  1. My after market stereo the car says it will hold about 1,000 songs a bank, And 20 banks of music. I like to play it on "mix all". I can hunt up albums, artists, and songs if I desire. However I need bigger thumb drives as The most I've been able to load is only 3 banks. I quit carrying CD's in the car as it leaves more room for short handle brooms............................Taz
  2. Lots of good info posted by yourself and others, My situation has conduit that runs under concrete, after wire leaves the house. Left speaker wire will exceed 150' easily.[:S] That is each way of course, Total of 300' of wire, plus the wire in the house which would have to be #12 or smaller to meet WAF.
  3. Welding Cable By The Foot, Black, red, yellow, green, and blue #6AWG. Then there is Ultra Flex in Orange in the larger cables, Should be good for 150ft or more. Less expensive then some of those snake oil cables too....
  4. Attempted to post and was told it was up to administrator approval. This was at work, so this is test to see if just at work or also at home...[:|] Uh oh, looks like issue at work on my break time....[:'(]
  5. Tried to post in tecnical but must now be approved by administrator This should be good for long runs. Comes in Black and Red. May be difficult to run through conduit though....Taz........[8-|] BLACK RED Item # Description Price 1+ 1000+ Qty in Package In Stock Add to Cart 5716801 Red Welding Cable, 6 Ga (500 ft. 6. I've bought speaker wire by the roll, I think 1 time I bought a 30 or 40' section. Never used it........[].............. Can't have too much of that stuff. Not all of it remains at home, but if I'm 100 miles from home, back in the old home town, I have a roll stashed there to use for family or friends.............So my question remains, How big of wire for 75 to 100' run? Should I just hook up 2-3 #12 or #10 wire and call it good?......[^o)]........Taz
  7. ok, just remember....depending on which chart you look at...20ft could be a 20ft + and - pair or 20 feet on other charts is actually 40ft 20ft for the + and 20ft for the - gives us 40ft. the below chart is for a + and - pair so you do not have to 20+20 to 40 it. Any suggestions for 100ft run from reciever to speaker. One would be much shorter, probably less then 50". Have 2 1" plastic conduit from house to patio. Love the big heritage speakers. Sooner or later the right set will show up and I'll bite............................Taz [] Maybe another set of Khorns for the outside.
  8. That's what I thought, but I just kept playing and it just would pop up that message occasionally but never stopped. I was using a computer out through the headphone jack. I think it's free to a computer but to use on other devices it's cost $4.99 per month, more if you want it mobile. I'm using lap top. Only a couple days into it. But on the 1st day it said I was running out of music with only a couple albums played. So I ponied up the $4.99 for use on the computer as I like to listen to music as I lurk. Have had trouble with skipping, going to other sites and various issues which I am hoping I can learn to over come. So far anything that takes much effort from computer causes issues though.........................Taz
  9. I'm not into it as much as some of you guys, BUT using my computer, Marantz quad and IMF/B&O speakers it sounds good to me. Logged on through Facebook. So easy it only took me about 2 minutes!..............................Taz []
  10. Thanks for the memories. I was 15 years old when I 1st heard this song............
  11. I have the Manual for the 600, Seems like he said he had a turner but did not say what it was. I asked him to bring the tuner and some smaller amps out to look at. But has not happened yet. I do have a copy machine at home, could probably make a copy for the 600 if you want..............................Taz
  12. Perhaps I could get some email as to opinions as to who would be best. Vintage Tunes, or NOS Valves. I'd prefer off the forum replies for this as I don't want any negative opinions on the forum for these people. I would also like other suggestions - recomendations over the forum. Thank You All, .....................................Taz
  13. Question? One channel on my Lafayette KT 600 pre-amp for the turn table went out. I swapped RC cables around and it is the A channel. Is there someone you'd suggest/Highly recommend? I have the instruction book as it was built from a kit by my neighbor. Does .Terry Dewitt do other besides McIntosh, and would he be a good choice? I may be down but not out as have a few other stereos I've wanted to listen to the K Horns with,............................................................ Taz
  14. Thank You speakerfritz, Gentleman owns business with his brother and sister, but but good advice as they have reduced hours over the past year. I do worry about the cartridge though. Do you suppose I should see if He can get a one of those also? Taz
  15. So I stopped by the stereo store today. Came home with a Dual 731 Q. I went to the internet and read that there is issues with getting replacement cartridges. Gentleman said it has original cartridge and that he can get new needles. Should I be concerned, or just grin and play it as I am doing now. Appears to function fine. Comments pro and con, Please........... Taz
  16. JerlW, I took your advice and went to Costco and they were having a sale on the 16G drives and bought 2 for a little over $10 each. Had to go back into town and bought another 6 of them for $65.94. Should hold all the albums and then some..........................................................................Taz
  17. I got to looking at the stereo I had put in my car and noticed a place for a thumb drive. Got one for free at a conference I went to. They had a big basket and giving them away for the taking. I think it was something like 2 megabite. Down loaded and low and behold it plays. No only that it tells who is singing and what the song is. I did a plain transfer from my library to the E drive. Any advise, opinions, or comments. . . . Taz
  18. Call the offending stations and tell them of the problem, and that you are going to call the advertisers and will boycott the problem products. Also make sure everyone knows that you plan to ask all your friends to do the same. Use a public pay phone as in my experince the TV stations will threaten to sue. It worked for me to get offensive material off the air ways. It took about 2 weeks. $$$ talks in this world. Taz
  19. I built one for another speaker, Very easy if you have access to drill press or lathe. If I can do it, most of the members here can. Cut head off bolt that has proper threads. Use small grinder while bolt is turning in drill press. B@$t@rd file will work also. B@$t@rd file is very course file and proper name for it. If you have a friend who has a metal lathe, show him one and he should be able to build one in a few minutes. Taz
  20. My error on the flash light, battery sure looks like one of mine. I like the "bundle" packages also. No error on the Man Cave, Looks Great! Taz
  21. In my profession we call it the Hershy SquirtsTaz
  22. Makita 18 volt Lithium battery flashlight [li] older style. Taz
  23. I have one speaker that does that up stairs. I turn the volume all the way down and count to 5 then shut down with just barely a peep. Downstairs on the mc30's I turn volume all the way down then turn the mc30's off, then the pre-amp. Works well for me. Taz
  24. I try to buy American made products, but at times have not. I am willing to pay more for American products as I believe it supports American families. Such a terrible economy as we have now will not be improved by buying imports. I don't believe the argument about unions holds much weight. Although I have worked both union and non union jobs, I believe there is a place for both. Bottom line for me is if I buy american I feel like I am supporting my fellow americans. I hope these that I am supporting also support other americans. It's kinda like a Karma thing. In the end, what I do will come back to me. It sure has in the past. I could rattle on for hours, but will stop here. Taz
