Looking to start a road rig and these three builds are on my mind. Industrial LaScala / Kp-301's & KP 250's. I am also interested in a standard pair of laScala's for the home. I live in St James, NY and will drive a 300-400 miles one way to make it happen. Hope some of you hoarders have a pair sitting in your garage. Charlie

WTB: Chorus, Quartet, Forte, CF, or KG 4.2 in NY Metro Area
Charlie Hustle replied to Charlie Hustle's topic in Garage Sale
So I am left with bit of a conundrum in terms of what to buy. When I started this search I was looking for a tower that I could double as a DJ monitor in my home. The small KRK rockit 6's I own just can't keep up to all the klipsch I have going in the same room. Also, I currently have 2 sony towers i have been looking to swap out. They cant keep up with the klippy's either. I can address both of these problems at the same time Ideally i was looking for a forte or chorus and was going to place it right on top of my subwoofer, some other models that have caught my eye's were the klf, cf 4's and kg 3.2, 4.2, 5.2's. Now the conundrum: The above stated Cornwall 2's or a pair of Kg 4.2's. I own a pair of 84 Cornwalls and absolutly love them. I have owned a pair of kg 3.2 and I really liked them too. The 4.2's have the perfect footprint, I don't have much to move around at all. The height of the horn is a little higher than my ear level which means I will no longer have a problem picking up the signal. The cornwall's are a bigger footprint and not a tower, so why are they in the equation you may ask. As you guys know things can always be moved around. I also own a pair of Heresy 2's, one of them could be moved to on top of the subwoofer and accomplish what I want I was looking for (the horn is right at ear level). Where the Heresy currently is I would drop a one of the cornwall's. The "Musical Chairs" continues for a bit until the sony's are left on the outside. Here are the two possible setups: 4 x cornwalls (set of 1's and 2's) 2 x Cornwall i's 2 x Heresy ii's 2 x Heresy ii's 1 x KG 2.2 1 x KG 2.2 1 x KG 2 1 x KG 2 2 x kg 4.2's So the cornwall's proximity is much closer than the kg 4.2's, I don't have to leave Long Island. The kg's are in Connecticut which is not too far either but the cost of getting them escalates from the original price especially if I take the ferry across the Long Island Sound. I think about 200$ separates the two choices. So better sound, less travel headache & more money ( + musical chairs galore ) or Perfect footprint, less money, & more travel, still great sound but not 4 corny's running....... I think I have weighed all the pluses and minuses.... Let's hear your thoughts. Last but not least a picture of the area I was looking to address. -
So I am looking for a pair of any of the above listed speakers. Ideally I would like to find a pair of chorus or forte though I am open to a quartet, cf, or certain kg models. Let me know what you guys got lying around. Im located in St James Long Island NY. I will drive a decent distance for the right pair ( 200 miles each way). Not really looking to go the craig's list route. Thank you everyone for your time.

Hello Klipschtonians, I am about to undertake the rebuilding of my studio as I move into my new place. There are a few gaps that need filling in along the way. The equipment that I own is as follows: 1 set of Cornwalls circa 1984 , 1 set of Heresey II's circa 1987, 1 KG 2.5, 1 KG 2, and a 10 inch self powered krk sub. I had a set of kg 3.2 but I gave them to my brother along with an amp and sub. I used to run all audio through my Ecler Hak 360 DJ Mixer in a room that was 20 x 30. I have an Onkyo tx-sr303 a/v receiver but I think an upgrade is in order. There is also a 47" LG being incorporated into the mix. Here is what I am thinking: 2 x Onkyo A-9050 Amps to power all 8 spots. This i am pretty set on as I have always loved onkyo amps and these can be daisy chained together with their audio outs. The signal I send to the speakers will always be a direct one, so 2 channels 4 times. The sub will be connected to the Ecler on the Master 1 xlr outs while i send the signal to the amps on the rca master 2 out. DAC from the TV which will be connected to both amps: I saw three models that caught my eye. 1. Oppo HA-1 which looks to be a very respectable DAC but is a little pricey. 2. Music Hall 15.2 DAC. Much cheaper DAC but looks like it will do the same job as the Oppo but doesnt have all the same bells and whistles. 3. Music Hall 25.3 DAC. Looks to have the same capability as the Oppo Ha-1 Speakers: I have one opening now but swapping the KG2 and 2.5 out probably will happen at one point or another. 1. Klipsch La Scala's ( ideal ) the speakers seem to always get bigger, last set I bought was the Cornwalls. 2. Klipsch Forte II's 3. Klipsch Chorus II's 4. Klipsch KLF 30's 5. Klipsch KG 4.2's or 5.2's Let me know your thoughts, setup will occur in a Loft with dimensions roughly 40' (length) x 25' (width). I am not too concerned with placement as I will have sound coming from almost every direction. Charlie

I think your price is fine. Anyone looking to build a surround system rig, this is right up there alley. I'd stay firm on your prices and wait it out, someone will come along and scoop something up. Charlie

My 1981-Cornwalls are finally arrived!
Charlie Hustle replied to jimmytamp's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
Congratulations on the Conrwalls, Of all the Klipsch gear I have purchased so far, my favorite was the cornwall purchase. My only recommendation would be to get the risers for underneath them, It only raises them 2 inches or so but I think they make a big difference not being directly on the floor. Enjoy the sound sir , may you have many more purchases to come Charlie -
Klipsch saved the day and then some!!! Last week I visited New York for the first time since moving to Florida in the beginning of May. Before I flew out on Thursday I was informed that an event I was attending was in need of sound because something fell through. So rather than having my friends renting and wasting money on professional sound I volunteered my time and Heresy II speakers to power the event along with a KRK 10 subwoofer and an Onkyo A/V Receiver. The event went off without a hitch and I can say the sound performed better than most rigs I have used in Live Venues around New York City. Over 200 people attended the 10th Annual Drum & Bass BBQ and I saw nothing but smiles. I can honestly say I did not even have to come close to turning up the sound to the max to get desired volumes. I was told the sound could be heard from outside Cedar Creek Park in Wantagh too. So once again Klipsch sound did not disappoint. Thanks for making kick *** speakers that can hold up to anything!!!! 1969 K-Horns. What's your opinion?
Charlie Hustle replied to Serge_S's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
Thanks for the clarification on the proper placement of them .... i still think its a viable option to redo the closet space but i guess i am in the minority. I think it would beneficial for the listener too because you would have more space between you and the speaker. Anyways, different strokes fro different folks. I am sure it still sounds tremendous down there and if Budman is happy, thats all that matters. Enjoy the horns.... hope one day I can say I have a pair of k-horns in the home Charlie -

1969 K-Horns. What's your opinion?
Charlie Hustle replied to Serge_S's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
Silly me, I forgot the khorn uses the corner of the wall as an extension of itself. Well, aesthetically speaking they look out of place at the moment. You could still corner them in the closet space and i bet they would look much better there.. As for optimal positioning ( 4 feet off the wall ) i think they would be almost next to the listener in the front row. I just wonder how much of a difference there would be when the speakers are already that super close to the listener. Charlie -
1969 K-Horns. What's your opinion?
Charlie Hustle replied to Serge_S's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
Some food for thought... Looking like those khorns could fit in the closet space if you took those doors off. I dont know what you have hiding in them but flush with the wall always looks great. You would probably want to change the dimensions of the closet to fix the acoustics too. Regardless, I salute you for your journey and dedication. Congratulations on your new babies & Enjoy the sound!! Charlie -
More Bass Please!!! Nice to see you knocked the cover off. I wondered if any of you klipschtonians were listening to bass heavy tunes. If you like the wobble maybe this might tickle your interest. This is more on the jazzy / atmospheric side of Drum & Bass. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLGzm0ZjO2U Enjoy Charlie.

Hello Tom, I can say having all the speakers on that one wall is not the best placement. I'd say one speaker in each corner would give you the best balance of sound. I know I really wasn't happy until I had sound coming off three walls. So even at soft volumes I still felt encompassed with the music. Also raising the KG's up a foot or so would really make em shine. Like say one of em directly on top of that subwoofer would put them at the perfect listening height and maybe another on a stand of some sorts. Or maybe another subwoofer if at all possible. Best of Luck with the placement Charlie

SOLD - 1993 Forte II in Oak Clear Finish with Original Boxes - SOLD
Charlie Hustle replied to Youthman's topic in Garage Sale
Why Not Use Both?!!! With both A & B channels going. I am almost certain the 4 speakers placed properly is better then 2 ever will be, especially at softer volumes. Charlie -
Going old school....need speaker advice!
Charlie Hustle replied to Pronex's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
I love how this thread has progressed. Started with kg4's and now we got him looking at quartets chorus and fortes... Maybe even cornwall's .... I'd say get the kg 4's from ur friend, I imagine you will get a good deal. After listening to them for a while you will want more speakers.. Call it a hunch. Though if u can find a good deal on a heritage line speaker then go for it. Charlie
