  1. You know you have crossed a threshold from which there is no escape. You are DOOMED. Should I send you the prints for the S-MWM? Better yet if you are ever heading this way, 68 miles ssw of Nashville, let me know and stop in.
  2. A great place to show your latest Goodwill buys off at. The problem would be would he get the point or just feel sorry for you?
  3. What did you get? Great move by the way as Klipsch pro IS much better.
  4. Big thing is being out of any rain that may stop in. And a lock on the volume knob so people don't fiddle while you are away.
  5. I remember going to the Kewenaw Peninsula in June one year and there was still snow on the sides of the road. Lake Superior was so cold you could not stand in it above your ankles without it really hurting.
  6. Yeah and honestly I was kind of discouraged from doing so so I won't ask again.
  7. I am really liking these and figure it was well worth the effort. Still yet to get together with Claude on final dial in but have fiddled with them and have them sounding really good without using REW. Taking them to Hope is a remote chance at best. Figure on it not happening. I have had some people over during the process of dialing them in and the expressions on their faces is pretty amusing. Hope they come back to hear them when the full potential is realized.
  8. What is tinsel? I had a Forte once that gave me grief at certain volumes and tones. I took that thing apart and tested it and after about the third time around I found that there was a screw stuck to the magnet. That little sucker would buzz like crazy and when I removed it the problem was gone.
  9. I have an example of an OEM Zee bracket and the newer K-77-F on hand to derive this new tweeter from. There are compromises made based on the hole size in the motorboard. Apparently the Zee bracket type was first and required a bigger cutout than that which followed which is for example the K-77-F. Now why in this day and time the cad file and cut file were not changed to reflect the newest tweeter I don't know since it is so simple to do. In any case this benefits anyone who has the later tweeters since I can cut a bigger horn lens with this bigger hole. The only difference of note are the screw hole placements which are different between the two. I have opted to go with the Zee bracket holes and it may require buyers to drill and use different holes that the larger spacing K-77-F's use. I may change this to a larger footprint and the bigger hole pattern in the future depending on what I hear back from buyers. I may end up cutting both sets of holes in there which is what i am leaning towards. Anyway here are some pics. Here is a view of the zee bracket tweeter lens compared to the K-77 and K-79 types. The zee bracket lens is significantly larger than the K-77 lens.
  10. Good article and I use heavier wire simply because it is cheap enough to buy and stronger to resist damage in my shop environment. Plus one size fits all in this case and sometimes I have bigger demand speakers than most.
  11. Then we have https://www.thecableco.com/quantum-burning-technology-burn-in-machine.html because your https://www.thecableco.com/triple-crown-speaker-cable-pair.html needs to be broken in properly especially when you are producing pure, pristine penultimate tonal quality audio output from this https://www.thecableco.com/invictus.html Your one stop audio procuring venture should begin here. https://www.thecableco.com/shopby?price=20000-999999
  12. https://www.thecableco.com/natural-power-cord.html Audio Magic, my favorite audiophile supplier.
  13. Nah it's a bragging society. Bet when you go over to one of these guys places you get an unsolicited run down of what things cost.
  14. And don't forget to treat your cable ends with this.
  15. Hardware stores and places like RadioShack if you even have one nearby anymore are bad places to buy. EBay and Monoprice speaker wire is cheaper by far and often free shipping. Last time I bought 100' of 12g for $99 delivered. Yes it is solid copper. Parts Express has various gages and lengths too but they are more expensive than searching EBay for the best deal. They are not desperate they just know they can make more money selling junk to those who have no clue. I like the suppleness of more $$ in my wallet. Monoprice + EBay = heavier wallet and more than adequate product.
  16. Got any 510 horn lenses?

I would try these again in a month or so. Sales seem to have dropped off on a lot of things right now and who knows why. Same for my wife's trinket sales on EBay. Those are great speakers and you should get at least $800 if you don't fire sale them because you get impatient.
  18. Thanks for the offer Carl but I have a UMike and everything else needed to measure. I just need to get together with Claude and learn. I am getting a 150' cat5 cable in today for temp DSL to my shop so this week should see me get going on setting up and testing various things. My thoughts also.
  19. I prefer the K-43's. The bass level difference is just a couple of HZ but the 43's are more musical and better in the mid range and I have had both here to compare. At any volume the 43 sounds fine. Better to have too much wattage rather than barely enough so your amp is fine for these.
  20. Well let me know ASAP as I pulled my ads and would like to get them back up if you don't want it.
  21. Panelhead has one of those motorboards for the factory Zee bracket tweeters. The cutout is roughly 5.34 x 2.06 as he measures. This is the last configuration I believe left to be designed and it involved a rework of the cavity since it is larger than the regular small tweeter lens for the K-77 was. He is stopping by tomorrow so my intent is to have a set cut for him in Walnut. I would have liked to get the wood grain in the right orientation for the rendering but this program is a bit crippled since I am to cheap to spring for the full version but you get the idea. Top and side view gives you the dims and this should complete all variations. According to the number Claude has run for the small and large MAHL tweeter lenses without testing I expect this one to fall in between those two based on it's size. Once again these have not been measured but the horizontal axis is wider as a proportion on these so I think it may well have better horizontal coverage than the other two. Again this is conjecture on my part and not measured data.
  22. https://asheville.craigslist.org/ele/d/brevard-klipsch-3-way-forte-ii-spkrs/6897063406.html He is asking $900 for them on CL
  23. I use xli800's which have RCA inputs so you can feed directly from a PC if you wish or get an 1/8" to two XLRs as input and while you wont have as much volume as you would with a preamp which would boost input voltage. But at 200watts per channel it will run you out of the room. I used one on a set of three way MCM 1900's with a passive crossover and never turned it all the way up except one time and that was with ear protection on. These MWM's are super efficient horns and need little to put out prodigious sound. These xli800's were $225 last time I bought one earlier this year. It is a basic unit and does not have bells and whistles like DSP but it sounds great and watt for watt you cant beat the price and get good output. You can spend a lot more on amps6 and plenty of suggestions will help you do so but these xli800's have been good for me. I would not consider anything other than pro line amps for these by the way. Best bang for the buck. I am not surprised and the second I can dump ATT I will.
  24. Carl if you are serious I will pull the CL ad and mark it tentatively sold here. PM me please. I don't mind waiting if I know it is sold since I know it will be one more item off the list.
