goes to PSU, so we will have some rooting interest.
  12. At least in this forum you will receive advice and consent, there is plenty of good advice and we are more than able to help you spend your money. Welcome aboard.
  13. My sister-in-laws folks live on Pawley's Island, they evacuated for Florence, went home and now had to evacuate again as the floodwaters have continued to rise. This disaster is far from over for some folks.
  14. SSH, My wife and I saw this show when it ran here on Broadway in NYC. It was very good. The musicians and singers were top notch. Well worth your while. Some good background info regarding Sun Records/Sam Phillips as well. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
  15. I have been at work for the last 2 1/2 hours. 9:30 am here in NYC.

    NFL - 2018

The Texan's running game got eaten up by "Snacks" Harrison! For the Giants, defensive end Kerry Wynn had a great game.

    NFL - 2018

The Giants finally won their first game of the season at the expense of the Texans. JJ Watt had a monster game, where was Clowney? Giants defense did a good job of containing Watson and their dangerous receivers. Odell and Saquon did what they were supposed to, and Eli when given time threw the ball beautifully. The G-Men might end up with a winning record but I do not see them as a playoff team. Given their schedule, 8-8 seems pretty likely.

    F'ing mosquitos

A buddy if mine did a bike tour in Alaska, he said the mosquitos up there were so tough they had packs of Marlboros rolled up in their sleeves.
  19. On my Chorus IIs I put in new crossovers and titanium diaphragms into the tweeters, very easy to do. While my Chorus sounded good as they were, I got a significant improvement in the sound quality with the Crites treatment. I did the same, plus a new diaphragm into the midrange on my Forte and was very pleased with the result there as well. As many people have said in these parts, enjoy the speakers as they are for a while before you decide to make any changes. When you are ready, Bob is a great guy to deal with.
  20. Bob Crites builds upgraded new Crossovers for Klipsch speakers, he also sells upgrade crossover kits for folks with some skills. His tweeter diaphragm replacement part is a very worthwhile investment. Worth checking out, I am very happy with the results after dropping in new crossovers and diaphragms.
  21. It's not heresy, it's just my opinion. No need to be insulting. MMurg, you missed WVU80 sarcasm there! He was making a reference the the Klipsch HERESY speakers. Some things are lost in keyboard translation. WVU80 is one of the good guys around here. As a long time Chorus II speaker owner all I can say is enjoy, I think they are fantastic and are my favorite of the Klipsch speakers I own. Welcome to the forum.
  22. True! In the afternoon BLT's pair nicely with a bottle of Rose.
  23. The wife made "BLT's" for breakfast yesterday, fantastic. Homemade Gazpacho on deck for tonight's dinner, I love tomatoes. PS: BLT's are a little known cure for hangovers, try it next time you are banged up.
  24. I just added a pair of Klipsch XB-10 to the collection, always liked the angled look of them. They will be replacing a pair of KSB 1.1 that I use in a quasi surround capacity, albeit 2 channel. I also use them to guage the volume of my outdoor AW 525 speakers as they have similiar ratings. As will the XB 10. I will drop them in this weekend to see how they compare.
  25. How about "WATER MUSIC" by George Frideric Handel? Yeah, Yeah I know it is a collection of suites but I always liked that piece.
