  1. Wireless Corns?!!!!! Now that would be HUGE!!!! (pun intended)!!!!
  2. I'm more interested in seeing if these will help satisfy Moray James. A "Heritage" in a semi-modern style tower. Pretty interesting. I've never liked the light colored cane grills but most of the Heritage guys will love them. The black grill looks better IMO. Well, whether they satisfy James is yet to be seen. I'd like to see the specs if possible (I doubt that they are ready for reveal yet). They've got a nice look - but I'm like others on here - remove the grills please - I wanna see what ya workin' with here.
  3. Ah, so that explains why we saw photos of both ways. That's what prompted my question . I was confused there for a minute.
  4. We are planning an addon and an in-cabinet model. I'm unsure about sizes/pricing at this time. Cool!
  5. Chad, question....is the Atmos speaker an add-on? If not, will an add-on be offered?
  6. I've already stated that I think the line will do well. Klipsch will sell a lot of these products. There's no foreseeable failure in them. What I do believe Moray is trying to convey is the upscale models are not receiving a lot of attention as of late. Just like the gap in earnings in the U.S. there's also a wide gap between the high end and mid-high end (almost to the point that the mid doesn't exist anymore). You have your big boys (Magico, Accapella, YG Acoustics, and the like), the next level (Legacy, Dynaudio, B&W), your indies (which can compete with the Next level guys except they don't turn out as many speakers due to production facilities and labor), and then you have the usual suspects (which range from HTIB - to some down right good speakers). A company gets to a point where it realizes that it can no longer be all things to all people. Klipsch has speakers that will compete in all of these "divisions" or classes. The Palladium and Heritages are for the big boy/next level class. The Heritages also compete in the indie class due to fact that they are now custom. However the trend at Klipsch is moving into the usual suspects range - that's where your profit margins are at. Klipsch, Polk, and Def Tech have done well to stay above the fray, but its catching up to all of them. Infinity still exist - but it appears to be invisible, JBL has focused on its professional lines. Everyone is looking for their sweet spot and I believe this is what Moray James is really trying to say. I'd really like to know how many Palladium speakers have been sold since their introduction? How many new Heritage? I can see both sides of this camp. Moray is expressing how he feels as an audiophile, while Klipsch is looking at the big picture which has a bottom line....make that crop (that means make money). I made a statement earlier about how long will the current Palladium and Heritage lines last in this type of environment, especially when your real money makers are at much lower price point.
  7. I'd add Palladium to that list myself - but yes, Heritage and Pro/Cinema satisfies my itch very well!!! I hate to say this but I just might have hit the wall.....I'm.....satisfied?!!!!!! I can't believe it!!!!!
  8. I read an article (can't seem to find it now however). Someone form Klipsch was stating that the low end market was ultra competitive and that they would concentrate more on upper level speakers where profit margins are greater. Specifics weren't given however. Wish I could find it. When they said upper level - I think they're talking more like mid level (pricing wise)...but even that level has become "ultra competitive". The $1k speaker that performs like a $3K speaker is very competitive indeed!
  9. I was ready to get my Cornwalls up for sale........I think I'll just keep 'em. I will listen to the new RF's when available for demo though. So this is the new "revolution"? As I've said before - a lot of speakers will be sold, that's the end game of business. If Steve Mejias was still writing for Stereophile - they might get a review in his canceled column "The Entry Level". Will the Reference III series be carried by B&M dealers only or by Best Buy, Amazon, and Newegg? I will remain optimistic as to the success of this series (as I believe it will be very successful). I do wonder where is Klipsch headed in the new high-end market (Palladium, Heritage), will it abandon it (the high-end) all together?
  10. I just found out and i'm moved to tears! Prayers to the Family both natural (Alex) and the Klipsch Forum!
  11. That's a very very very competitive market right there (especially with surrounds that cost more than some of your floor-standers). Companies in this price point include Andrew Jones/Pioneer, Wharfedale Diamond, Magnepan, and Definitive Technology. That's a hard row to hoe right there. I hope they sound better than the previous Reference series to consumers, because if they don't - even with the tech innovations, the Reference line may have taken a step backwards were relevance is concerned. The whole Wi-Fi craze is really one of convenience (such as streaming vs BD), if this is the marketing ploy...yes they will sell a whole lot of speakers (hold on to your RF-7II's they just might achieve a cult type following like the Heritage series). It's good to see them get into the Atmos game - but at what cost and who is the target consumer for Atmos right now? This will tell us a lot about the direction Klipsch will be going in. Palladium, Heritage....are plans being made there? If not - that may just be the plan. The jury is still out, but money will be made from somewhere.
  12. It seems like a new Reference, I don't know how that will take Klipsch back to its "roots". I guess that's why some of us are hoping for a renewed Heritage. V***i Audio has made a big splash making PWK inspired designs. Our very own Bob Crites has carved out a very good niche as well as others. The desire for large speakers still exist in the high-end market and horns have become popular again. The Asian and European markets can't get enough of horns (ask TAD, JBL, Accapella, and others). The US market has seen a horn revival as well. A new Reference seemed to target the same audience that was always targeted  . That market is highly competitive and has reached market saturation (Polk, Wharfedale, Def Tech, I could keep going). If it is a new reference - there would have to be something that sets it apart (beryllium horn drivers - maybe DSP active crossovers ? Just sayin' something other than cooper drivers and new veneers). With the signs from dealers getting rid of stock - it's pointing to a new Reference series alright, let's hope it's really something special (pun unintended).
  13. My speculation....new Heritage series with all new horns and crossovers, add matched center and rear speakers (with an Atmos option). The clue is back to its roots....$2.5k to $10k, etc..... Have any of us looked at the trend in the High End lately? What we used to call expensive ($2k -$5k) has become the fastest growing segment of industry!!!! Klipsch knows this, but can hardly get a whiff from a reviewer! These speakers (IMHO) will refresh the Classic Heritage, made in the US, and will feature new innards. This will give the Audio snobs something new to gawk at (seeing that horns are now regaining popularity and no longer have the typical horn sound). Klipsch saw that others have gained rave reviews from designs inspired by Klipsch ... Now they want a piece of that tasty pie!!! Book it !!!! If I'm wrong.....forget the book :rotfl: !!!!!
  14. Windows is all I've ever had and it's been good to me. If I were to switch to a mac mini for my music streaming, what would be better about it....or is it just a preference? I think its just preference. I actually run a Windows machine (JRiver and I do all of my room correction using FIR and IIR filters - along with PEQ's - this is my main machine). My content is held on a 12TB server running NAS4free which is Linux based. I have no problem listening to my music...wherever I go, I can access it anywhere! My Windows machine actually serves as the preamp for my system. I've used iTunes and it doesn't handle all of the lossless file types that I use. If I did own a Mac (and I do own an iPad - but it's just a quick internet machine for me) - I'd have to use Pure Music or JRiver for MAC, I wouldn't use just iTunes. Pure Music runs in conjunction with iTunes and includes a stripped down Dirac EQ, JRiver has a slew of audio options and makes iTunes insignificant..IMHO, and that's all it is ... my opinion. It's all about preference.
  15. 10-4...Just fyi...The chromebox runs Chrome OS not Windows . However the Mac mini makes more sense for you because you're firmly entrenched into iTunes. There's nothing Microsoft about a chromebox though . Tell us how it works out when you get your mini - If i see anyone selling one, I'll ref you to them.
  16. Are you sure you want a Mac Mini? Many people are buying the Asus-CHROMEBOX-M004U. I know a few people that got rid of their minis for the Chromeboxes. What are you planing to do with it?
  17. Not mine http://pensacola.craigslist.org/ele/4775282974.html I've contacted the owner to let her know more about the speakers. The speakers belong to her husband currently in a nursing home. She means to say that they have the metal horns, not cones. The woofer is indeed the original Klipsch woofer. The speakers have basic nicks for a pair of Hersey 1's.
  18. Good advise thanks How do they sound with Music Pro?
  19. I don't have much (don't let the HT fool you ) ...but I'm going to pitch in tomorrow! I'm in for helping people. Gotta add this - I remember selling my entire HT (in '97) to feed my family and help a friend feed his. It's taken 15 years to get back (this time I bought everything used). Every bit helps, and you sound like a proud - hard working man Joe! Hopefully you won't have to go through what I did! Bravo Zulu for hanging tough!!!!
  20. Hang in there Joe! Our prayers are with you.
  21. Be advised...the Onkyo receivers are the only ones that are HDCP 2.2 compliant....meaning if you upgrade to 4k-uhd - you won't have to buy a new receiver!
  22. i don't think there is a heresy 1.5 Colter just made that up There are some people that call the Heresy with the type E-II crossover the Heresy 1.5.
  23. Those "knock-offs" have a direct link to PWK as they were made with his permission. The guy that designed them was a good friend of PWK. The owner actually has some genuine Khorns as well (sold some Walnut Belles a few months ago). I think because of the rarity and the documented history of this particular pair of speakers is why he's asking so much for them. Too rich for my blood, but they are beautiful!
