  1. And how do you like it? What tube amp are you running? I run music digitally from my PC to Grant Fidelity DAC-11 DAC (which is both SS and Tubed) most often to my Yamamoto A-08S Amp. The Yamamoto runs two 45 power tubes, two 717A tubes and an 80 Rectifier tube. The Yamamoto is my best sounding amp with my Belle speakers. I think it sounds pretty awesome.
  2. If playing the Woodstock album outdoors you may want to skip past Country Joe McDonald and the Fish.
  3. One of my setups is comprised of: Computer --> external DAC with Vol capability --> SET tube amp.
  4. December 26'th. AKA Boxing Day in The UK and Canada. Best day there to buy.

    Are we alone?

The Mayan's themselves believe their origin is from what is now China.
  6. Are you a collector then? Where'd you find it? What made it rare and desirable? Cost a lot? Or, just heard to find?We don't get many book threads! Sent from my SM-T330NU using Tapatalk I collect nothing and only accumulate 'junk' according to the wife. That applies to everything that occupies space in my home, garage, shed, etc. I have accumulated a pretty extensive history and military history library which is more than 99% non-fiction as I make of point of reading for pleasure every day I can. This particular book is a 1956 1st Edition and has been something I've wanted since seeing the movie Cross of Iron in the late 1970's. The author is believed to have lived through service in Russia as essentially the character 'Corporal Steiner' in the movie. The price on the one I found in Texas was quite reasonable considering the age of the book and the demand for a 1st edition v. a limited supply. I don't expect to sell any of my books in my lifetime and I suspect the large number will be a concern for my future heirs who are all female. The wife has stated a number of times that before she calls for a meat wagon for me she'll arrange for a dumpster for all my 'stuff'. I recommend that an appraisal might be a good idea before she starts tossing. A better investment would probably be the lavishly produced Napoleon Biography written and self-published by Proctor Patterson Jones shown below:
  7. I believe this is probably correct. No originator of an unique recipe ever turns it over complete and unedited. For example, KFC never tasted the same again after the Colonel sold it to PepsiCo years ago.
  8. Most likely 'joined' the Foreign Legion after the war usually arranged by a Magistrate. Lost its cachet some after Vietnam and North Africa. Its one thing to march and die and another to be living like a rat in an underground Hell listening to the Viet Minh tunneling closer every night.
  9. Indiana being the Manitoba of the USA? If so, at least it doesn't have a city named Winterpeg.
  10. You could always have some good Guinness Stout. Until early next year it comes with essence of dried fish bladder for no extra charge. Yum, yum Dried Fish Bladder! see: http://www.popsci.com/how-is-guinness-going-vegan
  11. I believe you are referring to a Frenchman named Guy Sajer (Sajer being either his nom de plum or nom de guerre) who served in the German Army during WWII? If so, I read a book years ago called Soldat that he wrote that may be the same book. Yes & I think you are correct, as far as same book. If so, it was a great read. The author, even if he came from Alsace Lorraine, would have been less than welcome back in post war France.

  13. Anything made by Pioneer in their Elite line are usually excellent players and reasonably priced.
  14. Found this in very good condition after looking for it off and on for years: Same author survived and wrote the story of the German retreat from the Taman Bridgehead during WWII. The subsequent movie was directed by Sam Peckinpah:
  15. You can expect to receive your secret decoder ring and the key to the Executive Head in the mail. Just remember to flush twice after using the toilet there as anyone whose posted more than 4,999 times here is laying it out kind of thick
  16. Is that Blue Bunny or Blue Bell..........................Listeria last I heard was Blue Bell, Pizzed me off to as we had recently discovered Blue Bell after moving to NC, next thing we know none on the shelves, Then the news of all the recalls here......It is still not back on the shelf I just heard the 'blue' in the name and added it to the list of factory made ice cream I won't eat. The chicken sandwich at a local MacDonalds is to blame for this. I ate their chicken sandwich just once when I was young and stupid and found myself so sick at work the next morning with campilobacter that ended with 10 days in hospital that I resolved never to eat fast food or other chicken that I didn't actually cook myself. Since then I've added the Death in the Box chain, and any other chain that prides themselves on cooking large hamburgers as fast food. Just a couple of years back, I added shredded lettuce to my list of no-no's and I suspect the recent outbreak of E.coli 026 illness at a chain down here called Chipolte is indicative of an issue with centrally sourced lettuce or some other pre-processed vegetable. I really hope the E.coli 026 strain that showed up in Germany a few years ago never makes it across the Atlantic but it is only a matter of time before it does.
  17. No need to explain this other than it won't kill you like Blue Bunny and they don't export to Canada:
  18. No 8080db, just a 9090 and a 9090db. So the 9090db holds value more then the 9090? Any TOTL classic receiver will hold its value well. All of the higher-end classic Sansui Receiver's sound great with the kind of build quality you just can't buy in today's equivalent dollars.
  19. First thing is low prices, more affordable tinder if I run out of firewood on a freezing day. All female sale staff aged between 20 and 35 and good looking, if I'm stuck in the equivalent of the Theater of the Inane I need something to look at. A disco ball, to keep me awake A stopped clock on the wall as every minute I spend in a Comic Book Store is a minute I'll never get back. A massive number of History Books for sale as well as one good history book is too many and 10,000 never enough. YMMV.
  20. I've owned a couple of flavors of the Sansui G9000. Great sounding receivers but too much power for the Klipsch speakers I've owned.
  21. I know nothing of bicycles other than for $2,800 I'd like it to come with either a nice looking woman to push me around on it or a motor.

    Are we alone?

And is the absence of evidence, evidence of absence or just incomplete data? Its all circular, like the song that never ends.
