  1. ... a reasonable amplifier that is tubes or solid state. I've used somedecent tube gear on myHeresy IIs and they sound great. Right now I have an H/K 430, an older twin power supply receiver at 25wpc. They osund wonderful for the money and can be picked up for $100 or less. Bruce
  2. So...what would be a reasonable capacitance when we say "low"? We're talking a value per ft, correct?
  3. We talked with you some... it was a bit hectic, and you were fine, so no defense is needed. We had a good time. The organ in the chapel there is really nice. The chapel architecture is a bit modern, but a lot better than some buildings. Abolutely HUGE decay time in that room, which works on some music very well. Strings can get rather mushy...
  4. Absolutely, jc. Not a problem with that at all.
  5. Willie was born in 1933, so he would only have been in his early 50s. It was his hard livin that made him look like an old man.
  6. Cool fini, what did you wire up?
  7. Michael, Have a look at the 802VLZ3 - it still has the rotary pots, but ups the ante to 3 mic inputs, and has 3 band eq on each input. The only downside is it costs twice as much as the 402. I would love something smaller than what I have, to toss in a gigbag and carry around with me. I still have my old Peavey Mark IV in its flight case. A great rock and roll mixer, a 16/4/2 Alesis and a Soundcraft Spirit SX 20/2. Bruce
  8. I don't know, you have the 300B amps. My 2A3s really rock for me on the LaScalas. Wish you could get up here to hear them sometime.Bruce
  9. You ever get your Chorus HT setup done? That was a wild weekend for me to drive those up to you. Wish I had been able to just pay your for them and hang on to them. I think you have Michael beat on the collection, too. [*-)]
  10. tc, you had a couple of questions for me but haven't sent an email back... you been busy? Bruce
  11. That's ok, I know the secret handshake...
  12. I had to do some repair work on some surface mount chips at my last employer, and all I had was a small temp controlled iron. I did ok, but wouldn't want to make a habit of it.jc, are you just needing some long interconnects? If so, that wouldn't be too hard to make. You just want to use the in-wall wiring since it is already there?
  13. In a word - YES! Your speaker wire is unshielded, and you don't want to do that.
  14. I have a gas range, with controls on the front. Old school, but it works for me. It is what my wife wanted as well. I like being able to see how the heat is set and knowing that as soon as you turn off the gas, the heat dies down very quickly. All my pots and pans are Saladmaster Stainless. I do have a cast iron skillet, used for cornbread, but I can put about anything on my stove with no problem.
  15. You shouldn't need a CleanBox, partly depending on your preamp. The Crown has a lover input impedance than most tube rpeamps can deal with. If you have a SS preamp, you should have no problem at all.
  16. Too funny Ray. They did make some tubes that were about the diameter of a pencil, but it obviously still wouldn't work. Gave me a laugh just thinking about it.
  17. Cool! Make sure to encourage her. My youngest is at Valparaiso, will be a senior next year, majoring in music composition. He gets to go to Vienna with the school orchestra in May as Principle Trumpet.
  18. My LS fit in the back of my 98 Blazer with no problem. I folded down the back seat, and put in a piece of particle board so there would be one flat surface. Used cheap blankets on that, and the LS were placed horizontally on their backs. The fit between thewheel wells. I measued and measured to make sure, as I picked them up during an 800 mile trip to visit my mom.
  19. Hmmm... the woman who did her own study by raising her own rats, used the equiv. or one 8 oz can of diet soda per day (unless I read it wrong). Anyway, less than one can of diet soda. It doesn't matter to me, I stopped a long time ago. I try to avoid any foods that do contain aspartame. I am still eating far too many porcessed foods. It was easier when my wife would get the majority of our food through a food co-op and local certified organic suppliers.
  20. I guess I sounded very defensive. I apologize. That would have been about the same time period I had mine, too, so it probably had those characteristics. I just was ecstatic to have a four track. I was using the same tape as you, and switched to something else for a while. It escapes me now just what else I tried. They weren't the best machines, but the 3340S suited my purposes at the time. I was a very broke musician, and couldn't afford much. I remember trying a Dokorder, because the specs looked great, it had more controls and a horizontal trnsport with the electronics bridge over the top. It had so many problems that I took it back after about a week.
  21. I'm sorry, but my 3340S was (and still is) incredibly quiet. No head bumps either. Made some wonderful tapes over the years, tapes I wish I still had, that were bounced and up to 10 or 12 tracks. Still stayed pretty quiet.
  22. He DOES want us to use our brains...The FDA is the chief cause of cancer in rats...
  23. The Prima Luna is designed in the Netherlands, built in China. You can swap in various output tube types.
  24. This is nothing new. It is also considered as a mood altering drug, has caused severe vision problems (think airline pilots who was the caffiene but not the suger in soda)... The list is a long one. Here's more: http://www.ehponline.org/members/2007/10271/10271.html Our family quit ingesting aspartame laced products years ago. Makes it hard when you are at a restaraunt and aren't sure what they have put in the food. Also another reason to filter your water supply... And I'm not even that paranoid... [:#]
