  1. I don't know the price, but it's over 7' tall [] The specs are incredible on that sub, but asthetically its just not going to work for me.
  2. The PB-13 is ported and is 27" deep, which is its only fault. I'm also looking at the JL Audio Fathom 113 which has the right dimensions, but is sealed, and might require 2. Unfortunately, I can't afford 2 of those. []
  3. I had a KLF-C7 between my La Scala's for years, and it now resides between my modified Khorns. I had an Academy as well, and preferred the KLF-C7. I'm sure a Heresy, or pair of Heresy's would be a better match, but I just didn't have the room for that. Mike
  4. I went with a smaller audio rack (75" wide), and will have 27" on each side between the rack and the Khorns. This would allow me to get a sub that is 24" wide if necessary. Mike
  5. OK, so I could use the pre-pro balanced (XLR) sub out to balanced input on the Sub for HT use, and that would free up the RCA line level inputs for the 2-ch rig. Carl, you are brilliant! [] Now I need to find one of those X-30's to provide some crossover control for the 2-ch system.
  6. I only need the X-30 for the 2-channel system, but unfortunately I need the sub for both. [] The sub only has one line level input that has both left and right channels (it also has balanced inputs). I'm guessing the pre-pro I'm getting has just a single mono channel for sub-out. I'm thinking I could use the mono out of the X-30 for the 2-channel rig, and the mono out from the pre-pro for the HT, and feed those into a Y splitter that plugs into the subs mono input (either left or right channel) if it has one, which I'm guessing it does. Does that make sense, and would that be a possibility? Mike
  7. OK, this makes sense to me. So when looking at the X-30 and the new PB-13, there are left and right channel connectors coming out of the X-30 and into the PB-13 line level inputs. Let's throw a new wrinkle into the mix and say I wanted to share this sub with my HT system, which uses a pre-pro. I believe there is a single output channel for the .1 LFE channel. If I also wanted to run that into the same subwoofer line level inputs how would I accomplish that if I already have something plugged into them? I am guessing I would need some kind of splitter to do this, but in one scenario I have left and right coming in, and in the other I have just a single rca cable coming in. Thanks, Mike
  8. Yeah, that's why Dr Who built my box, as I wanted one that allowed banana plugs. SWL, can you explain the exact connection scenario with the boxes you mention? I have just one main output as well on the BBX, which feeds the VRDs. Thanks, Mike
  9. Just heard back from SVS and they confirmed this. Only line-level inputs. Is there any way to use a line level input on the sub from an analog 2-ch system? Mike
  10. Ah yes... this thread. I remember it well. It turns out Kathy Mason and Klipsdude were the same person, and always posted in the same threads. Klipsdude put a very hot picture of some girl as Kathy's avatar. Amy got rid of both of them years ago.
  11. I am in the process of a living room makeover, and I am going to upgrade some HT gear at the same time (new TV, pre-pro, blu-ray, subwoofer) and was wondering if anyone is using a SVS PB-13 with their Khorns for 2-channel use. If so, can you tell me your thoughts? The new ones now come with a 1000w Sledgehammer amp (used to come with a 650w Bash amp) which I think would be sufficient enough, but would it be able to keep up with the Khorns when pumping some volume (100 db or so)? Another question I have is how would I hook the sub up to my analog system? Right now I share the Khorns between the 2-channel (VRD's) and HT (Acurus) amps by using a Dr Who speaker switch box. When looking at the PB-13 it doesn't appear that it has speaker wire inputs/outputs. I am assuming this would be necessary when using an analog preamp that has no subwoofer out connection. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Mike
  12. That's right fini! $200 + $10 for S/H. It's the bargain of the year if you purchased a 103R from Comet Supply. Mike
  13. They now have mine and said they will be making a batch next week. Mike
  14. Hey guys, I have been meaning to write a review, but have very little time to do so at the moment. I will provide an update soon on the subject, but just let me say they are the best sounding amps I have ever had in my system. They do everything well, and are a match made in heaven with the BBX w/Cream, TD-124 and modified Khorns. I will put something together in the next week or so. Mike
  15. Great! I have a 103R I have been waiting to send them as a backup. Mike
  16. Yep. I picked mine up for $200 (but that included an Ortofon RS-212) . I paid $1500 for mine and still had to pay extra for the arm and cart. I would do it over again 1000 times! Mike
  17. Marty, I don't recall any noise from that cart when it was the unmodified 103 or the Zu version. Maybe this started after the retip? Regardless, I still think they are a heck of a cart for the money. I've never heard the 301 but I'm guessing it too is a great cart for the money. As you know, I'm playing a Zu 103R and I absolutely love it! As a backup I bought another 103R from Comet for $200 and am waiting for Zu to start modding them again in the next couple of months. You can send them your cart and they will do their magic for $200 plus s/h. Best money I ever spent imho... Mike
  18. Ki Choi is from the Seattle area but I don't see him post much anymore. Great guy, by the way.
  19. I started out with a 299 (modified by Craig), which got me started on tubes. I loved it and had it for about 3 years, before buying a pair of Craig's VRD's. As good as the 299 is/was, it does not compete with Craig's VRD's and a good preamp. Enjoy the 299, and when the time comes spring for the VRD's... you won't be disappointed. Mike
  20. Nice rig Pete! I agree about the table variables. You really have to be patient and take your time with the setup. Having a good setup lp helps a lot. I dig the reel-to-reel. I have been thinking about a rtr player for a while but just haven't found the right one. How do you like the sound compared to vinyl? What about the pre-recorded tapes versus the self recorded ones. Just curious... Mike
  21. Please check the inputs on your Elite receiver. If it comes with a phono input then use it. That input already comes with some built in gain. If not then use the aux input or tape input, and you will have to buy a phono preamp (you can get one for $79) that goes between the turntable and the Elite. Mike
  22. This is all you need right here. I have one and it works great! http://cgi.ebay.com/Stylus-Tracking-Force-Gauge-DIGITAL-/280522300434?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item41506e9c12 Mike
  23. Thanks for the kind words fellas! Colin, would love to have you out again. I hope to host another get-together sometime in the near future... Mike
