  1. Glad you like it, Gary. Now for a little history. The chimney charcoal starter was invented right here in my little hometown of Corinth by Garner Byers. The original patent,http://www.freepatentsonline.com/3116704.pdf'> http://www.freepatentsonline.com/3116704.pdf lists Garner and Lavaughn Johnson as the inventors. The next patent (click the pdf) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chimney_starter'> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chimney_starter adds Hugh King as a co-inventor. The inventor was actually Byers, who was a sort of mad scientist with things mechanical and who went on to form Tyrone Hydralics Inc. after he had amassed a good bit of money from this little invention. Johnson, as it was told to me was the money man to start things off. Hughes came into the picture after they contracted out the actual manufacturing from him. He was a machinist and evidently made a few improvements which the second patent reflects. He later formed Hughes Manufacturing and Engineering. As an aside to all this is that some years after Byers death, I was able to see his workshop which was on the second floor of a building downtown. It was a staggering experience, around 2500 sq. ft. of just amazing things in various stages of development. The thing that stuck in my mind was that at some point he had made out of wood a working model of what I recognized as a Wankel rotary engine. I have no idea if this was his idea or just something he had read about and wanted to see how it worked. It had a hand crank and when you turned it, everything went around and the rotors functioned with an almost silk like movement. And now you know the rest of the story...with apologies to Paul. 2. Christy, I like "sappy posts". Every now and then we need a sappy moment in our lives, just to cope with the barrage from CNN, FOX,ABC, CBS, NBC and all the other funnels of crap and hatred that we receive daily. As far as riff-raff is concerned, I'm sure that my soon-to-be (any day now) ex-wife of 33 years would disagree. I got the sappy genome from somewhere and highly recommend it to anyone. Randall
  3. Mike, check the spam folder in your email. I don't click on links in email.
  4. Do you have an open, full height PCI slot? If so I "might" have a soundblaster card laying around here somewhere. If I can find it and you do have an open slot, you're welcome to it for the price of shipping. I'll try to find it this weekend. I don't have any setup disks for it, but I doubt you would need any. Let me know.
  5. Ace, Thanks for putting me on the map. BTW, when I zoom in far enough (the pin position changes as you drill further in) and go to the satellite view, I find that I'm hiding in the woods next to our satellite prison. Close to a railroad too. I'm happy where I am and glad I'm not about 100 yards North[H]
  6. Sooo...how do you prepare them West Texas style? I got's to know.
  7. If you're not happy now, do you see anything in the future that might change your feelings? I'd send 'em back, even though shipping may be high. I've bought things on the bay that If I could have returned them, I would have. Just my 2 cents.
  8. And after 6 months, there ARE real forms of justice available to every American. You just gotta do what you should do.
  9. Forgive me for being "dense". Is adding the 15/16 ohm resistor and the tap changes applicable to an E-2 network as well as as the type E crossover? I have the H1.5's and would like to try out the mod, if I'm not gonna screw anything up. BTW, I've already replaced the caps. Thanks, Guys
  10. It is a da&n shame, I´m with him in his boat!!! Woe be it that I would catch the guy that would do that to someone I loved. I´d probably do like the guy in the movie 7 and think of the worst way to punish him. Rapists and child molesters are under every sicko slimebag that there is! I hope the brother catches him first!!! And if the brother goes to trial, I'd LOVE to be on THAT jury.
  11. A couple of .308's would seem to be in order.[Y][H]
  12. Those green stamps are still in use...sorta. http://www.greenpoints.com/account/act_default.asp '> http://www.greenpoints.com/account/act_default.asp Does anyone remember when the Standard Coffee man made his route stop at your house? Sold coffee and various kitchen sundries. Also had candy[Y], VERY EXCITING. Randall
  13. Good Luck Harry!!! Dennie I'm rooting for you too, Harry. If for no other reason than seeing pics of them at night with those light bulbs lit up.
  14. Or, maybe, a bad Greg Norman avatar[8o|] Randall
  15. Glad to know it wasn't region specific. Nowadays, we'd be in family court. Seemed to have worked on me though.
  16. Good to know you've got your priorities in good order.[H] Now, go outside and break me off a switch! (If you're over 50 and from the South, you know what that means.)

  18. I got a buddy that drinks his warm. And while it does hit you quicker, it's everyone concensus that he does it so we won't drink HIS beer.....He's right! My "Being Laid-Off Beer"? Beast Light, aka as Milwaukee's Best Light. $3.25 for a six pack of tall boys. When I'm working, Michelob Light. Hey, I'm a simple guy.
  19. You might want to check with Noah. He had some K-33's he was willing to sell a few days ago. This would probably be your best option. Noah is well known on this forum and will do you right. Link to K-33's.... http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/t/128915.aspx
  20. Willy, I'm 57 and the tradition in my neck of the woods, as told to me by my great aunt about 50 years ago was this: Blackeyed peas for luck. Greens...turnip, mustard, or collard...does't matter, for money. Ham hock, fatback, hog jowl for the meat. It should always be a "cheaper cut". The reason for the cheaper cuts was to "not put on airs", either to God or our neighbors. A pork roast would be sacrilage. NOT that your's is, I know everyones traditions vary so don't be offended. I personally love fatback, fried crisp for nibbling on while eating the veggies, and cook my greens down with a ham hock thrown in. The peas can be prepared anyway you like, hoppinjohn is great. And while cornbread is optional for the tradition, it's not optional at my table. Candied yams round out the meal. Vinegar pepper sauce(not tabasco) on the side. If you're out and about New Years, c'mon down, your welcome at my table. You DO need a bigger pot.[]
  21. I use HI's without a sub. Mine are '84's with woofers from the HII's(they came from the factory like that during the transition over to the HII's) and new caps bought from BEC. I sealed the backs with weatherstripping and have all the bass I need, That being said, I mainly use them for 2 channel music with limited use for HT. I have hardwood floors and they're tilted up slightly. Running a Sansui G-8000. I have thought about a sub while watching movies, but for music, I'm a very happy camper.
  22. Bob, you would probably find someone in Colo. if you would put your post over in the Garage sale. It's very Heritage friendly. BTW, yeah you WILL like the Cornscalas. No doubt!!
  23. Randall, it's so easy, even I can do it! Unless you're using a Mac Safari browser, that is. The forum does not work well with Safari (I use Firefox). So, highlight the text you want to be a link ,then click on the little "chain link" image above the message box in which you're writing. A box will pop up. Type in (or paste) the URL of the web page you want to link to into the box appropriately called "URL link," then hit "insert." It's easy! Thanks FINI, here we go...TEST http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/t/110684.aspx and with another good how to thread. Again thx to Marshall aka groomslake.
