I feel Belles have a unique following. Those that want them, will pay a little extra. I don't think discounting them increases the chance of a sale as much as other models. I have two pair and have considered selling off the extra pair, but never decide to part with them. I would start at $2500 US for mine and hold near there for a while. Possibly drop to $2250. Mine are in very good shape cosmetically except the usual plant stain on one that damaged the veneer. All the components are upgraded so that a plus. Just my two cents based on nothing at all. I see them come up for much higher than that number, just dont see them sell for much more.

Ok, I can easily visit Lake of the Ozarks to check out a venue if someone has done the vetting process. Not sure it hits all of the criteria as it is not close to any major airport. I could use and excuse to run down there. Preferably when the crappie or catfish are biting. Previous trip to the lake:

My vote is to recap the AA and call it a day. For crossovers that old it is badly needed. Then sit back and listen and enjoy for a while before doing anything else (for a while) Many LS out there led very hard lives, most Belles I have come across were treated much better. Your drivers may be in perfect shape. I have a list of "upgrades" for later. But this one is a must and the first step. (I have two pair of Belles)

I saw the problem has been identified elsewhere, but wanted to throw out a +1 on the Art Box. Made a huge differnce with my combination home and pro gear. If you are using Klipsch speakers and a pro amp and can't pin your ears back, check out this little box.

I can hear Mrs Oldtimer now: "Eat your vegetables or I am going to put Phil Collins on again!"

I respect them for that!

I have experience with the old ears portion, the rest is not in my scope of expertise. How's that for not contributing?

I had HER pegged as the normal one and you......well..... Congrats on the 20 something (so far) number. That might make a good thread! Wait, nevermind.

Interesting approach. Sounds like fun. I was 18 in 1976, so that was a very good year for me too. I have a pair of Belles from 1988 and from 1972, so can't help in that regard.

well, the ad's down, hope you got them and they were worth the drive.

You definitely need to stretch the material. The trick is to do it evenly so the grain of the fabric is consistent. I usually tack the four corners first then work my way around. That's why I suggested a trial piece on scrap. It is not difficult, just need a little practice.

3M makes a great spray adhesive sold in most any hardware store. That is what I use. I do tack with a few staples but as few as possible. You may get away with just tacking and then removing the tacks. Good luck If at all possible, use some scrap to test with.

Good luck! hope they live up to your expectations. Is there a reason for looking for 1976 version? Is it a personal number/year or a particular set of components. If the glass doesn't work out, but two large (plastic) plants and set them on top strategically. If something unexpected comes up while in StL, give me a shout out.

Try cooking them longer at a lower temperature. If you do it right, they can be tender as possum. yum
