  1. Do you enjoy listening to music? Do you have corners these can go in? If the answers are yes, pull that trigger--- don't hesitate. babadono
  2. John Luke, So you are running that Radian driver down to 400Hz? No problem? I have ALK's ES400 and ES5800 crossovers in my modified KHorns and the squawker via taps on the autotransformer can be dialed down upwards of 10dB. Likewise the tweeter can be dialed down 10dB. I have Dave's Eliptrac horn but I am still using the stock K55 driver. I am itching to try one of these 2 inch drivers, but which one? B and C DCM50, Faital Pro HF200 or your choice the Radian 950PB? I believe no matter which I choose I will still stay 3 way (with the B and C you must). Looks like the cost to go to this party is between $600 and $1000, not insignificant and I hope to choose wisely. Are there other drivers to consider? babadono
  3. Just another un enforceable law. babadono
  4. Coolhand, Ok so do not care about absolute level just frequency response and relative flatness. Gotcha, thanks. babadono
  5. Hi All, I don't understand the vertical scale on most of these graphs. I get ALKs. 105 +/- 5db 1W at 1 meter. The others 80db? Why not use a cone driver? babadono
  6. coolhand, I've been on the fence about wanting to try these out on the Eliptrac horns on my modified KHorns. Now I'm not going to be able to? Where is this info coming from? babadono
  7. Shrader1, freaking AWESOME! Congrats. I'll bet it feels real good that you did almost all of it yourself. babadono
  8. Youthman, I use those Monoprice RCA cables to go from my AVR to my powered subs. Mine are OK. Perhaps you got one bad/marginal one. I talked to Monoprice Tech Support and they said they use RG-6 quad shieled to build those cables. I took the back shell off of 1 of mine and found out they 'pot' the connections so they cannot be reworked. The shield connection resistance should be extremely low with quad shielded cable but perhaps they did not do a good soldering job on 1 of your cables. Do you have an extra? or is your problem fixed? babadono
  9. Youthman, So how is it going? From the way you describe the piano keys it sounds like it is 'hum' you are hearing. As far as the acoustic hum that you hear from the amplifier itself, is it louder than it used to be? Or are you just focusing more on it now? I did a search on that model and found some pictures with the lid off. That baby has a large toroidial power transformer it, it is going to make some noise. It is up to you whether you can live with it or need to seek out a 'quieter' amp. That being said, it is possible that the capacitors are aging but I think 10 years is a little premature. I know it has only been overnight but have you checked out Jensen's website? Do you have some RCA shorting plugs or cables? Your going to need 5 for your 5 input amp. Basically to start and eliminate the Parasound amp from being the problem you need to: 1. Turn off the amp. 2. Disconnect all the inputs from the Emotiva Pre and install the 5 shorting plugs on the inputs.3. Leave your speakers hooked up. 4. Turn the gain controls fully clockwise if they aren't already. 5.Turn on the amp. You now have all the inputs of the amp directly tied to the amp's ground. This is the best it is going to get. You should only hear gaussian noise eminating from your speakers or if there is some hum it should be very low level. Is the level acceptable to you? If 1 channel is noticeably less quiet then maybe you do in fact have an amp problem. Parasound's website says each channel has its own power supply and therefore it could just that 1 supply. If the noise level is acceptable you must work your way back towards the inputs one tedious step at a time. babadono
  10. Youthman, From the look of your equipment list I suspect you have had to track down problems like this before. If not you are blessed. Please do yourself a favor and go to the Jensen Tranformer website and search their app. notes and white papers. They explain how to systematically go through your system and determine the cause of the problem. Of course they want to sell things also but the amount and quality of the knowledge they dispense for free is awesome. Usually with unbalanced gear it is bad cables and dirty connections or somehow unbeknownst to you a ground loop has been introduced in your system. Happy troubleshooting no affliation with Jensen Transformer babadono

Hi All, This has probably been asked before but..... Where does Newegg keep coming up with these? Are they a discontinued product or not? cuz babadono
  12. [Y] on Monoprice and GLS. All those expensive cables won't make as PWK said "a dimes worth of difference"
  13. As I have stated in other threads there is excellent info on tracking down these types of issues on the Jensen Transformer website. How to make shorting plugs/cables for unbalanced or balanced gear and how to use them to track down problems etc... etc... One of the best suggestions..write down what you do/try or else you will repeat your attempts. No Affliiation yada, yada ,yada babadono
  14. Thanks Tasdom. Sunnydesigns is an importer/wholesaler, hopefully they will get back to me with some retail outlet info. The bench is made by them also? babadono
  15. Tasdom, Hopefully you will get this... I know your posts are a little old. But I have a question. Is your TV base sitting directly on top of your RC64? I was wondering if this would be OK to do. I am thinking to get a wall mount for my TV instead and set the RC64 on top of my cabinet. BTW who made or where did you get your cabinet? babadono
  16. Very nice! I'm still working on my HT in the family room with RF-7II and RC-64II in cherry. Dtel - I'm with you, never did get painting over beautiful wood anything. babadono
  17. Dos XX? C'mon try something NEW. Hey Schu, how was the Firestone DBA? Recently I tried Fat Tire Ale from the New Belgum brewery. It's ok but I always go back to my favorite Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. CHEERS! babadono
  18. Ok I'm a novice. How do you know you need to re cone your K33s? Did you obviously blow them out? Or is it much more subtle? BTW, I have a pair of Khorns(circa 1980) and a pair of Lascalas(circa 1977), both still sound good to me. But hey I'm old. babadono
  19. This reminds me of how quick you can run out of amplifier power. I agree with some of the other post on increased dynamic as a goal and not volume. Most Klipsch speaker can get really loud but the detailed sound is what's best. And remember every 10dB increase in SPL is preceived by us humans as a doubling of volume. So in the example from 90 to 110db it got 4 times louder but the amplifier power went up 100 times!
  20. Beechnut, Did you even consider in ceiling speakers? I really want to hide as many wires as possible and I know in my realatively new house the electrician put some wires up in the ceiling someplace. He said "Oh you're gonna need these, trust me". In my situation it is one side that is open to the kitchen not the rear. babadono
  21. Beechnut, Good idea, just hook'em up when its movie time. Where are the wires hiding? But also I have an additional problem, no wall seperating family room(where HT will be) from kitchen.[] babadono
  22. Hello, I am a long time Klipsch heritage speaker owner in my 2 channel set up but trying to get my first HT set up in my familyroom. I am thinking of going with RF-7ii and RC-64ii across the front but because of the room and WAF I think I'll have to go with in ceiling speakers for surrounds and/or rear. Is this going to work? Any help is much appreciated. babadono
  23. Cool thread Cask05. Great idea. I have been a long time Klipsch Heritage 2 channel owner/listener, but unfortunately don't have multi channel HT set up yet. But I'm working on it. Pleae everyone keep the reviews coming. babadono
  24. DrWHo/djk, Please do not take offense by my questions and comments. I am not in any way trying to be obtuse only trying to understand this. It looks like by your graphs DrWho that in the audible band the 2.2k resistor doesn't make as PWK used to say a "dimes worth of difference". Especially with the 100 ohm output impedance. Am I interpreting the graph correctly? babadono
