Great post and totally agree, mine came from China and it cost two Bones shipping. Tube sound has long ago spoiled me, however SS has its place. My next Mod will be splitting off the Sub base and going with an active SS crossover, one guy here in our forum has pics of this for around $800 I believe. Other than that, tubes will forever be part of my life.

Im keeping all these great ideas for when I retire in another state, because by the time I do retire Calif will outlaw anything that works. Friggin Commie state. god I hate this place. Thanx for these great ideas guys, they will come in handy .....

I spoiled mine when having the idea of building mine, I built hers FIRST, pics in my gallery. After I built hers she did not give a rats azz what I was up to in the Mancave, of course until she heard it. her Class A tube system pushes maybe 45 watts, Mancave system 45 switchable to 70 watts, her's is also KT88s.

Wife came into the Mancave so Celtic music for a bit.........

You need to work on your craigslist skills. Don't haggle until you're face to face, and certainly don't throw price statistics in the seller's face via email. Show up ready to take and pay full price, haggle from there. Remember speakers aint cars, you cannot test drive them first, im not driving 404 miles and be willing to pay $850 bones for a couple of wooden boxes. When I buy used speakers I expect the worse, can you imagian the cost of replacing everything in a LaScalla ? Before I plan a trip id like to at least have some of the cost incurred, done, this guy would not send a pic.

Sometimes I get it right, I was correct in figuring a two day slow ramp up to half power in the new Crites crossovers. Today being the second day, started @17 watts for an hour, then started getting into the heavy metal because I wanted to get that base blossoming, 30 min into the Melvins and Avenged Sevenfold, the base came through, pictures falling off the walls, PC monitor moving on the desk, yeah I think iv got it. Going for a Guinness, I open the mancave reffer and three cans came out on the floor, it seems they were dancing in the fridge! No neighbors, no cops, just the wife wandering in asking me to play it again........

Well iv been running two channel tubes for ten years but I do not count the first five, learning curve. Involved in electronics since 10 years old, but my tube stuff was all SSB/Ham linear amps, slowly phasing out of the Ham world. Class 'A' Amps, tube, once acquired is my passion now. 40+ years talking to the world as a Ham operator has not given me the feeling I can get with an hour of Class A listening.

Checkout Ebay for 'Class A' equipment, it changes daily.

Norcal is finely getting a few raindrops, we just got Hydroplane races back last year at folsom lake, just heard they are cancelled for 2014. Our stupid Dam operators around here drained all four Dams we have. likely to save some stupid fish that will die now anyway. Calif is great eh ?

Im burning in my new Crites at this very moment w/Ozzy.

The only thing left in Calif that is not taxed "so far" is the weather. 60 at the current time of 4am and smells like rain.
