  1. Couldn't agree more James. Seems people have forgot how to pass a vehicle safely on a two lane road. Mark
  2. While I'll agree that the situation described above is something I find incredibly irritating, I've wondered why the person leading the snake of cars doesn't pull over and let the rest of us get on with our lives. If you're leading a parade of cars with no one ahead of you, pull over for a cup of coffee or something. The folks behind you will appreciate your generosity. Mark
  3. Matt, you do good work. Great attention to style and detail. Glad you sold the Chorus speakers. Glad you kept a pair of La Scalas. Mark
  4. Congrats to Shaun and Matthews. The Chorus speakers look fabulous. I saw them when I picked up my La Scalas from Matthews a few weeks back. Absolute works of art, my La Scalas and Shaun's new Chorus speakers! Make Matthews take you for a ride in Little Miss Sunshine. That should clear a few cobwebs after a long drive from mpls.. Mark
  5. Matthews, I just can't spend anymore $$$ on stereo stuff. Want to. But not right now. Saving my pennies for a new house. Mark
  6. Matthews, It's not love unless, it hurts so good. LMS will do your soul right. On to this threads topic, please someone buy these wonderful tube creations! I've heard them. If I had the $$ right now, well I know where they are and I'd be driving to pick them up. Mark PS. Man she looks great all buffed out..
  7. It makes me feel part of something larger. This shared experience is special. Magical. Thanks to everyone, Mark
  8. Yep, he caught the ball and the DB with one hand. Got both feet in bounds too. Amazing. Mark
  9. I did, all three of them. I meant aggressively pursuing your wallet and all its contents! Mark
  10. Seems aggressively priced to me. But one can always ask. Might have posted photos of the model tags and serial numbers for the the posted asking price. Think he'd throw in the cactus? Mark
  11. I'm sitting here listening to Joni Mitchell's Court and Spark that Chris has "unMastered" and it really sounds so much more engaging than the original. Chris knows his stuff. Oh, and so does Dean since his cross overs are in my La Scalas. Haven't taken the digital cross over plunge just yet. Mark
  12. I can only compare the VRD and Emotiva amps through my La Scalas. Two different pairs. Just bought a used Peachtree Audio Decco65 on a whim for my garage LSI's. I'll post my impressions this weekend. Mark
  13. I will have to experiment and see if I can learn why these systems sound so different. The weird thing is the more sophistcated system sounds much worse than the straight forward system. I first noticed the difference when I demoed a set of VRD tube monoblocks. Only difference was the amp. The Emotiva sound was more dynamic. Weird. Mark
  14. Here are pictures of my new two channel listening room. I wanted everyone to see how it turned out. I really appreciate everyone's comments and ideas. Mustang Guy really sealed the deal with his 3D sketch. Here's the room facing the La Scalas: and one of the listening position: Iggy, our cat, really likes the new chairs. Mark
  15. I have two Emotiva based systems. One is bare bones basic, Emotiva XDA2 Dac/Pre combined with a XPA 200 amp. The other has the DC 1 Dac, XSP 1 pre amp, and twin XPA 1L G2 monoblocks. My La Scalas really sound better on the bare bones system. So much so that my wife wondered if I'd bought new equipment when I hooked it up to see how they would sound. Based on this I'd say the XPA 200 amp is the difference. Mark
  16. Can't you use a Remote Desktop app, such as Splashtop, to control the PC from your listening position with a smartphone or tablet? That's how I have mine set up. I can control the the laptop from my iPad. Then you can plug the laptop directly to your DAC/PRE device. Mark
  17. Congrats! Very nice 69 Vette. She's almost 50 years old so imperfections are expected. Mark
  18. Matthews does great work. They sound as good as they look! Mark
  19. My music room is taking shape. Furniture arrived today so I put everything in the room awaiting painting. Here's a photo. Sounds much better than it looks! Mark
  20. Any song from Josh Grobin's STAGES cd makes me want to burn my La Scalas.... Unfortunately, my my dear darling wife just loves that C-rap. Mark
  21. What a cutie! since we're sharing, here's our little one.. Mark
  22. Cute puppies can poach my threads anytime! Mark
