  1. I sit about 9-10 feet away. Certainly results can vary depending on seating position, speaker placement, room treatments, and other factors. In this particular test, the 7s came out on top. Real-world testing rather than ideal conditions is really what most of us have to deal with. The Heresies aren't going anywhere, they are both great. The Heresies generally reside in my office/spare bedroom where the 7s would overwhelm the room and be a boomy mess. In this room, it turned out differently.
  2. Nope. Both were used as designed and delivered. No subwoofer, no mods, no changes. I didn't take deep bass response into account on the comparison since that was a given for the 7s.
  3. Stock H III. I had thought they would be fuller as well, but it wasn't the case. Truth be told, I gave them the warmer amp in the test. What may be thought of as warmth was the cabinet "singing" along with the music - especially voices and acoustic guitar. It certainly does not sound bad, and actually adds a pleasant quality. However, the cabinet is clearly heard when switching between the two speakers.
  4. So...it was bound to happen. (Sorry for the not so great pic...I'm too lazy to get my camera gear out.) The Heresies were brought down to the family room for a show down against the RF-7II. Fearing that I will put a lot of you to sleep with a long description, I'll get right to the point. The RF-7II won. I had seen that the 7s were voiced closer to the heritage series. After going back and forth, it seems this may be true. At first, it seemed the Heresies were warmer, but it turns out the 7s just have a significant amount more detail. Having said that, I do turn the treble down -2 on the 7s. Their location and interaction with my room require this for my tastes. (Stay tuned on whether this is true with the Outlaw separates that are on their way.) Both speakers are great, but the 7s are more modern. The sound is smoother, more open, detailed, and bigger. The Heresies do have an endearing quality though. They feel softer and are purely relaxing. Neither speaker is going anywhere, but an A/B was required.

  6. You can enter a help ticket on the klipsch support website. Frys should be able to help, as they are the dealer that sold them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Tape monitor out is a fixed line level out. This shouldn't be used for a sub. You can hook the speaker wires to either speaker A or B out. The impedance of the sub, since it is powered, is so high it won't have any affect on the amp. This is actually what many consider the best way to hook up a sub to have the exact same signal the speakers are getting. REL does this type of connection. I'd imagine that you may have to work on placement/crossover to blend the sub. The connection shouldn't be the issue. EDIT: Is this the RSW-12 you have connected? Those do not have speaker cable inputs...
  8. Rosewood Tiger Maple I think custom finishes are important at the level of the Heritage series. Many high-end companies have custom finishes available and something a lot of people look for. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Just placed an order for the 975/5000 combo. I'll post my impressions once it arrives!
  10. It's just the angle. The 2 series has different woofers, horn, and feet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  12. 4 rf 7s. No IIs in there.
  13. Forte II and Quartets have about the same footprint as Heresy, just taller. Should be able to find a pair of those around your price target. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I've tried an NAD D3020 on them and it is much better to my ears. This weekend I'm also going to try my Rogue Audio tube amp on them. Thus far, they respond to different amplification quite dramatically.Did you get to hear them in your own setup?
  15. ...could always play them at a lower volume and keep some great speakers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I'm looking to get some Outlaw Audio Separates for my setup. I currently have an Anthem MRX 520, but I just don't like how it plays with my RF-7II. It's extremely detailed, but a bit too bright for my tastes. I'm looking at the Outlaw 975 pre/pro and 5000 amp combo. The amp has plenty of power for my needs, but just wanted to see if anyone here has experience with this combo. I've seen in other places that both the 975 and 5000 are warm, which I enjoy. I don't need EQ or room correction, so this just may be the ticket.

  18. Did he change his listing? Thought these were just $1500 yesterday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Have you run your 280s at 100 true wpc? That will be somewhere around 118db in-room. That's VERY loud. When I had mine, I probably ran them at 5-10 watts, and I certainly wasn't missing any dynamics.
  20. @Speakerklipschman I had written a quick summary in this thread...not sure how to link to it. It's really up to you whether the difference is worth the cost. The 280 and RF-7II are close in nature. I'm betting they looked to match the 7 more closely with the new line. The 7, however, has more of everything. Bigger soundstage, presence, punch, detail. The 280 may be slightly smoother. Personally, I haven't liked any B&W speaker I've heard, so i can't comment on those vs the 7.
  21. If they haven't left your house, there's time to go back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. On the 450c and 280F I found no difference grills on or off. Quartet, Chorus, Heresy, RF7II all sound different with covers on vs off.
  23. The user interface is a bit dated looking, but works just fine. It allows for 4 speaker profiles all with their own bass management and level settings. You can set up plenty of inputs with your choice of video and audio inputs, speaker profiles, and whether or not to use ARC. Although potentially a neutral sound, I prefer the warmth. My NAD is warmer, and my main system has tubes. I don't really care for all the features all the AVRs have, so going with basic separates may work best. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. So I am not sure how I feel about my Anthem. It is incredibly detailed, but is a bit bright for The RF-7II. The processing is really good, and room correction does a great job if you like to use it. I just feel as though room correction sucks too much life out of the speakers, and turning down the treble gets rid of too much detail. I may try the Outlaw Audio 975 & 5000 combo. Supposedly the combo is warm and punches way above its weight class. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
