  1. I still think its just bad connection in wiring,,,just pull the woofer out to get to wires loosen and re-tighten all connetions on crossover....then try it if still there look at soldered connections on drivers,,,easy to do this first,,,,if it was a diaphram i think it would just stop working.Rick
  2. Thanks for the help i will check dye out.The spots are pinky finger size right on the front, figures and stick out like a sore thumb i knew this was going to good lol.I didnt worry about the spots right away i thought i could just stain them and move on but now i am stuck. Rick

  4. Wow wait a minute....check all wires going to crossover and midrange loosen and retighten all conetions...re solder mid range if you have to. The midrange is one tuff cookie not going bad like that i dont think...Rick
  5. My walnut veneering is coming along good but i got a problem. Seems veneer was a little thin in two spots and i cant stain the spots i guess because of glue holding the backing on. Does anyone have an idea what i can do ,i have let stain sit on it for an hour it just wipes off wont take stain, just need to make it darker to hide the spot somehow. Man this was going good till this happened i have racked whats left of my brain,,lol,,on this...Rick
  6. I met Mr.Klipsch first when i was 16 my mom drove me to a stereo shop in KC i didnt know he was going to be there i walked in and he treated me like an adult not some stupid kid i got some buttons that i still have. Then i finally got a pair of LaScalas and my wife and i drove to Hope to see factory and met him again for brief moment. Another time was a demonstration at another KC stereo shop they had Heresys set up to provide sound for a slide show to a tree felling. When that tree hit the ground i bet everyone in there looked around for the tree,,lol...i just set back and smiled...Meeting Paul Klipsch is something i will never forget Rick Tate
  7. I think a better false wall would be to lay 2 by 4s down interlocking them at the corner one over the other this would add mass to the wall and make it work better i think. You could then put wall board or paneling on it to finish it out only needs to be as high as bass bin to. Rick
  8. The people buying your house get LaScalas with it,,wow,,what a deal,,,,rick
  9. How did you get them so quick is factory getting better or were these already made ?? Which model did you get?finish? Save the boxes those are worth gold nowadays man you could rent them out,,lol,,,Rick
  10. Im going to have to disagree with dantfmly about the Heresy woofer,,,,i think its been 12 inch all the time. We may need HDBR,,Andy to confirm this but i have seen some very old ones and they all are 12 inch woofers. Rick
  11. If you paint it then use that spray on glue it will work fine on the paint i did this and the fabric will look better than just trying to glue it on the back edge,,,,the spray on glue is great and that fabric fom dura crest mathes perfect,,,Rick
  12. I used glue on the big cracks i could see...then spread silicone on all the inside joints to,,,,easy to do. I got mine so airtight now the woofer acess door buldges out when air is applied. A little air still escapes but nothing like it was believe me lol.Im still working on redoing mine so not sure how they sound but im sure the leaks were not good, Rick P.S. a couple of joints where i couldnt reach or see i just poured glue in there and later i saw it run out into the horn throat so it was very big gap there
  13. I think the gasket on the bass bin door is the least of your worries...in my redoing of my Ks i found air leaks that are alot worse than the gasket on the door could ever be.I sealed and glued the seems on the inside of my bass bins they are pretty airtight now, The way i tested this was i sealed up the woofer slot with piece of wood and rubber gasket,,,then put the bass bin door on except for one screw that went into the airtight chamber.I applied compressed air into te screw hole then its easy to hear or feel the leaks,,,,if its pretty airtight air will come back out screw hole when you remove the air hose...Rick
  14. I would just get a HK430 and be done wth it,,,,works and sounds great on Klipsch.Rick
  15. Well bikes are alot lot speakers...like a 6oo dollar road bike is good a 1500 hundered one is alot better but a 4000 dollar one is not going to be alot better.Kinda like ...Heresy to Scala BIG improvment but from LaScala to Klipschorn only us audio nuts would notice...Rick
  16. The best thing to do is find a shop that has riders and older guys in it....if not pro riders atleast ones that ride and love the sport.I ride an old 1980 Motobecan love it so i cant tell you to buy or not buy a certain type of frame. There are good steel frames and carbon frames more up to the rider...the shop i work at sells Trek,Lemond,Bianchi,etc,...the owner got a new lower end brand now to called Felt looks good he wants me to buy it and put my bike in the smithsonian,,,lol...any way we hope we helped you out,,,,the knee poping could be seat to low,,,,to far forward,,,if you need help on setting the bike up just ask,,,easy to do,,,Rick
  17. Well i paid 1000.00 for these but i have tried the e-bay thing,,,most went through the roof then when you add on shipping forget it. I got these cause i could go see them make sure i was not getting ripped off,,,they are not in bad shape really just need some care.I will be veneering them..i was bummed out at first about the redoing of them but now i think its more like im saving them and making them into B models to. So in the long run i may end up with something i could have never afforded anyway and my kids will know when they get them that dad redid them inside and out. Thanks for the help from all..more pics soon,,,i got film camera so have to get film to digital then post on here,,,,Rick
  18. Thanks Greg and others,,,they are comming along,,,chips and scratches filled in,,,Greg that wood filler you told me about is great.Im painting the back sides with gloss enamel and i sealed the woofer compartment up with glue and silicone.I will have more pics soon, ok.Bass bins almost ready to veneer im afraid the top horn section will take alot more time though...well thanks for your support guys Rick..ps for being 32 years old these are very solid and good condition just need some loving care,,,lol
  19. I still think ,,along with Andy that garage door seal or rubber base board like for kitchens will work better than pipe foam,,,,just staple the door gasket to the flat part and leave the flappy edge stick out about three inches then when you push it against the corner it will seal.I have not tried this idea yet im still looking around,,,,thinking outside the box,,lol,,,and still working on my K-Horns they are comming along by the way,,,,Rick
  20. I work part time at Leawood Bikes in KC,MO and i would stick with the Trek but it is more up to taste. But make sure you go to a shop where they know how to size the bike to you,,,,my boss use to ride pro and was a trainer but alot of big shops have kids working there...the average age of workers at Leawood Bikes is about 45 if thats a clue and we all ride.Rick
  21. Hook those puppies up to a Harmon Kardon 430 twinn powered reciever and look out....good score on those you lucky duck,,,lol,,Rick..there is a good chance a member on this forum made your speakers,,,HDBR is his handle here he worked at Klipsch and built alot of Heresys....
  22. Since you have some newer Ks,,,can you post a pic of the seals....i bet it is just off the shelf stuff,,,,like vinyl base board stuff,,,,or auto rubber gasket stuff,,,i got some Ks I'm redoing them,,,,not sure what im going to use for seal...be awhile before im done though,,,,let us know what you find out...Rick
  23. Simple to block off the register,,,,take off the grill ,,,fill it with fiber glass or foam,,,cut a piece of plywood same size as hole place over hole,,,your done,,,nothing to it,,,,,or just take grill off glue plastic over the opening or grill replace it,,,,nothing to it really,,,Rick
  24. Captain those be 1979 Scalywags you got there...value depends on finish, condition and location,,,,but figure around 800.00 to 1500.00 ...Rick
  25. Borrow another reciever or amp,,,i think your amp is broke....when our power was out one winter i hooked a battery powered boom box to my Heresys and they were very loud,,,my sons friends could not believe that good sound was comming out of such a little boom box..lolRick
