  1. Looks like the good Captain has now graduated to Fortes and Heresy: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1377648805 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1377856916 This guy is like the Langoliers when it comes to gobbling up Klipsch speakers. I fear Wes may be right - looks like his appetite is ever-increasing for larger and larger speakers. I'm envisioning the dog posed in front of a set of Khorns in the not too distant future. Speaking of the dog, Cluless may be on to something. Note that the text accompanying the Heresy ad indicates that the couch is not included. By logical extension, this would imply that the dog is, since he is prominently displayed in the photo. I only play a lawyer on TV, but I think we may have a case. I'm off to the living room to nail down my Chorus' to the floor, lest they wind up in some future Ebay ad with that damm mutt in front of them... C ------------------ My System

  3. Check this out, Academy fans. Someone got a SMOKIN' deal this morning.... http://cgi.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cl.pl?spkrfull&1036017280 C ------------------ My System
  4. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1375734483&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:US:1 Low starting price and a busted tweeter. The latter shouldn't be too hard to repair or replace. Might be something as simple as reattaching the lead to the tweeter (one on mine became detached due to a loose bucking magnet). 7. Panamax Max 1500 and Max 1000 daisychained together. Worth every penny. Lightning storm two weeks ago toasted my one neighbor's phone, and my other neighbor's air conditioning compressor. No problems here (knock on wood). C ------------------ My System This message has been edited by chickey on 08-15-2002 at 09:06 PM

  9. Yeah, but how would you ever form a user name that included you and your spouse's initials and the name of the band as an active verb? "dndstringcheeseincidenting"?? Ouch!! C ------------------ My System

  11. If you're really intent on fixing it, then use rubber cement as opposed to crazy glue. Justin is absolutely right - there is no performance impact of leaving it the way it is. C ------------------ My System

  13. Do you have a headphone jack on your DVD player? If so, shut everything off and listen to the suspect passages through your headphones. If the crackling is still there, disconnect your DVD player from your system and try again. Still there? In my case, this trial and error approach lead me to the conclusion that the problem was more likely the mastering of the DVD than my player. When others reported the same problem at the same time intervals on the suspect DVDs, I was convinced that was the source. Colin ------------------ My System
  14. Mike - Congrats! Sounds like a really nice two channel set-up. I'm sure you'll be pleased. Based on all the talk on this forum about the Rega, I'm seriously thinking about buying a used one myself. I avoid my Sony CD player like the plague these days -- it's a first or second generation player, and it's 18 year old age is only exceeded by its rather hard digital edge. I've taken to playing CDs through my DVD player - much smoother, but certainly nowhere near optimal. What do you folks recommend when considered a Rega Planet? Are the old ones preferable to the newer models? Anything else I should be aware of? Thanks in advance for your advice and guidance. Colin ------------------ My System
  15. I have an M&K MX-100. It's very tight and very musical. But my long term upgrade plans involve adding an SVS as a second sub, as the M&K doesn't have the impact of an SVS for home theater applications. Regards, Colin ------------------ My System

  17. Omnimount 30.0 CA www.omnimount.com The only problem is that Omnimount's mounting bracket doesn't provide for keyhole mounts to match the back of the RS3's. They may have fixed this issue with the latest revamp of their product line, but best to check with them first. 18. Indy - The photo actually resides on my web page - I just put a link to it by clicking the "Insert Image" icon on the editing toolbar. BTW, Emma is a real cutie! Hope this helps, C ------------------ My System This message has been edited by chickey on 07-23-2002 at 12:26 PM
  19. OK, if you look veeeeerrrry closely, you'll see the edge of a Chorus II in the corner. That's obviously the only reason I took this photo. Colin ------------------ My System

  22. KlipschManiac, While others may disagree, certain Carver amps can be a very good match with Klipsch. I run a Carver Lightstar with my mains and several Carver TFM 35x's for my center and surrounds. I believe the 705 is a later generation amp, but was based on much of the research that went into developing the Lightstar. The 705 has been very favorably reviewed, and if I recall posesses a similar sonic signature to the amps I own - somewhat laid back, and very smooth in the mid-range. Whatever you do, stay away from the earlier Carver amps with the magnetic field technology - they are a poor match with Klipsch. And yes, the older Adcoms will sound very grainy and harsh when matched with Klipsch. Hope this helps...just my humble opinion. 23. I run a Carver Lightstar for my mains (Chorus II's) and Carver TFM 35x's for the center and surrounds. These particular Carver models, developed right before Bob left the company and it went defunct, are very smooth in the mids and uppers, and therefore are a good match with my Klipsch. Their sound has often been compared with that of a tube amp - kind of warm and laid back. I really enjoy them. 24. Tom - You should sell the Fortes to me. The KLF's would definitely be an upgrade! All kidding aside, I would take Scott's advice, and find an Academy. IMHO you would NOT be upgrading by going to the KLFs. If you are patient, and with a little luck, you can find an Academy and save yourself some real pocket change. Colin ------------------ My System
  25. Noz - I'm not bidding if that's you're referring to, so not to worry. My contempt is reserved for those who drive up the prices of speakers in the used market for no other apparent reason than pure greed.
