  1. Really is a nice musical sub. I power it with one of those old Crown D45 amps. I keep a small blanket over the top of it to protect the finish.

This is a nice feature with their power company. It's the outage map. Seems to be pretty much a live look at the grid. As you can see, a whole lot of folks still with no power. https://www.etrviewoutage.com/map?state=la

Turns out this is the way to go. Lots of good pictures really make a difference we are finding out. Thanks. Work is starting to happen there. Power still weeks out. That part really sux.
  4. So true. That photo made our local newspaper.
  5. This biggest cause of this is simply the hearing aids are not pushed all the way in the ear. My son says to his grandfather "Papa, push your hearing aids in, they are killing me!"
  6. A neighbor passed away this week to a long kidney related illness. We went to the visitation. People were hugging and shaking hands with their masks on. I don't get that. If you are gonna hug and shake hands, is the mask really doing anything? Weird times, they are.
  7. There are compromises no matter your choice. Think of the senior citizens going bonkers right now staying at home hiding from Corona. My 81 year old father has chosen to keep moving. We are social beings and we need interaction with others.
  8. How long can I go before getting it? Is just about everybody gonna end up with it no matter what we do? Takes like 70% to reach herd resistance. Without a vaccine, isn't this where we are headed?
  9. You deaf guys just need to go 2 way now and be done with it. You don't even need a tweeter anymore.
  10. I'm a convert. Used to think hell naw. Then we went to a restaurant in the next town over the mountain that has a 21" ham/pineapple pizza. Talk about delicious, I'm all about it.

A photo of that 2 car garage I mentioned. I'm calling that a total loss.

Sweet. Can't complain about that. They've told my in-laws it could be as long as a month. It was 15 days after Rita before they got it back.

All out buildings including a 2 car garage gone. All fruit trees gone (1/2 doz were there.) House standing but damaged. It's a big loss for them as they are in their 70s. Like for so many other people, this is tough.

Over 600K without power. Might be a million before this is done.

Friends have not been able to reach it by truck, but apparently a drone has been flown over the property and the house is still standing. Thank you for asking though.

Predicted path a little closer to Beaumont right now than Lake Charles. Both are gonna get a big hit from it for sure. My in-laws lost their home to Rita, so we are real concerned that could happen again.

Lake Charles family headed this way. They'll be staying with us until it's safe to return. Really does look like its going where Rita went. I remember that one all too well. Never will forget the mountain of refrigerators I saw after the storm. Carl, stay safe buddy.
  19. And if you like baseball, how bout a good curve. I've found that caps with higher ESR can sound better than those with lower ESRs. Paul put some magic mouse pee in those old oil cap cans he used back in the day.
  20. Those look like good MIG welders. A person could buy the required mig gun off EBay or Amazon. The Lincoln 256 is rated for 250amps / 40% duty cycle which is a good strong welder. I own several Lincoln mig welders at lower amp ratings and they have been dependable workers for years. I wonder if the seller might have a mig gun/shielding gas/wire so these could be tested before buying. I imagine the control board in one of those would be very expensive to replace if faulty.
  21. Are we reaching the point where we say "I'm tired of this, Let it wash over me. I'll take my very good chances."
