  1. If you want to run the RC-7 in a vertical orientation, you could probably take the horns out and rotate them 90 degrees, so that they still offer good side-to-side dispersion.
  2. Sure, that is fine, it will take a few days for the money to transfer into my PayPal account anyway. Please PM me your user name.
  3. Good point, please insure the speaker for the full purchase price. Do you take PayPal, or other forms of online payment?
  4. How much for shipping on the RC-7 to 539 East, 5th St. Neche, ND, USA 58265 Thanks!
  5. No pictures of it, but a great price if it's in good shape http://www.kijiji.ca/v-electronics/city-of-toronto/vandersteen-klipsch-omage-speakers-for-sale/1089934689?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true
  6. No border troubles. All 3 of us ended up going a little over the spending limit but the border agents didn't really care. Probably not worth the time to go through dozens of receipts to collect a couple dollars worth of taxes.
  7. I'm home safe and sound with the new speakers. Thanks Gorm!
  8. Aww. I take it you won't be home this weekend then Gorm?
  9. I'm taking a shopping trip to Minneapolis from the 28th to 30th. If I have time I may come down to help you get rid of your RF-7s. Looks like around 4 hours south of Minneapolis?

  11. I make mine out of Canare L-5CFB coax cable with their RCAP RCA connectors.
  12. I'm working on replacing a broken woofer in my RB-5 and the dumb shop sent me the wrong one. The RB-5 has a K-1084-S and they sent me a K-1084-SB which goes in the RS-7. Does anyone know how much of a difference there is between the two? They look identical to me and the SB fits perfectly but I want to be sure it will pair with the tweeter and other speaker nicely. I will be able to see how it sounds in a few hours when I get home from work but in the meantime, if anyone has any information, it would be great. Thanks.
  13. How does the Paradigm Servo-15 compare to these two? I don't know how you feel about used stuff Kyler, but there is a Servo 15 in the paper under Miscellaneous Articles (#400). Comes with a crossover for $1000 CAD which sounds like a great deal to me.
  14. I don't know if you've all seen this a thousand times before but I think it's pretty cool.
  15. Cool to see some other Promedia owners who moved up to better stuff. Thanks for pointing that out about impedance ccsakura, I don't know how I missed it. A watt into 4 ohms will definitely be different from one into 8 ohms. I'm thinking this will be my first step into a better system, and I will keep upgrading as time and money allows. Seems kind of like what you're doing. The RB-5's should make some nice surrounds in the future. Juba310, did you try it and see? I hooked up my dad's old Bose 301's to my 4.1's and the sound was fine for me. I think they are rated at around 100 watts and I know they are 8 ohms. I would not want to crank them but never felt the need to do so either. The RB-5's are most likely more efficient than the 301's so what you said seems kind of surprising. If all else fails, I guess I could put the RB-5's away for a bit until I get a receiver.
  16. I've been a multimedia speaker user for the last few years and I think it's time for an upgrade. Does anyone imagine any problems with running RB-5's as fronts off the Promedia Ultra 5.1 amp? I rarely get into the higer volumes and the RB-5's are pretty sensitive so I don't think it will be a problem, but I want to make sure. Two more questions. Since these are for my computer I will obviously be sitting closer to them than the average person's bookshelf setup, probably between 2 and 3 feet away. Will this affect the sound quality in any way? Finally, how do the RB-5's compare to the new 35's? I did a bit of searching and it seems to me that they will be about equal in performance. Personally, I like the look and veneer finish of the 5 more than the 35 and think that justifies a higher price, but a big difference in performance could sway that decision. Thanks for your help.
  17. I have some new Canare tools for sale, great for making DIY cables. I have a TCD-5CF die set and TS-100E 5-in-1 multi cable stripper. The cheapest I see them for is around $65 each. I am asking $50 with free shipping in North America for each one but I will go lower if interest proves to be low. The seal on the stripper's box has been broken but I have not touched the actual tool. More info can be found at http://store.haveinc.com/Ebus30/Parts/Part.asp?Part=CANTCD5CF&Material_Code=CURRENT> http://store.haveinc.com/Ebus30/Parts/Part.asp?Part=CANTS100E&Material_Code=CURRENT and http://store.haveinc.com/Ebus30/Parts/Part.asp?Part=CANTS100E&Material_Code=CURRENT> http://store.haveinc.com/Ebus30/Parts/Part.asp?Part=CANTS100E&Material_Code=CURRENT
  18. Try google or ebay with "8 pin DIN" and see what pops up. No guarantees that it will fit but the pin arrangement seems to be the same on most cables.
  19. I can't answer your first question, but your second one is do-able with middle school math. Area = (pi)(r^2), so the combined area of 2 3" drivers is 14.14 square inches. One 6" driver is equal to 24.27 square inches. Basically, it takes 4 small circles to cover the area of one circle that's twice the size. EDIT: Wow, my pi symbol didn't turn out exactly as it should have. I replaced it with the word.
  20. Where did you take your speakers in for servicing? I had an amp problem and was told to send my amp and control pod to Kromer Radio in some place like Mississauga, ON. I had a replacement amp and control pod in under a week.
  21. The last I heard, (this was a while ago), the only reason the A7N8X Deluxe isn't Soundstorm certified is because they didn't submit it for the certification process. It still does seem to have all the features that are required for the Soundstorm sticker. Mine is a Rev. 2.00 and it claims to be Soundstorm certified.
  22. I have an A7N8X Deluxe, a Barton 2500, and Klipsch 4.1's. I think the setup sounds great, but I have not listened to many other sound cards. I do not have any complaints with how the integrated sound performs. If I were you, I would stick with the Audigy 2 and your MSI unless you needed something that the A7N8X Deluxe offered that isn't on your current mobo. What's your reason for wanting to upgrade?
  23. Do you have your wires clumped up? I used to have mine bunched together in a big ball. My speakers always seemed to be a bit hissy. When I spread the wires out, most of the hissing went away.
  24. Who cares if the FSB is 800 MHz? The PCI bus will still be walking along at 33 MHz, and that is where your bottleneck will be. Dell also offers PC's with 800 MHz FSB's, but nobody aspires to own a Dell.
  25. Alright, what is so special about your shuttle PC? Is there something about it that makes it better than something like VoodooPC, Falcon Northwest, or a good DIY job? Edit: I just looked at a few of your other topics. Why do you come to the Promedia 4.1 forum to talk about $250000 speakers? There are obviously forums better suited for that than this one. Are you trying to impress us or something? I could pretend that I put a Krell Master Reference subwoofer in my truck's box or that I was considering some Dynaudio Evidence speakers for my new computer sound system, but what would be the point?
