  1. There are tons of semi glossy looking woofers when you google Heresy II images Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Couldn’t go this morning. He works evening/ nights so looks like I’ll be waiting until the weekend to find out. Another close up Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Yeah, seems most sellers don't like to pull out drivers. I have to remind myself next time i get into any of my speakers to take photos of everything in case these questions pop up and i have photos to prove. I think i'll still take the chance and purchase these as the price is nice and Crites replacement woofers are $200 +$20 shipping if i remember correctly, so not bad at all. Maybe i'l luck out and these will be original drivers after all. Going to look at them tomorrow morning. Thanks for your help.
  4. He just sent me a better photo. They do look more grey in this light. Still don’t think it’s original? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I've asked a couple of members and no one seems to know. The drivers look yellowish in color. I've only seen black and grey looking cones. Could these just be grey cones that were discolored over time? Perhaps they were reconed at some point with non factory recone kit?
  6. Can't go wrong with Black Klipsch! I've spent A LOT of time checking out veneers and i'm trying my best to fight off the urge to go walnut(a premium figured walnut is pretty pricey), but i think i just need to reconstruct/repair the veneer damage my black Oak Chorus II have, and use a black dye to cover and a ebony stain to get deep into the grains and then a satin finish. When you see the grain of ebonized oak or ash in the light, it looks really slick. I'm also tempted to go with the 70th anniversary silver grills too, but i'm scared of shipping my grills and they get damaged in the process as Duracrest won't sell me the grill cloth alone and want me to ship my grills to them to put the grill cloth on. $125+ shipping is a good deal imo. I believe $150 plus shipping to do the lambswool grill cloth if i went Walnut veneer with a deep rich brown stain. Crites sells the heritage grill cloth, but for Forte's and Chorus, Quartets, KLF and CF series, i think the thinner more transparent new black cloth the Forte III's use would be a better option and you'd have to go through Duracrest for those. Klipsch parts sells the Jubilee pie badges too. All of that and fresh paint on the front and back motorboards will really modernize and bring your 80s-90s-early2k speakers to like new factory speakers.
  7. Maybe it's just an outrageous starting point and they let people make realistic offers because i see their speakers come and go on craiglist so they must be selling.
  8. Yeah i see them on Craigslist all the time. I agree exotic veneer isn't cheap + labor, but as far as that pair of forte's and the other pairs of Klipsch they've applied exotic veneer to, i'm just not a fan. Not just theirs, but mostly every pair of Klipsch I've seen that was re-veneered. Rosewood(i love natural rosewood, just not stained) or whatever exotic or different looking wood. Whatever kind that isn't the norm. I've seen a lot of new veneer put on old Klipsch and they never look quite right, probably because they don't look factory. If it was me, i'd stick to as close as possible to any of the veneers Klipsch offers from factory. Figured Walnut. I've seen planked and knotted walnut which looked wrong. Oak-ebonized-oiled-distressed or Ash-ebonized. Cherry-natural or the previous stain. Australian Walnut. Mahogany-flat cut-ribbon striped. Flat black, and a very deep rich brown "ebony" seems to be sticking around. I don't know. Maybe it's just me and i don't like wood veneer that distracts too much. I suppose it would look nice if it matched all the other furniture in the house. One thing i notice with a lot of these veneer jobs also is that they stop there and leave the front and back motorboards as is instead of freshening those up with new black paint or going further than that and veneering those front and backs as well. Also, the grills being sort of faded and nearly grey makes it look outdated as that covers the entire front and captures the eye first. Just my opinion.
  9. Congrats to buyer and seller! Hell of a deal!

Offered my Chorus II for trade. Would totally make the 12 hour drive if he accepts. Doubtful though. Someone selling these probably just wants the cash.
  11. They have one that is labeled as walnut, it has a medium brown tone you usually see with walnut. The other is a very light oak. This one I posted is just named ebony. I think it’s common knowledge they put a walnut stain on oak or ash for the RF-7 II and III, but I guess that’s more costly veneering those towers compared to what little veneer you need for the Hp-3. If you look at the grain pattern of the ebony and the oak Hp-3, it’s very similar. Either way, I’ve looked at some stain options and will try and get that deep dark brown, or just go completely black with my oak Chorus II. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Beautiful. Wanted to do this in walnut for my entire Chorus II front sides and back but wasn’t so sure how it would look. Though a lot more costly due to size, maybe I can veneer the Normal sides and tops and edgeband and save up to do the front at a later date or I was thinking about keeping them oak and repair the chips and broken veneer and that way I’d only need enough oak to do the front and backs and then ebonize the entire thing. Great job! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I know there are walnut/ebony/oak to choose from but i've seen Klipsch offer "wanut" for RF-7 II and III's when they were really oak with a walnut finish. Is that the case with these headphones? They're all oak with different finishes on them? Reason i am asking is because i am about to get in the process of refinishing my black oak Chorus II's, and was interested in a non black, but very dark brown ebony look and i immediately thought about the HP3: So is that Oak with a dark finish?
  14. Another question: Is $20 each for the jubiliee PWK badges too much? Doesn't Klipsch parts sell them for like $25 for the pair?
  15. I suppose cardboard will suffice? I was thinking using foam that protects the corners of tv's in the packing as i recently bought a new tv, and still have those, but that will probably make it too thick. I guess i can package it like one would package a painting for shipping.
  16. I want to have my Chorus II grills shipped together to have the newer factory Klipsch 70th anniversary silver grill cloth applied, but i don't know how to go about packing it so it doesn't get damaged in the process since they don't have the original Chorus II grill frame mold. If mine get damaged in shipping, i'm screwed. Anyone have experience shipping large speaker grills before? How did you package them safely while limiting cost of shipping? Thanks
  17. Come on. 99% is an obvious exaggeration to just say that most people I’ve come across through the boards dislike the ti mids. Crites says the same and does not recommend them. Seems like you took it as a personal attack on your own speaker. Has nothing to do with the CWIII. That speaker was built with the ti mid in mind. What I refer to is people putting the Ti mid diaphragm from the HIII and CWIII into Fortes, Chorus, KLFs etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Odd looks like a cf-2 the way those drivers look so small compared to the horn Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Love those grills but the wood looks too dated for my taste. Still excellent looking quality Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. So if the A-55G or K55 fall just shy of the output needed for the tweeter, would this be easier to find a suitable tweeter replacement or a crossover change to lower the output of the tweeter if it can even reach that low? It's odd because it seems those few who have done this in the Chorus II are already raving about it as is. The Titanium diaphragm had the issue of overlap and there were some who also thought it was fine as is without the bandpass so i wonder if it's just not having proper A/B comparison to really hear where the issue lies.
  21. @Born2RockU When you upgrade your KHorns to A-55G's sell me your K-55's so i can try this on my Chorus II's because i don't think i can afford the A-55Gs right now. You have one extra k-55 from the La Scala you already made switch to A-55G right?
  22. In your latest update you mention bobcrites@gmail.com as your email, but i've been in contact with you via bobcrites@mac.com. Don't use that one anymore?
  23. Wow! That’s great news! Have you ordered one? I’ll wait to hear from you on if it works and if it should work for the A55G as well as the K55. Hope he didn’t just say he did it but only updated the text Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. That Tom sure is terrific. Is he GOAT already or after this win? I'm sure most older gents here would still take Montana. I grew up a Niners fan because Jerry Rice was like my Michael Jordan of football and i was never much of an Oilers fan even though im a born and raised Houstonian(Texans fan ever since inception), but even i have to acknowledge Brady passing Montana.
