Gary, They are looking great. I have some plans for a build very soon, and am trying to decide if I can also put some veneer on them. I may forgo the veneer at the present and see how well I like the sound. I can always make them look pretty later. Did you use a contact cement, or a PVA glue with the heat set method? Bruce

New Crites CT125 tweeters, free shipping
Marvel replied to greg928gts's topic in Technical/Restorations
Dang... if I had been on line, I would have gone ahead and purchased them... nice score. I love them in my LS and need a pair for a project I am working on, too. Bruce -
New Crites CT125 tweeters, free shipping
Marvel replied to greg928gts's topic in Technical/Restorations
Last email I got from Bob (7/17), the price was $150 for forum members, approx. $12 for shipping. Bruce -
Let's see, I hit 58 this past June. It has been a great year so far. 2005 was not as good as my wife passed away from skin cancer. Life moves on and you learn from it. I am pretty satisfied with my life right now. Got a girlfirend, and we're serious about each other. Kids are doing pretty well. Job is going ok. Yup, life is good. And what if everything else was falling apart? Life would still be good. I have my reasons for saying that. Cheers, Bruce

The Parasound gear isn't that well know, but is excellent. That would still be a very good deal for someone.

That just changed my plans for something I am working on Michael. Thanks for the info. Got a project I am working on. There will, of course, be pics I I get it finished up. Bruce

That room looks nice...real wood, too. I love the paneling. You know it isn't the thin, fake stuff people often put up. Those are beautiful speakers to match. If I didn't already have some Heresy IIs and LaScalas, I would be tempted, but I would like to think that KHorns or Jubs might be next.

I don't order things, so I never have to deal with the anxiety. It is much easier that way, and much less expensive.

That's the funniest thing I have read in a long time. I almost fell off my chair I was laughing so hard.

I've been on that bridge, but it has been a couple of years. I have friends in the area I have yet to contact. What a tragedy. Bruce

The big question everyone wants to ask is - DO YOU HAVE PICTURES? It would be nice to see the work... finished, being installed, etc. We love pictures here. Bruce

Chris, I didn't mean to slight you. I forgot you had the cnc set up for making all the cuts. Bruce

Two outa three isn't bad... Bruce

I am sure it is treated in some way. The woofers are made by Eminence. Bob Crites has had some made to a slightly different spec, and could probably fill us in on just what the surrounds are made of. I know it is a cloth. Bruce

Coatings on paper cone drivers (woofers)
Marvel replied to we_doyle's topic in Technical/Restorations
My JBL 4311s have the black, almost sticky coating on the surrounds... still very sticky and flexible since I bought them new in 1972.. There is a huge difference between what Michael was saying about that thin coat on the cones to improve appearance (doesn't take much) to putting stuff on the surrounds. I wouldn't paint them just to be doing it, but you probably aren't going to change the compliance very much, I imagine almost no one could tell without test equipment. Bruce -
Just an FYI, the surrounds aren't paper, they are treated cloth. Bruce

Coatings on paper cone drivers (woofers)
Marvel replied to we_doyle's topic in Technical/Restorations
There are plenty of folks on here with drivers that are 30-40 years old, still going strong. What would hurt would be direct sunlight. A very light coat won't hurt, and some have done that with a black, to make the woofers match better aesthetically (like having bought some off ebay and one was faded). Too much coating and the compliance will change as you are adding mass to the cone. Bruce -
Of course, the decorator doesn't have the recessed front, but the dimensions should help out a lot. Bruce

And the 3 port version. Someone will have to tell you just where the mid and tweet get mounted. These were drawn up by a forum member, with input from others here. Isn't this place great!

How much do you think you could you get out of Colter's house before he even noticed? Bruce -
Finishing suggestions for Cherry Veneer on Cornwalls?
Marvel replied to roblebo's topic in Technical/Restorations
As usual, your work is beautiful. I love the look of cherry. I have a project that I am doing, and am leaning toward the cherry veneer myself. Stunning in a very subdued way. Had you posted these already? NICE! Thanks for posting those Jordan. Bruce -
I couldn't agree more. It would be easy for someone to look at my posts and say to themselves "of course they sound good to him; he is on the klipsch forum and payed big bucks for them". They sound great....still surprised at what I am hearing. The bass is better than my late 88' La scalas. Easily Noticeable. Very clean. Pushed now by all SS stuff....no tubes. Same setup as before. Yes...there needs to be a better way to demo these besides waiting for the Klipsch Pilgrimages. I don't even think the LS2's got much attention at the last Indy trip. If they were demoed there....not many spoke of them. jc After having heard your dual bass bin cabinets, these comments are saying a LOT. Those cabs have bass. Bruce

BigYank, What model JBLs are those in your avatar? I have a pair of L46s here and refinished some L56s for a friend. They sound better when the volume goes up! Bruce
