  1. Finally a little progress with the modified back panel. Now to squeeze it all back in da box.
  2. I thought you already stated that this did not solve the problem. It will not do the same thing. The dummy plugs are for testing to figure out what exactly the problem is. The TA-R1 is not exactly how Jensen makes its money at $10 a pop, so maybe calling them is the only way to get some. Or you can make your own, but the parts will probably cost more than $10.
  3. see page 107 of above linked document.
  4. The dummy plugs are used to troubleshoot these types of problems. https://centralindianaaes.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/indy-aes-2012-seminar-w-notes-v1-0.pdf The dummies and their usage start on about page 100.
  5. @DrewskiYou need some dummy plugs.
  6. And after my coffee I'm grumpy but alert.

  8. It does not appear that she is describing a baby's arm holding an apple
  9. No input impedance spec'd ----- weird. I agree with Deang it is probably around 20K and certainly no less than 10K. Call Klipsch customer service. If they can't give an answer shame on them.
  10. Methinks you're thinking about the coast. Out here in the desert it gets friggin hot sometimes. And yea it does not get as cold in the winter as it does in Montana but if you were outside all night unprepared you could die of exposure. I did not mean it as a brag but just sharing with my C,C and C buds how grateful I am that its only 90 not 115☀️. And yea I'm just a man from Michigan.
  11. They're P.O.d. Isn't that what we strive for around here?
  12. It has been just downright pleasant weatherwise around my part of the world recently. Maybe touching 90 at the height of the day and dropping down to mid 60s at night. Knowing how hot it could be this time of year I am grateful for it.
  13. Jeesh, how complicated can it be? Marvel I really have no idea. I would assume if I ever get that far it would have to be something that runs on a Windows computer. Right now the mixer I have only has a firewire interface and therefore has never been hooked up to a computer. I am assuming if I really want to get involved with this the first step will be getting a new mixer with USB or AVB interface(s).
  14. Beautiful looking and sounding I'm sure. I sure wish the factory would have taken the same care picking out the panels for my raw Jubes as they seemed to for your and dtels 1502s.
  15. My understanding of the 5bx is any signal over the threshold got left alone or compressed depending on the settings. It is not a linear expander but a downward expander and compressor combo. I have no experience with these units but that's my understanding. With compressed recordings I want linear expansion. If its too loud I can turn it down or use one of the compressors in my mixer.
  16. The newer and older (original) remote receiver boards side by side. Can you tell which is which?
  17. The effects are subtle but still audible. You can adjust the threshold way wrong and try to upward expand everything and the result is not good(to my ears). It also divides up the frequency of the signal into 3 bands and performs its magic on the 3 separately to avoid the lows effecting the highs and vice versa. As far "budget" is concerned this unit when in production had the best VCAs and RMS level detectors that DBX produced. i.e. the same ones that went in their studio gear. My modified units now have the best VCAs and level detectors made by THAT Corp. And IMHO the best audio Opamps ever made the LME49720.
  18. The problem that I experienced (and the problem the guy in Australia) fixed was under compact florescent lighting(maybe LED also?) the remote just did not work at all. All is well now. I should post pictures of the old circa 1978 technology board and the new one now that they're both out of the units and available.
  19. It increases the dynamic range of the compressed signal that you get on most LPs and CDs. It has an adjustable expansion ratio from 1.0 to 1 up to 1.5 to 1 so nothing crazy. It also has an adjustable threshold so that signal above the threshold are given gain and below threshold are attenuated. In effect it makes louder passages louder and softer ones softer. Granted if you have a great recording it effects are not needed. In a studio I believe expanders are used for downward expansion only. I looked briefly for a expander plug in for a DAW that was not just downward expansion and came up empty. If you know of one please post a link.
  20. No stones but the Ashly unit looks to be an active crossover. The DBX unit is not a crossover at all, it is a dynamic range expander.

  22. I had a half Japanese half Filipina girlfriend that insisted on cutting the crust off her PB and J sandwiches like a little kid. But man she was good in the sack.
  23. Yes if I understand your point they need to be in the signal path where the level is constant/predictable. I mean pre main output volume/ fader.
