  1. Do these units have a fixed and variable output?
  2. I was reading a thread (somewhere?) that Haskins wasn't too certain about carrying the Opera Audio stuff because it such a deal that the profit margin would be pretty much nil. Or he might try it for awhile, or something. Still, the Brian Cherry route is a good buy. $906 for the Ella with ALL upgrades(KT-100's) with the shipping price sans Power Cord. Then get a cord from Kevin. A few hundred more bucks, and the Basie could be used to push the Ella minus it's volume pot. I could keep it under $1500 or will try to. You and your damn eye candy pics Homeless, gets me all pipe dreamin'. THANX!
  3. Yes I would like to see that, because it looks like that entire amp is in that dustpan except the chassis and trannys. I had thought that was trash, pardon my ignorance.
  4. I don't know MD, but it doesn't look good sittin' in a dustpan.
  5. Now be honest, You know they were complaining that it wouldn't even fit between the gap in their teeth. Any recs on Heathkits?
  6. That's Good! LOL! You Folks aren't from San Fransisco, are you?!!! Good luck on your quest, HE!
  7. So your more or less using the player as a transport with the reciever doing the conversion. Ah! Never mind me, I have a Pre/Power amp with no Digital inputs. In fact, I disabled the digital out on one of my players, didn't need it. But the two DVD units have Digital outs, one is Coax, and the other is both.
  8. Wire them in series. either off one side or both. It's a thought.
  9. You gotta admit Theears, this guy is a laugh. BS cop and Ethnics minister, LOL! I'm so glad that Reverend Forrest is here to save us from the misguided perils of Audio. SAVE ME FORREST! I AM A SINNER!!!
  10. From who? Forrest Hump? He has a 16/46 with a Samson 700, BTW. With Heathkit and KLF-30's. Correct me if I am wrong Forrest. Sweetie!
  11. Is John Warren making you nervous, Ray? Like Seb retorted to John, It's just Bullsh*t Forum John, no need for Data, or AE proof. KRB, You mean weird as in 'Cheap'? You'd be amazed what a quality Analog interconnect can do, but it all depends on the application.
  12. Sorry to be off topic, but I'm notorious for that. Which Tortiose release are you refering to, MH? I heard about 30 seconds of them on a MP3. Amazon dumped all the Tortoise MP3's, except one. Reading up on them, they sound like worth checking out. Do you remember 'The Swans', and if so, what was your opinion on them. reply if you want to.
  13. Must have been Lindsey. Pardon me, but does Ole Doc Bottlehead usually have his little amp and horn fest in Silverdale every year? I was going to bring up the DIY.com modded Pioneer, but I figured to wait for your return, and bring it up yourself. THANX!
  14. Tool was Cool back in '90, but now they are overated. 'Lateralus' is pretty boring, about 6 plays and that was that. That's the problem with the commercialized crap that passes off as Rock today. Now OTOH, Slim Cessna's Auto Club, 'Always say please and thank you' This is Physcobilly. It's great!!! There is always a Alternative.
  15. That's right Dean, If one's cubes weigh less than 90 pounds, it's not a speaker.
  16. I listened to a pair of 701 II's today. While your point is well taken Ray, I'm sorry, but IMHO these speaker's sucked. I tried to be open about it, but they just sounded bad at moderate volumes. Raspy, distorted and just not up to snuff, I'm mean c'mon, paper cone tweeters??!! This is my opinion, others may like them. But there is better for the same price. If the consumer likes them, then we are all happy. It's just nice to know that the internet is full of info about audio, and if anyone willing to desire better can find out through this resource, to discover things beyond cheap magazine advertisments and the usual hype and sketchy specs. Some people are happy with a Boombox at home, nothin' wrong with that. Some folks listen to nothing but the Television, nothin' wrong with that either. I will refrain from Bose slamming from now on, Mr. Garrison. I will conduct on the boards in a responsible manner. The topic's gettin' old anyway. Just one little more stab, BOSE LICKS! I'm done. THANX!
  17. Could it be Uh...Let's see...Hmmmmm....... BOB CARVER!!! It could be Harvey Skerrit. Theear's Mentor. This message has been edited by mike stehr on 02-27-2002 at 03:02 AM
  18. Just think how much this guy saves on his power bill with that system. Yeah those Italians, they sure know how to waste their money. It's a damn cryin' shame, those weak little woofers barly eeking out any sound at all. On those teeny little valve powered amps, how can they even hear it? LOL!
  19. BAbs likes Klipschorns? KEWL! I seen her debut on ED Sullivan on PBS once. Quite impressive. I'm no Streisand fan, either. But like Soundog says.... This message has been edited by mike stehr on 02-26-2002 at 11:59 PM
  20. A friend and I were looking at some bookshelf systems for his Mother. We were at Best Buy (Yay.) and we were looking around and seen the Bose display. The ones that seemed the top line out of all the plastic presented, were the 701 II's. They have a little Demo Switchbox for speakers with a Volume, and you can't access the Components, A Yamaha AV of some sort and a Sony DVD player. I pressed Rock and cranked the volume all the way with the 701 II's.) Now I thought the volume would be set at a limit, it wasn't. When the song finally kicked in, It was scary. Raspy distorted, it was not very pleasent, indeed. I was diving for that volume quick. Garbage. (I don't understand these places, they have fifty billion systems going at once, the speakers are hooked up to switchboxes, noisy, cheap interconnects, one of the Employees is rattling the displays in the Car Stereo section five isles either way. How you could actually LISTEN to a system is Hopeless.) We did see a big ol' Krell today, It was suffocating in some $800 cabinet, My buddie couldn't believe what a space heater it was, Class A at idle, I said. We didn't hear it, It was hooked up to Martin Logans anyway. They had a little pair of (Sonus Fabors?) floorstanders going in the same room, hooked up to a BK AV integrated or Reciever or something. They were ugly, but they sounded awesome, clean and smooth, I need to return to actually have a Demo with a Employee next time. Bose are Sick, that Sh*t hurts my ears. I sure appreciated my system when I got home. My tasteless day, THANX! This message has been edited by mike stehr on 02-26-2002 at 11:50 PM
  21. You may be able to ponder out a way to isolate and dampen the PC Tower/Towers from the massive vibration that is occuring. Kind of like the same theory like isolating a CD player from vibrations, etc... It's a thought.
  22. I bet you wouldn't think that if you heard that system. You need to do more research, before you can pop off with that claim. I suppose you think Tube amps suck, because they don't put out much power also. Grow up. This message has been edited by mike stehr on 02-26-2002 at 01:44 PM
  23. I wish they did have a Forum. We could troll it!
