  1. I'm feeling pretty good. I'll be glad when the androgen blocker shot finally wears off. I've probably got a few more months to go with that. Motivation is shot right now. I have lots of projects started and nothing finished.
  2. Only had a cup and a half so far. And I just noticed it's 1:00pm.
  3. My Heresy IIs have the square/rectangular crossovers, so yours were probably what some call the Heresy 1.5. Were yours still the plywood? Mine are veneered MDF.
  4. I'm hoping that I last longer than me.
  5. You don't have a cutoff at the street? I can shut mine off at the meter, here.
  6. Well, to be fair here, he says he worked 'with the Altec VOTT' not 'at Altec', but the VOTT covers about 15 different models. Different ones were 'the Big Boys'.
  7. Almost! That uses a different woofer and isn't ported.
  8. And Wendy (Walter) Carlos used Cornwalls hanging from chains in her studio. That means nothing. For a while certain engineers/producers liked Yamaha NS10s, too.
  9. It wasn't officially, it was marketed as a 'home' speaker. I believe the old guys at the lansingheritage site over HIFI Engine. Are you done muddying the waters yet? They were a great speaker, a coworker of mine had a pair or them in the mid '70s. I still remember them.
  10. The Model 19 wasn't a studio monitor, but a prettied up version of the Voice of the Theater 1216A. They both came with the 416 woofer and 811B horn. The Model 19 used an upgraded driver.
  11. When we're you in Memphis? I was there 1975-80.
  12. He says they're black, but the pics look like oiled oak. Hilarious copy though.
  13. Banjo player Bela Fleck, simply incredible. He has recorded Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. Incredibly complex, he doesn't read music (well).

    Beechcraft desk

Here are a couple more crazy pics.
  15. I think in the videos I watched, they said the maple was a bit heavier. They said with what they have done has allowed more sustain as well as greater volume. They are using lasers to do the cutting so they can be more precise, and they are still strong. It's not like they are switching everything to that kind of bracing, but having a few models out there will be a good test drive for sure.

    Beechcraft desk

I think he may have one of those, too. He has a garage full of autos.
  17. New Martin guitar has laser cut skeletonized bracing. https://www.martinguitar.com/series-inception.html

    Beechcraft desk

One of the doctors at the facility where my wife and I work has a desk made from a wing section from a Beechcraft Bonanza. He's a bit eccentric, and his office is full of all kinds of crazy stuff. The only reason his desk is empty here is that everything was removed while he was on a cruise so they could put new flooring in.
  19. Welcome, Rob! The best speaker I had owned were a pair of JBL studio monitors, about the same size as the Heresy models. I still have them, but in the early 2000s, my older son came home from school with a pair of Heresy IIs for my birthday. They were a used set... the JBLs moved to living room duty. The HIIs are still here, currently my main speakers. I have had other Klipsch along the way (larger, pro models), but the Heresys will stay. Each newer model really is an improvement over the previous one. If I wanted another set of that size and had the money, I wouldn't hesitate to get them. Bruce
  20. We're in the low 20s here this afternoon, but supposed to be mid 60s by Thursday. At least it's clear and sunny.
  21. My parents retired to northwest Wisconsin, where it often hit -40 in the winter. We lived in the Madison area where it got down to -10 or -20 pretty often. I think we were all pretty happy to move back south.
  22. The economy is pretty bad, you know...
