  1. Am glad for your success and enjoyment--esp. going with the larger and more capable, meaning pleasure providing, speakers. May I ask another question? As you just set up your X2100W, and my X1100W arrived today, I am having a little trouble. It seems that I cannot simply recreate the connections I had with my previous receiver. The 1100 is being used in my bedroom, with only a soundbar for speakers, plus a soundbar set up in Zone 2. I thought the correct process would be to turn the TV speakers off, and hook a digital optical cable from the back of the TV to the back of the soundbar so that the TV audio would come exclusively from the soundbar. Doesn't seem to be working. My 1100 inputs are: HDMI 1 = the sat cable from the sat box, HDMI2 = the Blue Ray, HDMI3 = the TV. Get audio from the TV when I turn the audio on, but when off, no audio, only video. Ya know, it surely would help to not be stupid . . . .
  2. stygz, excellent, understandable, and RAPID response. Thanks so much. I, too, am awaiting a receiver delivery today from FedEx, on a Denon X1100 for bedroom and Zone 2 use in my wife's office (it is one of the few modestly-priced AVR that has a separate audio source for Zone 2). A week and a half ago, I received my Yamaha RX-A2030 and my RX-V575. My setup is, as wvu80 said, a work in progress (hence, my question to you). Really like them. Let's go have some more fun!
  3. Stygz, like all the others, congratulations and enjoy! A lot and for a long time. Might I ask you (and others) 2 questions, as I am not certain of the impact of actually knowing what I am doing might be: How do you check that your HDMI cables are "high speed"? Its relationship to ARC? I too want to use my Klipsches for Netflix (I do for everything else), but I do not know how to "simply" accomplish that. Was told once to run an optical cable from the TV to my AVR . . . . So, thanks, and enjoy your ride!
  4. Hey, to all who remain, however bleary-eyed and needing to go to bed--I am. Good night to all, and may we all wake up tomorrow and rejoice that we have!
  5. ??? The original post was . . . ? Am glad there is collegial talk and discussion. And certainly sports teams and players are great fun to talk about. But wasn't the original post about something greater than specific teams or players, no matter how magnificent they were? So really the "derailment" is from the original post, not the follow-on posts, wouldn't you agree?
  6. ^ Undoubtedly. And what a wonderful, work he was! Quality! I remember a sweater my Grandmother gave me at my age of 18. As unaware and self-centered as I was at that age, I knew that it represented a lot of money for her. Did not understand her comment that it would give her more pleasure that I have it than it would cost her. The quality of that wonderful sweater endured over 30 years, absolutely undiminished by time or wear--until I manage to snag it on a big nail, and continue moving . . . . Moral: quality endures, does not go out of style, and more than pays for itself over cheap or counterfeit articles.
  7. BigStew, not to detract from the importance of what various posters are expressing, but don't forget George Blanda--that ageless magician!
  8. Hey, BigStew, how I loved the Raiders! I remember living out in the Bay area (1961-1962 on the Presidio, right at the southern foot of the Golden Gate Bridge), and then from 1962-1964 in San Mateo--how special the Raiders were! Art Powell, Tom(?) Cotton, Gus Otto (who lives in St. Louis now), and many others. What fun to listen to the games on the radio (couldn't afford to attend them). Remember Otis Sistrunk ("University of Mars"--courtesy of Alex Karras), Ray Guy, Ken Stabler and Jim Plunkett, and on and on? What fun! Thank you for your "Like". Our God is an (the only) awesome God, and I so want to evidence the love to Him that I surely have not earned!
  9. ^ I don't know about all of that. I do know, as a hard-core atheist of 22 years, just how merciful and loving my God has been to me, saving me from my arrogance, vanity, self-confidence, my delusions and stupidity, and my "self-sufficiency". My gratitude brings tears to my eyes every time (which is frequently) I consider His work for me and with me and in me. I do pray that understanding for others, too!
  10. Agree with the original post/point. Admittedly, have not read all the responses, running the gamut from on target and specific to disinterested to dismissive and to flippant. However, may we not want/expect/aspire to decent and respectful talk and conversation among ourselves? Especially when we knowingly or disrespectfully refer to the greatest of Holy of Holies--our God, Lord, Savior, Creator of us all, and sure hope of all who love Him? It is not cute or amusing, or "accepted" or of no import when I hear the name of our Lord tossed about so mindlessly, so absently, so casually--and worse yet, as a pejoritive ("God damn". when God so wants us to know Him and love Him and relate with Him. He sacrificed Himself to save all who will know and come to Him, not to "damn" us to hell.). So, thank you for the initial and post, because this is something that needs expression, discussion, and understanding--NOW. To provide even a modest scale of reference . . . how much reluctance would we impose upon ourselves to substitute very worldly terms and names in the place of "God". Ethnic names? Murderous religious names? Racial names? But we do for the One who created and loves and provides for us so? Thank you all for the opportunity to express my thoughts about this!
  11. avguy, surely hope you get the problem figured out. Like the others here with the 30s, I have NO lack of bass.
  12. Uh, JL, is this too public a place to ask if you will whack for food? I do have a tree that is causing me some worry . . . .
  13. Please, "get thee behind me"--I drove from St. Louis to Minneapolis a few months ago for a pair of KLF-10s. Of course, the purchase also included a KLF-C7, and the LF-10 that was recently inquired about here (that few had any familiarity with). Drove up--approximately 530 miles, made the purchase, and drove back (taking only a 1 1/4 hour detour while lost in Des Moines, and a couple of short Navy power naps). Returned nearly exactly 24 hours after departure. Worth every penny, and every minute of effort--on a not-so-young body!
  14. Darn, Ibiza, just sold my white RS-3s last weekend! Personally, I think they have a very good sound, but: 1) what do I really know?, 2) it is my opinion only, and 3) is my ears, and no one else's.
  15. ^ avguytx, I am in a similar situation to yours with DirecTV (and am about 30 miles west of St. Louis, and a shorter distance to the NW of the actual broadcast towers), and some other posters in this thread. Have begun the torturous process of educating myself (slow work!). Though: Wish like heck I knew all the right questions to ask--BEFORE I DO ANYTHING OR BUY ANYTHING; I know that I do want some channels, such as ESPN/ESPN2, Mizzou football, and the channels that broadcast the Cards games (600 something on DTV), and a few others, too; Believe that I could livestream the games from the internet??? Need to accommodate at least 3 locations, which on numerous occasions will be wanting different programming. Guess I need to find someone local--and pay him/her. Someone who is knowledgeable about home networking, media centers, equipment capabilities and limitations, and so on. Not easy to do on a buck and a half!

    What I Got Today!

Well, went ahead and did it. Sold my Pioneer Elite SC-35 yesterday, and have ordered a Yamaha RX-A2030 for the great room. And sold my Yamaha RX-Z9 yesterday, too, and bought a Yamaha RX-V575 for here in my 2.0/3.0 home office. The Z9 was waaaay overkill in my office, and after having 2 receivers throw craps on me recently, I started to become leery of my 4.5 year old and ~11 year old receivers. Also sold a variety of my speakers (including some Synergy F-2s & S-1 surrounds, RS-3 surrounds, KLF-C7 center, KG 4.2s, and a couple of subs) which I had been accumulating for who knows what purpose. Has been a busy couple of weeks . . . . Arrival of the new Yamahas scheduled for this Saturday!
  18. Whew! God is merciful, indeed. A shame, though, how often as we age (becoming "wiser"), so often we tend to reach out to grab the hand of God when: 1) we want something, 2) we are afraid, or 3) when we have no other, more earthly or "practical" answer or hope. Excellent reasons all, but how much more it pleases Him when we think of and relate with Him FIRST.
  19. Had one, and even made some inquiries about it here on the Forum a few months ago. Got it in a small "group" purchase. Sold it at a price that made the purchaser very happy. So, good deal all the way around.

    Opus be Praised

Opus not only is a straight shooter, he is a good guy--unselfish and kind!
  21. Michael, my friend, as "they" say, happiness is wanting what you have, not having what you want. So, you have this wonderful sub on its way. As we sang this morning, " . . . rejoice, and be glad in it." Forget all the spec sheet comparisons, wondering if you have done all the right things, and uncertainty. Looking backward. Look ahead. Simply configure, and spend your time being delighted! Your friend, Jim.

    R-115SW :)))

Say, Matthews, the quote above harkens back to my time in the Navy. You a veteran? Navy, too? Bravo Zulu, regardless!!

^ My tale is funny for a moment. Your additions and subsequent enjoyment will be the stuff of years for you! Am pleased for you.

You should have seen me getting my Outlaw sub home from UPS--positioned in the trunk opening of my wife's 2005 Ford Mustang convertible (80% of it hanging out) and lashed to the trunk hinges very redundantly! Looked about like The Beverly Hillbillies truck!
