  1. This is interesting to me also. I tried Tidal the day it came out and was underwhelmed. The service was more expensive than google play, but I could not notice a difference in sound quality. However, I cannot say with certainty that I was listening to Tidal HiFi. Is that a relatively new addition? I can't remember hearing about it until this thread, and I certainly would have checked it out for the comparison.
  2. Maybe Chad can chime in and give us some insights?
  3. I am thinking about P-17B's or the P-37F's along with the P-27C center paired with my existing sub, a klipsch RT-10d. But I sit only 12ft away from them, and of course no way to try before I buy. My old KLF-20s/KLF-C7 work well in this room/setting, so I'm guessing the Palladiums would, also, but I'm not sure. I am sitting about 12 feet from my 37s and I think that is just about perfect for them. A couple things about the Palladiums that I would like to pass along: You aren't likely to get dollar for dollar improvement in sound quality over another Klipsch speaker, especially the Heritage. You are certainly paying for the craftsmanship. And also, for me anyways, their ability to recreate sound was something that, out of the box, wasn't immediately apparent. I A/B tested them against my Khorns for a good while before I moved them into their permanent location. I could tell right away - even in the bigger room with the Khorns that I liked the mids and highs better. Their reproduction was smoother with more clarity; not as harsh, certainly. But they also cannot perform on the scale of the Khorns - they just cannot recreate the soundstage, due to their size. But even after I put them to work in my home theater I could appreciate their abilities even more, as time went by. I have come to expect that if I want to 'crank it up' and let my hair down, I go to the Khorns. But if I want to experience the music and relax, I turn to the Palladiums every time.
  4. In my opinion, the Palladiums are speakers that require optimal settings to achieve maximum results. No different than Khorns needing corners. If you have a good room to put them in, by all means get them. Nobody should spend even that amount of money on speakers only to stuff them into a too small space, or in the case of the P37f's, too large a space. And don't buy the P37f's unless you can buy the matching sub. I can't speak for the 38s or 39s, but the 37s need help at the lower end.
  5. First I want to say thanks to everyone that replied, and may still reply. I do appreciate you taking time from your life to answer my post. I'm going to add a couple amps mentioned here to my short list and take an in-depth look at them all.

    it's working already

Hmm. A loaded start to a thread if I've ever seen one.
  7. Each to his on but Klipschorns/La Scalas/Cornwalls/Belles without tubes is like a day without sunshine. For my enlightenment, what is it about the tubes/K-horn combination which you found unsatisfactory? I ask because my experiences through the years have been the opposite. Do you recall what kind of tube circuit (such as single ended triode, push-pull pentodes, etc.) was used in the amps you listened to? Maynard I'm a very simple woman. All I want out of my equipment is excellent sound and reliability. I don't want to hear anything but the music (not even hiss if at all possible). And in the specific case of tubes, I don't want to worry about heat or replacement. I want to turn it on and have it do what I want it to do for years and years and years.

This, of course, hits the nail squarely on the head. I am still at a loss as to why this was ever pointed out. Something must have happened to give rise to this point. Exactly, I tend to believe in the Red Bull school of thought as they are one of the companies that really understands how to capitalize on "content" of their fans across many media platforms. I see Red Bull embracing content, not running them off. I'll always remember Red Bull more from our flugtag homemade flying machine over anything else. I tend to believe that maybe in understanding the marketing value of content is where Amy's marketing expertise really benefited the forum the most. All I can say is I'm glad I'm not the one who has to manage this nursery school.
  9. I'm considering purchasing a new amp for my Klipschorns. My method for selections takes considerable amounts of time. I'm fairly methodical and slow to choose and I'm happy with my processes. I'm not interested in changing it. But it occurs to me that it might be enlightening to hear what others find complimentary to the Klipschorns, and why. I'm currently thinking about trying out the Mark Levinson, McIntosh, and Emotiva brands and would like to see how you feel about them. Also, if anyone has any suggestions for other brands that they feel go well with the speakers I would be interested in hearing your recommendations. I do not like tubes.
  10. I think that could have been phrased a little better. Yes, I could be a lot more tactful and I am smooth as a corn cobb hear, but that does not stop the fact that it is absolutely the truth and you, I as well as others here know it. I have been biting my tongue here for a while he and that new female member posted about the unfairness of it all without having one single idea of what it was all about. It is time for him to stop the conspiracy theories and the poor picked on Mark when he does not know what it was about? A better way to go Jim would be to PM somebody and ask what it is all about, you might actually learn something!! at 8 years on the forum, I was the youngest member in that mess, and the member who got banned was the oldest member on that thread. Roger New members or prospective new members aren't interested in the soap opera history of this forum. And Klispch the corporation probably really isn't either. If I am a investigating the brand and I find this forum to see who the people are that buy the product and run into THAT thread, what do you suppose my impressions should be? Would this be a place I would want to visit often; sign up to be a member of? About anytime I log on, I can find no more than about 30-35 members signed in and about 80 guests. Most of those members are the same people day after day. Some of them, but not all of them, are members of the 'clique.' Should I wonder about a brand with worldwide appeal with literally millions of customers that hosts an online forum with an active member roster that isn't at least in the hundreds. I can only guess about the why it isn't more and I would definitely include threads such as that as a possible contributing reason. TLDR; this isn't your personal forum to gather and berate a subscribed member. If you have a history that absolutely must be talked about, take it private. You raise a lot of points which involve various issues. One of which is the slow death of forum participation in general. Science says correlation does not imply causation. Everyone is welcome here until they grossly violate the TOS. One such former member did as much plus raised a huge stink, then shows back up pretending to be someone else. That's all it boils down to. It is folly to think that people anywhere any time can congregate whether physically or virtually and not form social bonds. How could anyone with even the most basic human social knowledge expect otherwise? I have seen the stick to the subject/purpose type regulated forums disappear way faster than those that bend for social interaction, with its inevitable pitfalls. I do not forsake personal or even social (especially online) bonds. They are important in the formation of any community. And after all, this is the Klipsch community. But as a new member, I'm keenly aware that the members should first and foremost remember the purpose of the community. Here it is to promote, talk, share, etc., all things Klipsch. I would hope that the most senior members of this community would cherish those ideals more than I. But I'm not sure that as the case. That thread from inception to conclusion was inappropriate. It served no purpose other than to highlight a member who only those who knew the history of could possibly be concerned about. And it was then used as a grade school bathroom for everyone who had a gripe to poke him with a stick. Can you tell me, was that the best face this community can offer to the outside world looking on? 80 or more guests had a front row seat if they wanted it. Worse, the administrator had a stick, too. I assume Chad is a Klipsch employee and as such he should remember why this site exists and what its purpose is for. The thread should have been deleted by a mod the second it was created. Just my opinion. And even when it was appropriately locked, it was unlocked after some 'level-headed' off the books discussion! And lastly I'm curious. If this person is such a pariah why do you 'adults' insist on replying to his posts? Just ignore him, say nothing in response to anything he submits. Certainly there is plenty here for you to focus on instead of him. I'd love to see you contribute more Music/Audio/Klipsch content before taking on the role of Official Forum Moral Compass. Yes Bella, Tell us about your gear and what got you started into Klipsch? How about your musical tastes? Roger All in due time. And where it is appropriate I will comment and contribute in the ways you request.

Certainly there is plenty here for you to focus on instead of him. Bella, I suggest you take a reality check of online forums. Go sign up on ANY motorcycle forum and start accusing members and moderators of being unfair and in a clique, and I guarantee you that you will be directly attacked and banned in short order. The fact that you have not been banned, nor ganged up on suggests other than what you suggest. May I suggest that you get over it, and as previously stated, get your butt to Hope in May and meet some of these "conspirators" in person. You just might find yourself doing a reevaluation of your initial thoughts on this whole thing. Roger This is the only forum I belong to, that I have ever belonged to, and that I ever will belong to. I lurked for more than a year. Then I joined. I've played a little bit of the role of a newcomer, but I know who Mark is - that's how long I've been looking around. I know more about these forums and it's members than you assume I do. This is a bit a quirk I carry in my personality where I am as thorough as I possibly can be before I commit. It's served me well in my personal and professional life. So I stick with what works. The reason I joined in spite of knowing the 'short comings' of this community is because a) I love Klipsch, b ) there are some very good members and some very good moderators, and c) the shortcoming of this community are the strengths of others - it is miles beyond others. It shows. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't check ourselves. Slip and fall, get back up admit the shortcomings and continue on. No harm done. I see that in this community; in the members that are the 'clique.' Which, btw, I do not mean in a derogatory manner. It's my description of those members who have been here for a long time and who know each other beyond the keyboard. Think 'Cheers' (one of my all time favorite television comedies). Where the regulars can talk and cut up with the bartenders (the moderators) and get away with a little bit more than the average customer off the street. I know you get together every year in Hope. I know you have a great time and you build friendships. I know you laugh with them. And I know you cry with them. I know who Boxx was. And I saw how this community reacted to his passing. When you see me commenting on the conduct of the members keep this in mind: I know what it is capable of, because I've seen it, and I decided to be a part of it. We are all better than that thread. Like every close community there are disagreements and there will be more. But we should be mindful that what we put here on this forum is there for everyone to see: prospective members, guests included. Forever. For heavens sake, it takes effort to log on, read a post, click the reply button, write what we want to share and then click post. You'd think in that amount of time an adult would be able to parse their words and come up with a result that takes into account the person on the other end of those comments and the reflection it has on us as individuals. If you can't, don't post. Log off and come back when you've gathered yourself. Thank you very much for the invite to Hope. But for very personal reasons, I could never attend.

  14. I chose an Anthem product to power my Palladiums. I do not regret my decision.
  15. You are selling a $275 speaker that is 15 years old at a $75 depreciated price. From what I can tell the speakers are not remarkable in any way. No collector status at least. JBL made/makes a good product. But I do not think you can get what you are asking for them.
  16. Space exploration. Sending robots to places we cannot go without supplies will prove to be groundbreaking, I think. Mars is just the first step and we've already got robot explorers there. I think it is possible in the next 50 years to send an advanced robot to another solar system to walk on a distant planet surface; take samples and analyze them in an advanced laboratory sent with it. Perhaps even be the first Ambassador to another species? EDIT: After posting this I realized that I didn't say anything different than what we are already doing. I guess what I mean is that I hope we focus on the scientific endeavors of this technology and not so much on the military applications.
  17. A very enlightening observation! Rights for Robots?
  18. That was the early prototype. The second video is where they are now (all electric). Not sure about the running since they didn't show that. But a robot that can anticipate loss of balance (from a push) and recover if knocked over is amazing to me.
  19. The biggest reason wars are avoided is because of the cost in human lives. What happens when that cost is minimized?
  20. Agree. Change is inevitable. I hope we can see the pitfalls and benefits of this type of technology and guide ourselves appropriately.

  22. My apologies. I'm clearly sticking my nose where it doesn't belong. I thought 'the group' ganging up on a member like high school thugs was something to be concerned about; reflecting poorly on the Klipsch company as I mistakenly thought, since it appears to have the blessing of the administrator and the mods. Some history here that is none of my business and I don't want it to be, either. I must say I am amused at the 'fat kid' of the clique, which appears to be Thaddeus, who preferred to lurk in the shadows until a woman happened into the thread questioning the merits, whereas he saw his chance to improve his standing and voice his disapproval with all the nuance of a wet fart in a theater. Carry on with whatever inappropriate cleverness you can muster. I'm silent on this laughable display of maturity.
  23. In all fairness since you pride yourself on complete secrecy and anonymity, who the hell are you? I'm beginning to identify the members of this 'group' I've been PM'd about. Didn't think much of it till now.
  24. well which is it? I'm Thaddeus Smith, Snark Patrol. duh. Well welcome to being the second person on these forums I don't like. And both of you are an ***. And if you want to parse my every word, have a great time. But I can do the same: "...before jumping in to stir the pot." Newsflash! I posted here before you, so I think YOU jumped in to stir the pot. Secondly...this whole thread is nothing but a pot being stirred.
  25. Since I have read the thread. Perhaps you'd like to enlighten me as to what it is I missed that would warrant your less than polite response? And now I'm stirring the pot? Who the hell are you?
