  1. Faital Pro HF10AK + Faital Pro STH100 elliptic horn. you can't find a better-sounding tweeter below 500USD. I mean it. Faital Pro HF108 is also very good with a little less money. for above 1k$ I would suggest Fostex T500AMKII though it's not that easy to cross as low as 5Khz or so. Aurum Cantus G1 is also a 103db efficient ribbon tweeter that sounds damn good if you don't mind using something other than horns. Beyma TPL-200H might also be a good option. just my 0.02$
  2. Just listen some Sonny Boy Williamson songs. "Don't Let Your Right Hand Know" for example
  3. buy yourself a Hypex NCore amplifier and search no more. it simply outperforms amplifiers with tenth times of it's price when it comes to sound quality. it's good enough that I decided to build a chassis for it out of a single piece of solig 6061-T6 Aluminum. After building the power amplifier we just decided to build an identical preamplifier for it with Hypex DLCP (it could be used at a 6 channel active crossover):
  4. Faital Pro 15PR400 and 15FH520. both are light weight woofers. BD15 from Beyma is also a very nice 15 incher
  5. I always use Jantzen Audio Crosscaps. they are the best caps I've ever heard considering the price. Jantzen Superior-Z is also used for tweeters. Sonicaps are also very good but $$$$
  6. I regret why I hadn't done this earlier. it could probably hundred of hours of my time. this thing is superb! I don't know if big speaker manufacturing companies use a similar thing but I'd like to see how they design crossover
  7. Hey guys, You probably know I'm into business here and I have always several speakers in R&D process and I have to design crossovers for them. if you have designed crossover at least once you know what the mess is soldering many parts together on the air and testing different components like caps and inductors and resistors is a pain in the butt when you have to desolder and solder again and will be time-consuming so I just decided to build something. first I decided to design a variable crossover with rotary selectors with a lot of caps and inductors already installed in there but I came to the conclusion that this device will have it's limitations in the matter of slope and order and the caps and inductors and resistors will also play a big role. you know sometimes using two caps with the same capacity from two different vendors will result in some minor difference in the frequency response so I decides to design some blocks with input and output bananna binding posts and some spring-loaded binding posts for connecting caps, inductors you name it. I took me about 30 hours to draw it in Corel Draw I thought maybe it's a good idea to share it in the forum maybe some other dudes will do the same thing or give an initial idea of a similar project. I built 42 blocks for now and it set me back ~300bucks for everything. I'll build more blocks in future if needed. Targets: no soldering needed no limitation in crossover order and slope no mess at the designing table! saving time this is what it looks like in a sample crossover: this crossover consists of seven different blocks as following: input block which takes the signal from measurement device and devides it to three ways (Woofer, Midrange, Tweeter). I thought it's a good idea to have an overall highpass here. I can short it with a piece of wire anyway: a low pass/high pass filter which also works as L-Pad: parallel notch filter: series notch filter: an impedance equalization (Zobel): and an autotransformer stepped attenuator: and output dispatcher board with phase inverting switch for each channel: and here is actual image of one the blocks: and some pictures of parts:
  8. I wish website owners had chosen XenForo instead of IPBoard. it's the most sophisticated forum maker script available in the market.
  9. replacement diaphragm of HF200 is 55USD each for dealers (149$ in US) . I don't have it in stock but I can order it in the up coming order next week. you only pay the actual price + shipping from Iran to US which maybe something around 20-30USD. I'll be able to ship it second week of Sep. hope it helps
  10. I just designed and built an amplifier based on Hypex NCore modules. they just sound out of this world. I wanted to share it with you guys see the full description here: link
  11. Edit: >> Mission compromised due to nonchalance << thread closed×
  12. Altendorf F-45 Elmo is almost finalized. I'm also looking for another machine I thought maybe you guys can help me about it. I want a machine that is capable of winding air core inductors with wires up to AWG#12. I searched and found a American company named Bachi. it seems a well-made heavy duty machine. I've mailed them a couple of times but not replied yet after several months. does anybody have any experience or information about this company? I wish we could buy from them
  13. yes. actually importing fees of brand new machines is 5% but it's 45% for used machines. insanity! yes WA8 is made in China but I like it more than some Felders I worked with. WA80 and F-45 series are made in Germany. F-45 is the best model they build. matter of fact Altendorf is the inventor of sliding-table saw in 1906. Oh man! they have been building such machines since almost a decade before JFK was even born! it's a quite a history IMO Arash,
  14. We also consider Altendorf top-notch model the F-45 Elmo with CNC fences. Oh man! it's a hell of a machine... Terminator! for $42K Datasheet
  15. yes, actually we manufacture speakers in large quantities and table saw and CNC machine are two main tools we use. we build CNC ourselves domestically with HSD spindle which is able to deal with BB plywood. we also need heavy duty table saw for cutting Baltic Birch plywood
  16. Hey guys, I've been working with Altendorf WA8 table saw for past two years with totally satisfactory result. Now we are opening a new store and we are about to buy a new sliding-table panel saw. we checked if Altendorf WA8 is available but no luck at all. Altendorf WA80 is in stock but it will set us back $35K. Felder is also available. its' top model Felder K940S is just $20K. I have a limited experience with Felder and I like it's tools but I always admired Altendorf despite WA8 was a medium range model. Felder seems promising but I'm not sure. I wanted to share it with you maybe someone has more experience with Felder. any idea is much appreciated. this is Altendorf WA8: This is Altendorf WA80 TE ($30K): Link this is Felder K940S ($20K): link
  17. So Arash got his recordings digitally immediately, then was able to get a CD shipped to Iran for $15? That is a great outcome, good work both Neil and Arash! +++ Personal to Arash: I wasn't going to comment on this, but it bothered me that you mentioned further upstream ^^^ that you felt some discrimination from some other sites. I read the internet and I can see how many crappy people there are out there. Discrimination is real especially on the internet. It's just totally unacceptable in any circumstance and I'm sorry you have to be exposed to that. I live in a part of the United States where I don't see any discrimination ever in my personal life against any person. It's just people shopping, attending events, going to school, just simply living their lives every day. I live in a good community and I'm grateful for that. I don't know you personally, but I like the person I've met online. You are welcome in my house anytime. Dave thanks for your kindness. actually I have been banned form diyaudio.com and the reason was "No Iranian member is allowed here" we are really something ain't we? we are not animals because we are doomed to live in poor third world countries. Wow Arash. Keep in mind it's not the community there who are prejudice, it's the leader or leaders. There is no way of knowing what happened in a person's life to make them feel that way. What seems stupid and petty to most may be an extension of deep grieving for another. Still, to ban an entire culture of people because of what may have been the actions of a few is narrow minded. I bet you wish you could somehow enlighten them that you are a great guy. I certainly know you are! thanks dude I was thinking maybe I can find someone who can buy other albums I need regularly and rip them to FLAC and upload them in my VPS and keep the CDs for himself. I don't know maybe 50-100 albums per year. you know I can download many of these albums but I prefer to pay for what I need and not exploit someone's else hard work. I think 50-60 CDs is an interesting offer for one who has the time to do it. a fair deal IMO
  18. Perhaps I need to rethink my participation on that forum. EDIT: I sent a PM to Jason at DiyAudio. I'll share his reply. Please don't bother. you won't get anywhere except their denial excuses. I know some other Iranian guys who are active there anonymously. I also have an account with American nationality so no administrator steps on my toes.

  20. Niel is the man! I really appreciate him for the favor he has done to me. I have what I wanted now. he even didn't accept the extra money for handling this and asked me to donate to charity in Iran and I doubled it and donated to Mahak charity NGO charity. a hospital that takes care of children suffering from cancer and support their poor families. actually I asked Neil to do something to increase the possibility of getting the CD delivered here I'm quoting my own e-mail: "could you please do me a favor and write down on a piece of paper "instrumental vocal-less classic music" and tag it on the CD? there are Muslim extremist moron maggots in Iran custom and music specially the western music with vocals is among seven deadly sins here :-) they might eliminate the CD at arrival so that note might come handy here." Thanks again Neil for everything
  21. Send me the details. If the 12 emails sending 2 tracks at a time via Google drive don't work, I'll try to upload directly to your site. You might need to purge as we go. The total file size of the other disc is larger than 3GB. Thanks you Niel I just downloaded all file from my e-mail. all checked and working correctly thanks again for the time you put in this
  22. I really appreciate you Niel for your kindness. this is why I feel good when I'm in this community and I don't feel any discriminatory behaviors like other diy forums. I have a website hosting space with 3Gb free space. I can give you the login details and you can go to "file manager" and click the "upload" and select the files on your HDD and files will be uploaded there. I can download them afterwards thanks,
  23. Hypex Ncore amplifier are among the best amplifiers I ever heard. I use NC1200 and my search for good amplifier is over
  24. hey guys actually I need this demonstration Audio CD (link removed) but I can't buy it from Amazon. they don't ship to Iran. It would be great is someone could buy it and rip it to Flac and mail the files to me and eliminate the CD. I'll pay all the charges plus $10 extra for doing this
