  1. Being a die hard Dallas fan, I do have to admit he is one hell of a qb, but our qb is no slouch either. Once Jerry Jones swallows his pride and gets a defense, we will be a great team again. I'd take Rogers over Manning and Brady.
  2. Me either, although I did like 50 1st Dates and wedding singer was also OK. Regarding "The Interview" this movie is not a movie that I had planned to see in the theatre; however, I will probably watch it when the DVD or streaming options are available. I suppose it could have been written with 'fictional characters and country;' however, that's Hollywood. I'm just wondering if Dennis Rodman went to the premier or plans to watch the movie..... While I liked the "40 Year-old Virgin" I believe that Super Bad (from a single-day movie structure) may be more of 'generational' type of movie with certain pop-cultural references of that time-period that may resonate with certain people more so than with others. For example, while I found aspects of Super Bad funny and enjoyed the movie with the kids (to me, Rogan's part seemed to be inspired by a Police Academy movie), I found "American Graffiti" (set in the 60s) and "Dazed and Confused" (set in the 70s) to have more deeply nuanced parodies and spoofs of a period that represented my teen years that I found funny. Other movies that are similar to Super Bad that I did not necessarily relate to were "House Party (1990)" and "Can't Hardly Wait (1998)." I believe "generational" humor in some respects because in looking at the generations immediately around me, the oldest daughter loves Dazed and Confused and the youngest is a Super Bad fan (and somewhat of a Dazed and Confused fan); however, neither found much interesting or funny in American Graffiti and both were quickly bored. While I realize slightly different, I was grouping the Kevin Smith movie into a category of "Apatow-esque" type of humor with the Zack and Miri movie in relation to the crass sex-talk in detail and having Rogan star in the movie probably gave the movie more of an "Apatow feel" as opposed to casting someone else. While Rogan doesn't break any new ground as an actor or comedian, his insecurity (a trait he plays from in many of his movies) in his portrayal of a 'wanna-be' porn star seemed to fit the film and the chemistry with Elizabeth Banks seemed to work. Having watched the Linda Lovelace movie 'Deep Throat' in the 70s, among others; burlesque dancers move to porn; and watching a few of the 1970s adult theatre live shows such as adult entertainer Honeysuckle Divine, some of the silliness of the porn during that time-period seemed to come through in this movie as a parody of the porn in the 1970s that I found funny. I found the picking the name of their film "Star Whores" along with the raunchy rejected variations of popular films to be funny. Overall, I thought it was a smart comedy with good insight into certain parodies I saw in the movie; however, I realize I'm in the minority here in this respect as the movie tanked at the box office. I agree 100%. I was going to put something like that in my comment originally, but didn't. Having been born in 1968,even though I was not around for the 60's can say I did relate to a lot of the comedy movies that focused on the time frame for teens, as well as the 70's on up into the 90's as I can remember doing similar things as in the movies. In guess that's where some of the humor hits home for us. Also, for teh above with Howard Stern, I've never been a big fan of his comedy either, met him a few times on work he did for charities. He is a good guy when outside his "character" on the radio. I actually used to work with "Sal the Stockbroker" who is on his show and used to call in daily. One of the good things living in NJ and working in NYC was getting the chance to meet a bunch of different celebrities.

So I do believe that there is a lot of puffery when it comes to power conditioners etc..... I do own 3 of them due to the "what if" scenario. I do not however know if they truly work or not. I also couldn't at this point seeing myself drop $1,000.00 for one, unless I had the expendable money to do it only after being able to hear the difference myself. I have 3 Panamax power conditioners and I do have a question for everyone on here replying.Do they actually work, and is there really a difference in sound quality and video quality? I do think in my family room that something good is happening as I had a hum in my system without it, and the hum went away after installing it. I don't know if the sound quality was enhanced with picture quality, or even that the hum went away due to my moving the components and cables.
  5. I saw The Neighbors and Zack and Miri movie. They had a few good laughs in them, but not nearly as many as Super Bad. I also at one time knew Kevin Smith as he grew up in the same neighborhood I did in Jersey City. I do like Elizabeth Banks and Traci Lords and of the 2 films Zack and Miri was definitely the funnier one. But Zack and Miri is a Kevin Smith movie if I'm not mistaken, so the humor is slightly different. I think the others were written by Seth Rogan. I may be wrong, but I thought The Neighbors was written by Rogan.Movies like Pineapple Express did nothing for me. Don't get me wrong, he does have his moments, but few and far in between in my opinion. I just think he "tries" to hard to be funny and it comes across to me as he's saying I'm funny so you have to laugh at my jokes. It's almost like someone put a laugh track in the wrong spot on a show or movie to me.I just think that whole entourage he hangs out with is trying to hard to be the new "Frank Sinatra Crew".
  6. mdeneen, you hit the nail on the head. I can speak from my own personal experience and from what my kids are listening to today. I have 4 kids, 13 year old triplets and a 10 year old and my wife who is 39. I have 3 set ups in my home. 2-9.2 Channel set ups with 3d screens and a 7.2 set up in my bedroom. Do you know what they watch and listen to? Their cell phones and pads. I ask them constantly to watch movies with me or listen to music and they constantly say no.It's to much of a hassle for them to get up and move around. Now at the same time, they love music and play instruments and I take them to 1-2 concerts a year. I saw a caption on Facebook that read:Looking to get together with some friends to go out to a fancy restaurant so we can all watch our phones together. It's hard for any company to get their product out there to people who aren't looking for it,whether Klispch,BOSE, Yamaha, Pioneer, or any other company for that matter. The reason Apple and other cell companies are doing so well is because the youth of today doesn't have any ambition to get out there and do things. They are all tied up to their phone and tablet screens to be able to want to do anything else. Pinterest, Facebook, and other systems now make up the lives of today's youth where as 20 years ago it was getting out there and playing sports, knocking on doors to go hang out,and having get togethers and parties that opened the door to audio. I know when I saw a friends system I was instantly drawn to it.I wanted to know where he got it,how much he paid, and how I could go about getting it. Not today. Until we can get today's youth out of the phone interaction,it's going to be hard to do anything. My opinion, being ticked off at a company like Klipsch for not focusing on products you own is selfish to an extent. The company has to survive and make their money where they can, and then expand into the upper end niche products. It wasn't like that 20-30 years ago, but it is now. In my own business I have had to adapt to market conditions and "products" I offer to my clients in the last 12 years. If I didn't I would not survive. I do not own any of the Heritage Line or lines above them and I am looking to get into them, but one of the reasons is because I purchased a lower level line back in the 90's and they are still used today. How many other companies can say their speakers last that long?I can't afford the higher end product at this point, but it gives me something to look forward to as a future purchase. That needs to be taken into consideration. That's why we don't have cars available to us that get 100 miles to the gallon. It would put those car engine manufacturers and companies out of business. I do agree that some of the online and walk in stores should have those lines available, and that places like a Best Buy should have them in their upper ended side as they have other lines in their. History repeats itself and all things are cyclical. Cars were made smaller in the 70's then larger again. Same is happening with the speaker industry slowly but surely. People will want the large HT set ups as sound quality and picture quality gets better. But I don't think it will be today's youth.I'm 46 and just got into really wanting to learn about hi-fi audio.Prior to that I was a sheep just like everyone else. Purchase what we are told is good and pushed on us without having a real education in things, and it doesn't help when the sales people doing the pushing don't have an education on the things they are selling. If the big box stores are educated more on audio, they can educate their employees who can then educate us.Put the sales people into a position of being a fiduciary instead of a functionary. If they have the product to educate themselves better, they can educate us better.
  7. Outside of Super Bad and maybe the 40 Year Old Virgin, I don't think Seth Rogan is funny. I've seen a few other movies he was in and didn't care for them.He gets a few laughs here and there, but not throughout a full movie. His little click of friends and actors are in the same boat to me. I guess I'm not into that "nerdy" humor as much. Movies like American Pie were funny as heck to me, but even they reached out to far once #2 was made. I won't be going to see this movie, even it is to "support" our free speech. I don't think Sony should have done what they did either and should have released it when they said they would. Franco in a movie or two was good outside of comedies in my opinion.
  8. Ibiza, I feel the same way about my little KSB Setup as it was my 1st real purchase on "real" speakers and a receiver. 1998 and I spent $3400.00 for my receiver Yamaha RX-V2095,2 KSB 3.1's,4 KSB 1.1's,1 KSC- C1, and the 10"sub that went with them. I also purchased a 61" Sony rear projection TV for $2100.00 and had it in use up until last November when I sold it and purchased my 55". That was the 1st year I was able to afford anything outside of a typical "rack all in one system" which were running around $800.00 to about $1200.00 and were the typical Sony, Fisher styles with the big 15" woofer 3 way towers that came with a cassette deck and cd player and some had the turntable. (Mine did and was Fisher).I also quit school at 16 due to a very bad home life and then got my GED later on and became a stock broker, then became a real estate broker. I still use the little KSB's in my bedroom and can't get myself to part with them because of what they remind me I came from. Plus they still sound nice. Good for you for going back to school and continuing things. Little things like this stay with us for our whole life and actually make us realize how good things are, even when we think we are in ruts. I just look back on that 16 year old kid and then realize how good I have it.
  9. Division Bell is probably my favorite Floyd Album of all their music. I do like most of their music overall and they have been one of my all time favorite bands, but I don't think you can compare each album to each other.Unlike a lot of other bands out there, each album sounds different for the most part. The Wall sounds nothing like any of their other stuff, nor does Animals,Piper At The Gates of Dawn, Ummagumma, DSOTM, Meddle and their others. Unlike a group like U2 which is another of my favorites, their 1st 3 albums, and last 4 or so, were very much alike. - I've always enlikened jazz to a bunch of people playing together, but playing their own music without realizing they were playing with other musicians.
  10. So agree with me or I pee on thee? Hey that's a concept to build a nation upon, a proud and free society just so long as no one disagrees with you? You are so lucky to live where you do and you seem to have no idea. Never mind you are entitled even if you do not get it. Best regards Moray James. I have no idea? I think you have no idea how your beloved Jane chummed it up with the enemy while our POW's were being tortured just down the road from her. She said it was all BS and all the POW's were liars and such. Our servicemen didn't ask for that war, but they were there and continue to be when we need them. For future sake Moray, wear something sexy if you're going to talk. I think we need to make a "todays" version of this with Obama, Holder,Hillary, Sharpton, Jackson, and the rest of the Obama administration for what they have done to this country. I have never served in the military, and would never ever dis-reguard anything they have done. I have my kids walk up and thank them for what they do as well as the police and we show them respect for doing what they have done. It's very easy for anyone here that has not served to give our opinion on what is going on with servicemen/women unless we are in their shoes. Obama is a disgrace to the office and for him not to go to,or have any of his administration go to funeral services for fallen military like prior presidents, but to send 3 delegates to a thugs memorial is a total disgrace. I do not ride either side of the political fence and don't declare myself either party, but I do believe this idiot in office could have been the president that brought this country back together, but has done nothing but put his other Liberal Left Winged Agree with our thought process or you're a racist into power to drag this country down. And I must now also add the mayor of NYC. What a friggen joke. I support the police turning their backs on him as well. Obamaism should be a new religion as with any religion,if you don't believe in their belief you are wrong and condemned to hell. Rant done.
  11. Makes me miss my 220 reef set up. I used a sump tank in the bottom with live rock as well as live rock in my tank and a little substrate and was pushing 1250 gallons an hour through the system. That was it.My friends at the pet store used to joke I was pulling the slime off the fish I had. And I had my tank running for 4 years before I broke it down. In that time frame believe it or not, I did 3 water changes of roughly 20% each time. And I only added regular tap water into my system. I used to also cut my leathers and polyps when they got bigger and would sell them back to the pet stores. I definitely iss having that tank up and running. I had the actinics running with the blue light and the 10,000k ballasts, they would heat up the room, and also had a red light for night time viewing. I also did the drip and had the protein skimmer running. My lower sump had small shrimp and sponges growing in it and that also helped with everything. That is a gorgeous tank. How high are you running the lights from the water?
  12. The thing I liked about them was that they offered all these "extras", but then you realize when you get caught up in the push for these extras, is that the main reason is for sound quality and reliability. At least that happened on my end. And these big box stores don't do anything to educate their employees to then educate us the buyer. That is one of the biggest reasons I stuck with Yamaha so long, they are very reliable. Had I known all the issues the newer receivers would have, I would have stuck with my Yammie RX-V2095. Only reason I sold it was because I got caught up in the whole HDMI push.I've been tempted several times to repurchase one online. Even the one I have now doesn't compare on sound quality to that one.
  13. I wasn't sure if the sound quality can be increased or not. And I'm definitely not looking to spend hundreds of $$$$$ on an amp I paid less than $200.00 on. I would have definitely gone with a more expensive amp in the beginning. I'm just curious if different tubes will give a more fuller or richer sound than the Chinese versions of what I have. I can already see the bigger tower speakers are going to be needed. I still have to hook them up to the RF's in the living room. I've already tried on the book shelfs and they don't sound that good from more than 6 feet out. I had them hooked up to the KSB 1.1's, KEF iQ3, KLH Bookshelf, the ICON KB-15's and the KF-28's. The 28's sound the best so far, but I still need to try the RF-25's. The sound stage is wider and does seem to change the more I listen to music, but it definitely doesn't have the depth the Carver amp I listened to does. I didn't expect it to either. Worst case if I do keep the amp, I will use it on my computer with a set of book shelfs. It definitely sounds better than what I have on there now.
  14. I saw that already on some pricing for them,it seems the "older" tubes are the ones that cost more from what I see.
  15. I am curious as to what brands are better than others when it comes to tubes. I just purchased a tube amp which is a Chinese name brand and it sounds nice, but I'd like to know what brands of tubes would be an upgrade to these "Chinese" brands. I do see that there are different tubes for the 6N9P (6N9S,6SL7GT) and the EL34, but which brand tubes would everyone recommend, and will I get better sound quality or a wider sound field from them? I'm sure their is some type of difference, but what IS THAT difference? Is it a warmer sound? Brighter? The amp is entry level and was too cheap to pass up, and is my 1st, so I'd like to know what if any upgrades can be done just on the basis of tubes. Any info is greatly appreciated.
  16. They definetley answered a lot of questions but brought up new ones. I would love to see them make a sequel but I think that was Ridley Scotts idea was to leave questions unanswered. I think they are doing one more movie from this as another prequel.
  17. Lol, Now all you have to do is move the screen over to the left to center it out.
  18. I am in the process of cleaning the computer it is on now, and it shows that copying/pasting the address for email is what is the virus. It's a Trojan. That really stinks because they are only about 15-20 minutes from me and I was ready to pounce on them. THESE WOULD HAVE BEEN MY DEDICATED 2 CHANNEL SET UP FOR MY TUBE SET UP.
  19. I tried clicking the email tab, and it's a virus.
  20. How big is the room? What are the dimensions? I have the KSB 1.1's and they are hooked up to a 10" powered sub. If the room is large, you can try hooking the sub up with the high input from the receiver to the sub, then the KSB's to the high output of the sub if you aren't getting any real sound from it when hooked up with the cable only. Did you adjust the receiver to pick up the sub when hooked up? The sub may not be big enough for the room also.
  21. I have not tried that yet. I have the entry level KF-28's on it right now, and am going to hook up the RF-25's to see how they sound on it also. I didn't know if using the 4 Ohm setting would hurt or not. I'm a newbie when it comes to any type of amps of any sorts as everything I've done has been an AVR, no separates so it'as all new to me.
  22. And this is the reason I stopped using Onkyo. HDMI Board issues, updating issues just to name a few. I must have been one of the minority when it comes to this brand because everyone touts them so much.

    What I Got Today!

It doesn't seem like you can move them around to easy, and the heads pop up inconsistently. Mine did anyways. And the ring seemed harder to use when you did get them to move.

    What I Got Today!

I had them as a kid also, and the newer versions aren't up to what the older ones were. I bought them for my kids and they played with them for about 3 days, then never again.
  25. All it was was they didn't change the plug setting on the back, it was sent as 110V and they sent the wrong plug. I just used a computer plug until the other one arrives. Thank You Maynard, My thought process is to use this one to learn more about things, and then most likely use it on my computer until I can afford to go all out for a more well rounded unit in a larger area. As I said earlier it's very crisp so far compared to SS, but I know I skimped a little in getting it when it comes to overall abilities. But again for what I paid,it was hard not to get it.Especially for what it is going for everywhere else. It will definitely get the job done for now in a smaller listening space, or lower listening levels and I guess I can use it to experiment with other tube sounds, or even turn it onto a practice DIY unit down the line if I decide to try my hand at modding. One of the reviews I did read were that the tube holders were plastic instead of ceramic, and the capacitors weren't that great either. So that may be a few things I can upgrade on it,and maybe even a transformer for added bass response down the line once I get some education under my belt. Or maybe I will just leave it and leave the mods to the pros. I do have to say The Division Bell by Pink Floyd sounds so much different listening to it now than when on SS.
