  1. Thanks buddy! Would be honored to be in the Gear Vetting Subcommittee of the DC Heritage Society. Did I say I can't wait for the preamp to be done?! [] Mike
  2. Great reviews guys!! I can't wait for Craig to complete mine!! Mike
  3. I'm glad this thread was resurrected. I have aquired a number of these albums over the years, due to the recommendations of those in this thread. I also wanted to say I miss Allan and Parrot, and Max, and mobile homeless... Mike
  4. Based on Gary's recommendation I have gotten in line and ordered one myself. Thanks for the heads up bud! I'm really excited about this new offering from Craig! Mike
  5. I have listened to the first 8 so far, and other than the skip in one song on the first album I cannot complain. Mine are not warped, and they are dead quiet. Mike
  6. Not according to Abbey Road Studios. I posted this earlier in this thread... I saw a post on the SH Forums where a guy had emailed Abbey Road Studios asking them if these were mastered using the 24/192 digital masters or 24/44.1, and got the following reply from them: Thank you for your email. For the recent Beatles remasters, The original tapes were copied to digital at 24/192k. The tracks were then remastered at 24/96 and the vinyl was cut from these 24/96K masters. I hope this answers your question Regards Abbey Road Studios
  7. Got mine last week and wouldn't you know it, 1st album, 3rd song, big skip right in the middle of it. I was able to get thru the next 8 without a hitch however, and have 5 to go. The nice thing about Amazon is they will let you send individual LP's back and they will send another in it's place. When I've gone thru them all I will send the bad one(s) back. As for the sound, I think they sound really good! Not as detailed as some of my other audiophile pressings, but I wasn't expecting that in the first place. What you get are dead quiet lp's, with real good clarity and detail. For me, I never owned their complete set before so it's nice to have their entire catalog. Now if anyone asks if I have any Beatles, I can say "which one do you want to hear?" :-) Mike
  8. A used MFSL box set costs over twice what this box is selling for, so this will definitely be an option for me. I'm also understanding these are not being cut from the same digital masters that the cd's were cut from. My understanding is these will be cut from a much higher resolution (24/96k) than the cd's, which were cut from a 16 bit master. Mike
  9. I just converted my whole itunes library (300 cd's or so) to apple lossless, and it went from 17gb to 70gb. I might just buy a 160gb ipod and put it on there, and not update my iphone with music any longer. Mike
  10. Thanks, that seems to work. Looking at the files they are about 10 times the size as the AAC format (42kb vs 4kb), which means if I convert my whole library it will be 170gb vs 17gb. I have a 32gb iPhone so thats not going to work. What is everybody else doing in that regard? Mike
  11. How does one do that? I have never bought anything from itunes, but have downloaded about 400 CD's to my iphone. If I can rip them lossless, I would erase my entire library and start over. Thanks, Mike

  13. Those look awesome! I love my VRD's! I too have the Cardas caps and the larger power supply, but now kind of wish I sprung for the V-Caps. Let us know how you like them. Mike
  14. That's a great book, Marty! While reading it I knew OB would have loved every minute of it. Rest in peace Old Buckster! You are still sorely missed around here! Mike
  15. I'm using a Dayton Audio SA1000with my THTLP, and it mates very well with the sub. Digs deep with no effort. Mike
  16. I wish I would have waited as I bought my SKY-4P20 stands about a year ago from him. Mike
  17. I'm guessing you're pretty busy and have no time for this. Since I need them pretty quick I'll have BJC make them. Mike
  18. No problem. Let me know when you can respond to my email. Mike
  19. You just want an excuse to make sure I'm taking care of your old Lascalas. Yep... I sure do miss those La Scala's. They really sound sweet.
  20. I still haven't said no yet. Carl. Good to hear. We will definitely talk more about this. Mike
  21. I would love to hear Carl's rig one day. If I can talk him into building me a couple of subs that wish might come true. On a side note I've had Carl out to my house and he's a first class gentleman. Mike
  22. Never seen that but I replace all inner sleeves with a mfsl sleeve after cleaning the album. Mike
