  1. It's not a pop-in replacement for the 4ohm K-33 woofer for Klipsch speakers, but if you change the crossover for an 8-ohm woofer for new builds and the K-33 and Delta15LF are both a 56oz magnet woofer and the specs come fairly close. It may or may not be optimal, there is only one way to find out, to try it. I've read some saying they had good results who've said they've tried it for their clones but some of us aren't experts or have testing equipment and only go by their ears of what sounds good to them so there's no proof how well it can directly compare between those two woofers, the plot curves come pretty darn close if WinISD is as accurate as some say! It's the only eminence woofer that comes as close to the plot curves of the K-33 so far for the retail versions of Eminence I've punched into WinISD. I would always suggest the K-33 from Klipsch to be dead on specs or Crites woofer offerings (I have both) but that is out of what he is willing to spend/afford at this time in his life with the high shipping cost to his country but I suggested it because he is building so he can easily design the crossover to accommodate for the 8-ohm woofer. Many have said that they do not hear a difference between the 4ohm and 8ohm woofer. I do hear a slight difference, but it's hard to. I do understand what you are trying to get across Marvel, and all good advice. When doing research before a project, it's always very good to get different opinions and learn from what others have tried, or is how I try to go about it for myself to get great ideas and save myself time if others found something didn't work. I'll report back how the Delta LF compares to the K-33 in my cornwalls when I get that project going. I've already used the Eminence Kappa Pro 15LF-2 in my King Cornwalls I had built a few months back from a local speaker co. I still own all my Klipsch speakers so I can do direct compares with them. Thanks.
  2. I'm late seeing this but it's amazing how some would rather scold than try and be more helpful. Part of the DIY is the fun of learning and trying on your own and what one can afford! If you get the basics down fairly well, you can be successful. I know from experience, I've built a few of own speakers and also have several Klipsch speakers and they sound great when comparing them to my Klipsch speakers. The Eminence Delta 15LFA woofer models nearly identicle to the K-33 woofer plot curves in WinISD if you model it, if WinISD is correct, then it should be a great choice. I'll find out soon enough because I might give them a try in an upcoming DIY project. Hope this helps, and good luck to you on your DIY adventure!
  3. I'm using the Eminence Kappa Pro 15LF-2 woofers in some King Cornwall's I had built. I've been listening to them for many months now. I built two sets (4 speakers) for my HT room but it has such a large sound that I only really needed one pair. I'll have to post pictures and reveiw soon.
  4. pzannucci, I've built my box at 10 cubic ft. and wanted to keep it that size with the eminence woofer but after talking with eminence about this, I have it split chamber to leave the woofer with 6.285 cublic ft. A larger box increases the group delay and cone excersion as put to me by eminence and that is what you have to watch out for, after eminence pointed this out and looking at the software graphs I can see how it does do this. I'm keeping the crossovers more simple with the 1st order so I'll have to use the smaller 6.2 cu.ft. enclosure. So even though the woofer can do 10 cublic ft., it seems it increases other things if not corrected and I don't have the expertise to correct the nasties!
  5. Custom painting too! Or ... needle point?
  6. Here is the pics from craigslist so you can get an idea what they look like.
  7. Wow, that wasn't very long in checking them out! He also has them on craigslist in the Portland, Oregon area, saw it here: http://portland.craigslist.org/wsc/ele/2287706965.html He's asking $1,000 for the Klipschorn and $2,000 for the Patrician IV, if anyone is interested in them here. I wonder what changed his mind from keeping them forever?
  8. I have RF-3 but have never seen a frequency response chart on them. I tried to do a search to help out but I'm not coming up with any graph for them. I found this: http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/p/4056/27973.aspx Gives some meter test results from that user. A review on the RF-3 here: http://www.tnt-audio.com/casse/klipsch-rf3_e.html Sorry I can't be of much more help!
  9. IndyKlipschFan, That's really nice of you to express this to everyone!! I'm already learning a lot here and great to learn it from others who have the same interest. Wishing you many, many, more years of enjoyment here!!
  10. Colter, Thanks for sharing the brochure! Nice learning about these little things that I didn't know about. Enjoyed looking at and reading the brochure. Wish I would have kept my forte II speakers! Rivernuggets, I agree... you should NOT sell your forte or Chorus speakers!! They are gems. I've had a very hard time even finding Chorus in my area, and when I have... they've already been sold by the time I inquired about them. orrb_05, I still have my RF-7 and Klipschorn's. I won't sell my RF-7. I haven't sold my Klipschorn's yet but I'm afraid if I do... I might regret it, even though I do have larger diy super cornwalls that are larger than the Klipschorn with horns and drivers. My other half would still like to see the Klipschorn's go but I've manage to hang on them with the complaints, but I do admit that I've got too many speakers than the room for them! It was agreed that if I do the HT build, I will have to sell the KLF-20 that was being used for HT.... just don't know if I will be able to let them go!! I need one giant listening room that I could put all the speakers in! [8]
  11. Wow, great job! The finish looks top notch! Looks like you put in a lot of labor of love! I bet they do sound very nice!
  12. The Forte II I had, the label on back were in F (CAPS), and also on the speaker box, so don't know, first time I heard this but makes sense that it could be lower f. Is that how Klipsch originally intended it to be?
  13. Oh, and yes..... some say the titanium get less harsh sounding after a good amount of hours on them. What I have right now only have a few hours on them so far. Break-in? Anything is possible. [Y]
  14. I think it was back in 2007 or 2008 that was discussed that some did not like the change to titanium from phenolic, thought it was a bit more harsh sounding. This might be different than your version? I don't know when Bob started using the newer version titanium tweeter, I wasn't even aware there was a newer version until just recently from what I was told but I don't know how accurate that info is? I found this older thread where Bob gave a slight nod to the phenolic tweeter: http://community.klipsch.com/forums/p/55776/539524.aspx More reads: http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/p/76685/756167.aspx I'll know more for myself once I change out my KLF-20 to the titanium tweeter and titanium mid-range, but it will take me a while to get to that, as I am very busy trying to get my HT build done. I still liked the phenolics in the Cornwall for tweeter and mid better than I did with the used Cornwall III that I bought and tried for a time, the Cornwall III uses titanium mid and tweeter. I may very well be just a phenolic guy but it's still all good! Right now I am going between the Selenium DT150 phenolic tweeter and the Selenium D220ti titanium tweeter to decide which to use for my HT build. They both are nice but for music, I think I prefer the DT150 phenolic tweeter and movies the D220ti tweeter or DT150 is nice. The titanium is a bit harsh sometimes for music, as well with movies. The phenolic just blends right in and pleasant sounding, and a better match with the Selenium D405 phenolic that I am using for the mid-range. The phenolic just sound more natural sounding to me, hold together better, smoother sounding, more hi-fi sounding. The titanium seems to let a little more background noise through, which for some, might like as it is a little easier to hear. There's just something special about the phenolic sound! To these ears anyway! []
  15. You mean you didn't have to pad them down some? L-Pad on tweeter and mid?
  16. I did pick them up but still haven't tried them yet, probably won't get to them for a month or so with working on the HT build, making the braces for the drivers. The diaphragms are solid silver both for the tweeter and mid, don't have any patterns in them for reinforcement like the Selenium and JBL titanium's have.
  17. I would keep them both! I had Forte II but sold them and kind of always regretted it, I kept them in mint cond. which is hard to find used the way I kept mine. I have so many speakers that I had to let some go, so be careful, there is such a thing as collecting too many speakers!
  18. It was sad to see the deer's loss of life! I can't even kill a spider or fly! [:S]
  19. I'm still saddened by this new change, I've seen far too many a companies come in for the brand name, strip out all the quality for very high profit returns for their usual suspects of investor groups. I'm doubtful but we will see! Real shame Klipsch is parting from the family business. I would be very happy for Audiovox to prove different!
  20. Oh wow, looks like I was typing my recommend about monoprice while you left yours. Good to see you like monoprice as well!
  21. Don't forget about www.monoprice.com They often have a much better price on speaker wire and banana plugs and such than PartsExpress. http://www.monoprice.com/products/search.asp?pg_no=1&keyword=banana%20plug#Search I've purchased many of these: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10401&cs_id=1040115&p_id=2943&seq=1&format=2 and they are very high quality, solid weight, and gold plated, and very easy to use and handles heavy usage and durability. I've also purchased monoprice heavy gauge speaker wire, excellent copper wire, and the best price out there for such high quality wire! 100ft 12AWG Enhanced Loud Oxygen-Free Copper Speaker Wire Cable for $24.92 or 300ft 12AWG Enhanced Loud Oxygen-Free Copper Speaker Wire Cable for $73.99
  22. Thanks for sharing the info! Wow, nothing stays in the US anymore. Shame! It worries me how much we are taking to other countries, America is going to not know how to do any anything before long! Really sad!
  23. Drawing looks nice! Sounds like you've been very busy with various builds! You must be really good with skills with the know how and gaining experience! Would be nice if it was as easy for myself! And to have the time to do it! I'm having my boxes built for me, it was too much work and took me too long to do them with the little time I had to work on the previous build I built. Plus I don't have all the proper tools that makes things easier like some! [] Looking forward to seeing what they will look like. []
  24. Funny! That's a good one! That has me thinking since you mention this, sounds like from what I've been reading is the older heritage seems to be more dynamic and pronounced compared to the newer ones, maybe that's why it needed the oil cap cans then? If so, it seems it would benefit from the oil cap cans to make them softer/smoother? I only have the newer version, hopefully one day I will hear what an older model sounds like with the oil cap cans! Sounds like you got very lucky to get them from Bob before GE stopped making those! I'm still curious how the new oil caps sound too. I guess if another company was making them, Bob would probably be offering them too.
