  1. I have the same one and a decent cartridge (can't remember which one, but I'll look) and it's done well for me, but my last turntable was a Revox and that was many years ago so I couldn't tell you how it compares to some of the others out there.
  2. They sure are, I had to throw the first two back []I'm happy with the purchase and if it pukes in 5 years I'm covered and 5 years from now I'll probably be looking at what's available then.
  3. That's correct, it was Miami I think the final score was like 9-6 and Miami came in shooting off about how they were going to run all over Penn State and had some huge PPG average and that's not how it all turned out.
  4. Sounds like you already have the PS3 ready to go if you have HDMI cable pulled and if so, you do need to get a receiver with HDMI.
  5. Where are you located so we can see who's close to you? I got into Klipsch about 3 years ago and purchased a used pair of RF 7's based only on what I had read about them, but that seems like so many speakers ago. If you don't like those, I'm sure we can reel you in with something else; this site is like a really sticky fly trap that costs a lot of money so you're being smart by treading carefully.[] Welcome to the forum.
  6. I have removed the backs from Cornwall 2's that were glued and fastened on with the use of a heat gun and hydraulic jacks and pry bars and I'm going to tell you that I did this more to prove it could be done than it was the only way to accomplish what I wanted so I am going to strongly suggest that you leave them on and deal with refinishing them in place. On the other hand, if you just have to do it, here's what me and a few cases of Coors light did. Note these were plywood constructed not MDF. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/t/133091.aspx?PageIndex=1
  7. There's no screen burn in or I wouldn't have purchased it, it's covered for 5 years including screen burn in as well as picture degradation, but hey, way to be positive. [Y]
  8. A new TCP58VT25 and 3D pack and pany BDT210 Blu Ray..........................I knew she was a keeper but I'm a lucky guy indeed! Here's the deal we made; went to HHGreg to look at a 60 pany TCP60S30 that was on sale through today for $1,100; great deal for a very good plasma but I also want to look at the Mitsubishi 72" DLP, the Pany VT30 and the Samsung D7000 and 8000 and they were all in one location but I have really been leaning toward the Plasma for a lot of reasons based on my TV location and viewing angle from the kitchen and island bar area as well as watching a lot of sports including a ton of NASCAR so considering any LCD came with the price tag of nothing less than 240 refresh rate. We looked at the 60" pany first and got all the setting adjusted back to factory and played with them until I was satisfied and for the $$, I would have been well satisfied with this set as I was not hooked on 3D as a must have, I wanted a good TV without breaking the bank. I then went to the Mitsubishi 72" that could be had for about the same money, but that picture was not for us compared to the 60 Pany so it was off to the 55" Samsung that was in the UN55D8000 for around $2,300 which had a great picture and I've had an opportunity to play with the lower version of this at my future B in laws and even that was a very fine picture but at $1,200 more and 5" smaller than the Pany it was on to the other Pany, the VT30 (55") but that too was more than I really wanted to spend although I fell in love with the picture and IMO, it was much better than the Samsung (huge difference in the blacks). I decided that I would take the deal on the Pany 60" and stick to plasma and be happy; but then we turned around and there she was, the Pany 58VT25 with a hand written tag that said floor model only and a number of $1,800 and let the games begin. I experienced no difference in picture between the VT25 and the VT30 and they both had the best displays in the entire store IMHO (basketball game was on all the units I was looking at and again, I reset everyone that I was considering to try and level the playing field) I really wanted the 58" but put on my poker face and told the salesman that I just thought that was too much for a floor model with tape residue all over the top, no remote and no original manual while Denise kept going, is that a scratch. Here's where we ended up, $1,500 including a 5 year in home full tilt warranty the 3D Blu Ray for $140 and the 3D pack with Avatar for $272 and the remote that should have been with it and a call to the DM to send me an original manual (I know I can download it, but I have a thing about having the actual manual) and 24M SAC. I had them bubble wrap it and it went in the back seat of the truck and it is hooked up and running and I freaking love the picture. What can I say, I have a great future wife that I love too and she said " happy early birthday, this is what I was getting you anyway".[^][Y]
  9. I just heard the announcement that Paterno has passed away and lost the battle with cancer. With all that has transpired in the last few months that news really hit hard. I'll pray for his family as I have for the children that have suffered through the abuse. RIP Joe.
  10. Glad you like the new sub! Very unique and that goes for the amp as well, can't believe all of those built in adjustments and features. Wonder who builds that plate amp for it?
  11. Mr. Obvious's Southern cousin, Mr. O Too chimes in. I would say, buy 2 and have a spare. []
  12. I really wouldn't put the TV on top of the speaker anymore than I would put the speaker's weight directly on top of the TV.
  13. That was entertaining and something I would pay to do, but I would like to add terrorists, rapist and a few others to the mix just to spice it up a bit.
  14. PSG will now be formally know as............Mr. Obvious LOL[Y]
  15. There's no such thing as an invisible plug. I love my Kreg too, as I love my dovetailer, but as I said, no joinery technique is universal. That's why there are so many techniques. I'd be more positive if there won't so many people on the forums giving bad advice. There was no bad advice; the post said I want to drill holes like this and those holes were drilled with a pocket screw jig. I'm not saying that it's for every application, but that was the question.
  16. Why couldn't I have been born with a bigger brain so I wouldn't keep stepping in my own Shi+, just look it's all up between my toes again and it smells bad. If I had arms I could cover my nostrils so I could at least pick the little pieces of corn out, cause I'm kinda hungry. This day couldn't get any worse...................................................HONKkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk, HONkKKKKKK, Honk, Honkkkkkkkkkkkkk, what the hell is that?
  17. I just posted on another thread that the RF 7's are always set to full range with subs. These speakers as well as yours were designed to play well below 80 and IMO, when you take that away, you're taking away a lot from the sound they reproduce.
  18. I would think you choose Hickory because you liked the color and variation in the wood so IMO, to stain it anything medium or dark would defeat the purpose of picking that wood, but you're the one that has to like them.
  19. Mine does with the Onkyo set on double bass, the RF 7's full range which is the only way I can set the doubel base, but as someone else has posted, I too prefer the 7's set on full range and I've tried all the other crossover points and always come back to full.
  20. +1, you have a good budget to work with regardless so once we know that, we'll be able to help that money fly out of your hands.
  21. That was funny, lets just go with most simplest, LOL, the receiver sample is just what I was talking about, nice snag on the amp!
  22. Since a pair of RF-7ii is $3200, does that really change the overall equation significantly in favor of saying that the console is a horrible value? I only said Heresies as its the closest thing Klipsch has to a premium bookshelf at the moment without going to the Palladium line. No, it doesn't change the equation significantly, but without someone complaining, where would we all be.[]
  23. The one thing I noticed about the Sony I have in the shop is that the set up menus were a real PITA, but if you go through the set up from step one to the end, the adjustments you make to the speakers should be saved or you should have the ability to save them so you don't have to adjust them every time you power down. I'm not really familiar with your particular speakers either, but would have to assume that they're pretty efficient since they're Klipsch and having tons of power shouldn't be a major issue for now, just get it adjusted and lets go from there.
  24. Welcome to the forum! I took a quick glance at your receivers specs and is seems like you should be able to adjust the level of your center to match your mains, but you can't adjust your mains down so you'll have to get into your menu and play with the + or - db adjustment for your center and see if that helps. There's no built in testing to run any automatic adjustment that I can see in the specs so I think you're limited to doing it by ear or getting a meter or an ap is available for the i phone from what I understand, but I would first just get into the set up and see if you can dial the center in. I don't know anything about the Sony receivers, even though I have one running in the shop, but I just picked that up because it was cheap and had no intentions on using it for surround, just wanted a receiver for the shop. In the range you're looking to spend, you will have quite a few options and I'm sure you can do fine with Onkyo, Yamaha, Pioneer, Marantz, really there are a lot of choices if you're not happy with what you can do with your current set up but I would really play with that first going through the manual page by page.
