  1. The last time you did that, I spent 3k on new speakers! Luckily, I'm happy with my current tv. [] Congratulations on the new purchase and enjoy for many years to come!

  3. That's good to hear you resolved it and fwiw, you now have a better version of Audyssey with XT32![Y]
  4. I'm guessing since you have the same problem with a new receiver that the fault lies elsewhere. Have you tried a factory reset on both the tv and the blu-ray player? Also if you haven't already, use a different hdmi input on the tv if available.
  5. Why not just get an XPA-5 (200 x 5) and let it do all the heavy lifting? Plenty of power for your speakers....
  6. When I bought my first set of Klipsch towers (VF-35's) I used my Polk sound bar 50 as a center while looking for the matching center.Thiswas a beast of a soundbar and actually simulated surround pretty well. It retailed around 1k but I stumbled onto it at my local audio store for 90 bux on close out.
  7. I'm looking forward to about a year from now when I log on and read: "Ok, here is a question regarding A/B/C/D.....Z testing" [] Love the looks of the KLF's btw...[Y]
  8. One more set of speakers and you better buy yourself some running shoes! [Y] Enjoy!
  9. ...and make sure he has plenty of "head room"
  10. +1[Y] I've had mine for several weeks now and could not be happier. I'd recommend going with separates but if not at least get a higher powered AVR with pre outs for future expansion. As Bill suggested, accessories4less has some nice offerings on refurb's with warranties......
  11. Let's extinguish any thoughts of getting into a heated argument....[:@]
  12. Congratz! Those were soooo close to coming to Albuquerque once upon a time. I'm glad they found a good home!
  13. That Onkyo receiver is a steal and with pre-outs so you can add an external amp down the road. As others have stated, you can save a tremendous amount of money by buying online. With the money you'll be saving from your initial budget you could also get a decent new AVR. ASD is great to work with but the key is you have to call them directly. Mike Embers will take good care of you and will ship on a pallet that is shrink wrapped and banded. They will also be shipped on a semi and not UPS or Fed-x with free shipping and no sales tax.... Edit: Also ask him for a combo price (RF7II's with the RC-64II)
  14. At least we have lots of options and nothing to rewind![Y]
  15. For streaming there are many choices available. Netflix, VUDU, Cinemanow and Amazon just to name a few. Netflix is ok and def. priced right but as others have stated, the availability of newer releases is very limited. There are still a plethora of selections. VUDU and Cinemanow are pay per view streaming rentals and have great picture and SQ. Typically 3.99 to 5.99 per rental depending on the level of definition you chose. (SD-HDX) VUDU is actually owned by Walmart and you can get promo codes for free rentals on VUDU if you purchase a BR from Walmart. I hate Walmart but this has been a nice add on. Streaming is a great convenience but IMO, there is still nothing like loading that BR disc into the player. As Beechnut stated, Redbox is a great deal and my preferred rental method. 1.50 per rental (return by 9:00 p.m. following day) is cheap and I have 4 locations within a 4 mile radius. It's best if you set up an account online and reserve your movie at the location you find it at. One swipe of your card and your off to your HT.[]
  16. With 4 kid's, spouse and yourself going out to 1 movie vs. Netflix at 8 bux a month for unlimited movies.......no brainer! I agree as to the caca on tv. Especially with teens and pre teens in the household.
  17. For tv's, brp's, etc... that don't have streaming features, an easy and inexpensive way to add streaming capabilities is a Roku or Apple TV box. I have both in different bedrooms and they work great. They can both be purchased under 100.00
  18. From OPPO's website: We expect to begin taking pre-orders for the BDP-103 and ship product in October. Register to be notified of the BDP-103's availability:
  19. Well we knew it wasn't the living room...lol [] How's that battle btw... Edit: sorry for getting off topic[:$]
  20. Did you purchase the amp new from Emotiva? If so, how long ago? If you bought it 2nd hand, the warranty is transferable and should be changed to your name. Reason I'm asking is their customer service has been great with my purchase thus far. I would try to exchange or give them the opportunity to service it if you can't resolve the issue.I would think they have had to satisfy several instances of excessive humming problems.......
  21. I'm not stating that will be a cure but was just saying how mine is connected. Unless you have long runs, there shouldn't be much difference with your current connection method via RCA's. If you have zero noise going from the AVR direct, more than likely it is the amp. I'd try different cables and/or making sure your power lines are away from your source lines. Would hate to see you spend money on a pre/pro and have the same issue........
  22. I've seen a few post on this but my XPA-5 is dead quiet with XLR cables. I have mine plugged directly to the wall outlet and not thru my power strip. I've never heard Parasound but others will probably chime in. I know Youthman is using one and is quite content. btw...Welcome to the forum
  23. I've been thinking about getting some art panels and your post reminded me. Here are some nice ideas and they will do custom art work. Maybe surprise your wife with her favorite family photo or something of that nature...birthday, anniversary or Happy Halloween honey!! []
