  1. Up for sale is a Yamaha M-45 amplifier. I've always had a thing for this series of Yamaha amps. This series is underrated by 10-20% and the red meters are just cool. This amp works like a charm. It is not in perfect shape. The cage has some scratches and there are few nicks on the face, but it looks fine from normal viewing/listening distance. Minimum RMS Output Power Per Channel 20 Hz to 20 kHz 0.003% THD, 8 ohms........125 watts 0.007% THD, 6 ohms........150 watts 0.002% THD, 4 ohms........180 watts Auto Class A Operation Range (8 ohms)........ 10 watts Dynamic Power per channel (IHF) 1 khz: 8 ohms/6 ohms/4 ohms/2 ohms 170W/210W/285W/390W
  2. Up for sale is a used vintage Yamaha CR-1040 Stereo Receiver. The unit is in really good condition. It's been tested and it is in excellent working order. The faceplate is perfect. All lights are illuminated. The tuner bank is dimmer than the other two. I've ordered the new lamps and the unit is awaiting a bulb replacement surgery. Should be completed this week. The case is in good condition. I included a picture that shows the wear on the back right corner and the vinyl may be peeling a tiny bit along the bottom. I'm pretty critical in my description, but I promise you that it looks really good. I just give full disclosure. As for power, I believe it is 100 watts x 2 @ 8 ohms and 120 watts x 2 @ 4 ohms and I believe there are five source inputs.

  7. I wonder why the Epic series wasn't designed with the horn at the top???
  8. I have an issue with the proliferation of non-native invasive plants which result in the reduction of native wildlife.
  9. I've been sick after drinking large amounts of beer, but I always blame it on food or allergies.
  10. I'm with the one above me, however, I wasn't always in this camp. I have 417 Bermuda in my yard. First, St. Augustine and Bermuda are not native to the US. St. Augustine and the hybrid bermuda I have require a lot more water than native grasses. I too was once sold by the golf course look, but as our population increases in areas with limited rain we can not sustain these type of lawns. Do a search for a mix of native grasses for Texas. There is a blend that a professor from UT came up with that is very successful here in Texas.
  11. Used Paradigm Servo 15 for $450. Used Velodyne HGS-15 for around $750. Plenty of SVS and HSU subs.
  12. Up for sale is used Acurus Direct Input Amplifier which was purchased from the original owner. The unit is in very good cosmetic condition with only some nicks around the edges of the faceplate. The front of faceplate its self has no noticeable markings. The unit was tested and found to be in excellent working condition. I did notice the green LED light tends to dim and brighten. The amplifier was tested with a pair of Klipsch speakers and did an admirable job driving them. The one unique feature this amplifier has is once the power switch is turned off the amplifier section powers down easily over 30 seconds if the source unit is still on, so not to have a hard power clip. Really a nice feature. The amplifier is rated at 100 watts per channel @ 8 ohms and 150 watts per channel @ 4 ohms. It has six inputs for source units and one pair of speaker outputs
  13. I'm partial to the Panasonic players. Extreme performance at a fraction of the price of the Oppos.
  14. Up for sale is a used Yamaha tuner that is in really good condition. The unit was tested and found to be in excellent working condition. The unit is extremely sensitive and able to pull in stations I typically don't receive very well in my house. The unit is in really good condition. The only thing to mention is that a previous owner had engraved a number for identification purpose, but other than that I see no issues.
  15. Kind of a gloomy today with plenty of rain. Which is welcome given how dry it has been around here. Denton is really becoming a vibrant community with the Downtown area exploding with new restaurants and bars, plus the outskirts are seeing the typical subdivision growth and shopping areas added. This weekend is a big music festival, 35 Denton, which will bring close to 50,000 to the Downtown area. I love it here. With two colleges in town, it makes for a very eclectic setting and a great music town.
  16. Oh wow! That's awesome stack of green! I need to take a photo with the lights down to show off the meters.
  17. I'm selling a vintage Onkyo Amp and Pre-Amp. These things are in excellent condition. I hate to let these go, but I just don't have the need from them. The one bulb that was out was replaced and all lights are working great. I believe the amplifier is rated at 120 x 2 @ 8 ohms and 160 x 2 @ 4 ohms. The items are in excellent condition with no noticeable scratches or dings. The woodgrain side panels are in excellent condition, I will need to retake some photos of the sides. The photos I took did not turn out very good and did not do the sides justice. Here is a link to a page with the features, benefits and specifications for the amp: http://audio-database.com/ONKYO/amp/integram-506-e.html Here is a link to a page with the features, benefits and specifications for the pre-amp: http://audio-database.com/ONKYO/amp/integrap-306-e.html
  18. Doubling the power, theoretically will give you 3 db increase in volume. If those numbers are correct power than you would get a 1.5 db bump in volume. Not really noticeable. You may notice a little more oomph on an explosion and can tell that it is tighter during those times.
  19. I use a Shure m97xe in that price range and love it. I'm not sure how it compares to the red Ortofon though.
  20. Since he specifically mentioned Heresy and Cornwall and I assume he is considering either the original series or series II. I don't see any comment to Klipschorns or LaScallas. With that said, the RF-7's will have a wider frequency range. They will play lower than either of those models and have a frequency range that extends beyond 20hz. The RF-7's also have a much smoother response curve than the those models. As those Heritage models roll off a fair amount beyond 12 khz. The RF-7's will handle more power and therefore can play louder before breaking up. Now which will be more pleasing to the ears? That's a personal preference and a lot depends on the application and on the room. I personally like the Heritage line and own a system based on Forte II's and have had the opportunity to move to an RF-7 based setup and I elected not to. Remember CD measurements are head and shoulders better than vinyl in every regard, but most will agree that vinyl is more pleasurable when compared to standard redbox CD.
  21. From a measurement standpoint, I think the RF-7 setup would measure the best. From an excitement level, the Heritage line just seems to be more engaging. Both would be great and I have tried to have both setups simultaneously so I could compare, but I just haven't been able to swing it. I would have no problem with either.
  22. I'm going to need to think about this before I post. I don't think I can narrow it down to two though.
  23. I have them DVR'd, but haven't had time to sit down and watch them yet. I will exit this topic so my viewing excitement isn't spoiled.
