  1. Same scenario for me! I had a 2S for about 2 years followed by a high lottery number. Times have changed. Now I have a son-in-law who volunteered and has 2 tours in the middle East under his belt. Proud of him. Gonna take advantage of our last warm day for a while and smoke some ribs. Cup #2 first. Have a great Sunday everyone.
  2. Happy Friday guys. Busy day for a change. Business this morning, try to get in some yardwork (winter coming on Monday, they say) and meet-up with some friends later this afternoon. 2 cups of coffee down already!! And ... they call this 'semi-retirement'. Right!!
  3. Mornin' gang. Been goofing off so much this week, I've gotta do some catch up today. Good day to do it ..sunny and mid-60's. Mark, good to hear you're on the mend. Will check back. Chuck
  4. Heck, I thought I was being 'thrifty' when I got the 103 instead of the 105. Wouldn't trade it ...great well built unit. Thanks for an interesting discussion.
  5. Those are amazing. Never played a pipe organ. This old rock n' roller, country guy would be overwhelmed, but I'd love to hear a classical musician play either or both of those. Thanks for posting. Chuck
  6. Ditto from me. Enjoy it and do something nice for yourself.
  7. I switched from a Denon AVR to Marantz separates for HT and never looked back. I've always liked the Marantz 'house' sound and before I made the switch in my HT, used to have a Marantz integrated in my 2 ch system for quite a while and knew that it was a good match for Klipsch. It may depend on whether your emphasis is on sound or AV features. Denon is by no means a bad choice. I just subjectively prefer the sound I get from Marantz and I'm not as 'into' the features as some of the other folks here.
  8. That looks great. Nice job from top to bottom. HT is especially attractive!!
  9. Tried that line on the wife, didn't work. There have been MANY bad "organ" jokes in our house. Keep trying!!
  10. If they stretch it past, there will be an uprising... Good organ playing weather... You got that right ...on both counts! Then again, ALL weather is good organ playing weather. Think I'll call up a buddy who keeps a guitar at my house (he's a sometimes pro musician) and see if we can do some jammin'.
  11. Perhaps something involving electricity would be effective?
  12. Happy Tuesday folks. Not much on the agenda today. Already voted by mail-in. Perhaps today is the end of obnoxious political attack ads. Hope so.
  13. We watched 'Transcendence" last night. Not the best I've seen recently but quite good and a lot better than many of the jaded critics gave it credit for. Good commentary on out-of-control technology along with decent acting. Special effects were good.
  14. Mornin' all. Pretty good day yesterday. I think we passed the puppy parenting test when the volunteer from the Springer rescue operation paid us a home visit. He brought a foster care Springer with him who was rescued from a puppy mill. Cute little guy in the process of being socialized and doing fairly well for all the neglect he suffered. We're hoping one of the foster pups will be in our home soon. What a rush. Even watching the Broncos get their butts kicked couldn't bring us down! Not much on the agenda today. Rainy and cold (snow in the mountains). Have an excellent day, all.
  15. You've gotten some really good suggestions. Needle Doctor is a great place to look. Don't overlook Pro-Ject turntables. They have some really nice sounding tables in their lower price range and are well reviewed. I've been happy with mine and am about to upgrade the cartridge.
  16. Happy Sunday, folks. Today's the day we get a 'home visit' from the Springer rescue folks. Guess they want to check us out to see if we're fit parents for a pup. Stay tuned for updates. Starting out as a gorgeous Colorado morning but may not last. Can't really tell from the forecast ...and they are often wrong. Have a great day guys. Check back later. Chuck

    Haloween Hands

One thing is clear, Marty ... you are into "digital."
  18. You ever correspond with forum member Tigerman? He’s a Hammond man too! Didn't know that .......thanks! On the Eric Clapton DVD "one more car, one more rider" from 2001 Billy Preston was playing the h3ll out of a Hammond organ. It was one of Billy's last recordings before he passed away, on that DVD he played the song "will it go round in circles ?". They're all over the place in rock 'n roll ... some of my favs are early Santana. They still pop up in rock and even country. Blues and jazz of course. Sometimes it's hard to tell if it's a real Hammond or a keyboard. There's a B3 "section" in just about every keyboard imitating the sound and some of them are pretty good. Cheers.
  19. I've got both the 30's and CW III's. I run two systems with CW's in 2 channel and the 30's as the mains in an all KLF HT. If I were getting KHorns, I'd put em in 2 channel and keep the 30's for HT, while getting rid of my CW's. So ... the answer is 'it all depends' on your particular set up(s) and what YOU like.
  20. Great Halloween pics!! We went to a bash with friends, too, but don't have pictures. Morning to all!!
  21. You ever correspond with forum member Tigerman? He’s a Hammond man too! Didn't know that .......thanks!
  22. It's what I play!! ( And what a bunch of REAL musicians play as well).
  23. Dave, so sorry to hear about your Dad's illness. Prayers and good thoughts coming your way. Chuck
  24. Happy Halloween guys!! Who's goin' trick or treating??!!
