  1. So this is a 7.2 receiver. I'm not sure I'm understanding the problem. You get lfe when you just leave the sub on, which would tell me the receiver has sub out on. Per CECAA suggestion, all speakers to small. Is this your current setting? Sub out to yes. Run D.C.A.C, and then raise the sub trim through the receiver. Out of sheer curiosity, where do you have the volume on the sub itself set?
  2. Might be a setting in the Sony. Or, the rocker switch on the sub might not be set to auto. Have you tried turning up the sub trim on the receiver? Not familiar with Sony receivers, but if it's a HT receiver it should have a separate sub trim. Oh, and welcome to the forum.
  3. I'm in the middle of building a 17Hz tapped horn that only has a 28 1/2" x 25 3/8" footprint and uses a 15' 15Hz in room should not be a problem. It IS kind of tall though Did you design this yourself? I'd be curious to hear your impressions. I love horn subs.
  4. Room gain will get you lower. The cinema F-20 is a 20 Hz tapped horn and it does great for HT. The THT is tuned to 22Hz (I think) and people love it for HT. THT is a 20hz tune. I've never been able to measure mine, as I have no equipment to do so. But I do know MaxMercy got usable output on his down to 12hz in his room. He's a site admin on the data-bass forums (in case no one knows that name here).
  5. Do you think tuning to 20 hz is good enough for home theater or does it really need to be tuned to 15? What did you model this at? Yes, at least 15. I love my THT, but wish it went to at least 15. But, it would have to be a lot bigger, and I would have to use a 18, just like a Ghorn.
  6. How do you like it? It looks great; however, it's not something I would have personally done. How does it sound to you?
  7. Awesome score. Looks like a sweet TV, here's hoping the wife approves. At least you didn't pay for it, so that should sweeten the pot.
  8. Nice grab. I'd be interested in the One when you go to sell it. I've missed mine ever since I broke it, and I really need a universal for the HT. Thanks!
  9. What's your budget? Are you handy? Do you have clamps? Access to clamps?
  10. Guess it depends on what you're looking to accomplish.

    SOLD

Beautiful. Makes me wish I lived in Ohio. GLWS! Someone will get a great pair of KLF20s.
  12. PSA and Reaction Audio are the two newest ID companies on the ID block. Both make awesome subs. I'm really liking Reaction Audios stuff. It's what I would buy if I didn't already go DIY.
  13. One alone is definatly not. I'm guessing I would need at least 4 18's to pressurize my room. That was origianlly my plan, until I came across the THT. I still want to build the 18's though, as I know I'm missing a lot. 2000 for the Empire would be just right. Two in that room would sound awesome. How about DIY or AIY?
  14. $600 is high. I had one and sent it back; in my room, which is large (4500 cu.ft), it didn't have the impact I was hoping for. Don't get me wrong, it sounded great. But, I would have needed at least 1 more, maybe 2, to have the impact I was wanting. My THT does it easily. Two totally different beasts though. Good luck.
  15. Watched TMNT on Wednesday, glad I rented it and didn't waste money buying it.
  16. Have 2 plasmas. I've owned a Samsung plasma that sucked, and a Sony XBR4 that was fantastic - sold it when I bought my KURO. Still haven't scene a TV with a better picture than the KURO. I know OLED will surpas it one day, when it does hopefully it'll be affordable.
  17. Room looks great man, totally transformed. How are you liking it? Did you work out the glitches you were having with the 4520?
  18. Watched Guardians on Tuesday....wow. Must watch something tonight.
  19. THT is always the same height, 36". Width can be up to 36" also, essentially giving you a 36x36x36 box. However, I don't know of any normal door that would fit through. Also, as Mustang said earlier, it comes down to the laws of diminishing returns. I'm guessing there isn't a whole lot of difference between a 30" THT and a 36". But, I could very possibly be wrong. It's happened before . Have no idea regarding passband.
  20. Love my old NAD receiver (T763), and I'm currently using it to power my LCR due to the Denon's harshness at higher volumes. NADs just have a wonderful warmth to them; you can find some nice integrated amps on Ebay.
  21. Really nice Scrappy! Congrats!
  22. This is Madaeel's system. He was the first person to receive these subs. If you want specifics on the subs themselves - http://www.bossobass.com/Bossobass.com/Raptor.html
  23. Another vote for SVS and Rythmik. Put PSA and Reaction Audio should also be considered. I would do some reading on AVS
