  1. If you can afford it, buy them, but don't sell anything yet. A lot of people don't agree with me on this, but older heritage don't do well with modern home theater receivers. In my experience and opinion, they will sound like a decent speaker, but don't sound great like they should, it's like they have no soul. Now hook up those khorns and belle to a stereo environment, they'll absolutely sing, full of soul. I've had belles hooked up to a home theater receiver and they sounded terrible. I replaced the crossovers, but didn't help. It wasn't until a buddy of mine brought over a vintage Sony stereo integrated amp and my mouth dropped. It was more than night and day! When I got my khorns a year or two later, we tried it on my home theater setup just to try it, and same thing, no life. I have my khorns in my living room sitting right behind my KLF30s. Khorns are dedicated 2 channel stereo music and the KLF30s are part of my home theater. Good luck and keep us updated.
  2. I can't offer up any real equalizer suggestions, but I've heard good things about some Technics and Marantz models, I'm sure there are plenty of others. I've never been any good at setting equalizers, but if you can get it right, it should be a good fix for your problem.
  3. $800 is a fair price in this area, I'm in Massachusetts too. You could go higher, but they'll take longer to sell. There's a couple of the same speakers for around $1000-1100, but they aren't selling at that price. At $800, that's a good price for seller and buyer
  4. I would recommend doing that to the other speaker too
  5. They were built in 1970. The value depends on condition of the cabinets and functionality mainly, but location plays a big part. Good luck, post some pictures of the fronts with and without cloth coverings (grills) tops, sides, backs, labels, etc. Welcome, you should try them, you might get hooked.

  7. Read the entire description, but this guy has been dropped.
  8. Look at this on eBay https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Klipsch-La-Scala-Speakers-Damaged-Condition-Auction-with-No-Reserve-/284464504279?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0

  10. It's tough to say for a matching center for the original kg line. The original kg line has such a distinct sound to them, that I don't feel like any center will really "match" them. KG2 or KG1 maybe? As far as what will work well enough, I think the kv3 was a under rated small center channel and usually can be picked up for fairly cheap money to test out. At least they used to be fairly cheap.
  11. If you check out bluesound's website, there is a new Node product, and the 2i is listed as a previous model.
  12. To address your concern with caps, if you have the time, energy, and interest, do an A+B comparison yourself. Compare one la Scala to the other, put the system in mono and shut off one speaker and turn the other at once, go back and forth. Instead of soldering in the caps, just use alligator clips to connect the caps if you want to compare different brands of caps. Or just recap one crossover and leave one stock and do the comparison.
  13. Is the node doing the DAC work in your system or is it staying digital out of the node and another device is doing the coverting? Just trying to understand how it sounds so much better. I have a node node 2 and a node 2i. Might be tough to convince the wife on a newer node unless there's a huge difference. In my main system with the node 2, my Parasound P6 is the DAC.
  14. With the LMAHL, the DE-10 fits, I don't think you could mount the driver directly to the original horn lens.

  16. This isn't an actual shipping service. This is a place where someone can ask if anyone is going from point a to point b to help deliver equipment
  17. They are a prototype that I'm making for Klipsch. Shhh, don't tell anyone. 🤐

  19. I will say, these tweeters look way bigger than the stock black ones. When I first looked at them, I was convinced they wouldn't fit in the recessed opening of the motorboard. Just an optical illusion, but these things look wicked, and are quite beefy.
  20. Just a quick update to the Chorus III project. Just got a pair of large MAHL tweeters. This is basically becoming a Super Chorus II speaker at this point. No thoughts on the drivers yet since I just got them installed and it is recommended to let them break in. I will be eventually doing an A+B comparison with the stock tweeters (with Crites titanium tweeter diaphragms). Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  21. Switch the midrange driver/horn from one speaker to the other to make sure the problem follows the driver.
