  1. Plugging the vent makes the speaker sound more like a sealed speaker but without the improvement in distortion. In my case it seemed like it killed the 33 to 60 cycle bass.
  2. Thanks to Dubby... Reminds me that I need to update my software!
  3. I have a 7009 which I am learning to love. My biggest complaint lies in the Audyssey which does not sound good to my ears. My guests and I all think my manual settings give better surround effects and generally sound better. I have found that I am getting good tech support even though my amp is technically beyond the warranty period.
  4. I am a Marantz owner and still have my Yamaha in the closet. I prefer the Marantz since it seems have more intuitive adjustments. Frankly my ears do not detect much difference in sound. I think the Marantz handles the sudden wild burst of sound effect better. I have liked the fact that even after several years I can still call tech support and get quick and quality tech support. I am feeding a 9.1 system which has TSCM fronts in a custom built theater. For music I prefer the 2.1 since it is more like being at a concert and less like a theater.
  5. I have been running my 82 ii(s) with my 10 watt Class D amp that I paid something like $12 for. I can literally make the loudness almost painful with 10 watts. Your amp should work great.
  6. Room harmonics have a great deal to do with bass sound. Try moving the speakers around a bit and consider location of major furniture since a couch or soft chair is a great absorber of bass. Try a throw rug directly in front of the speaker which often makes a huge improvement. THEN try foam.
  7. New one runs $899. This looks like a bargain.
  8. "very rare" Does not charge extra for the dirt.
  9. https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/ele/6081528411.html Industrial La Scala $900
  10. I also think the price is a good one for the buyer.
  11. These dimples will come out leaving no mark mostly by using a mild vacuum. On mine I drilled a hole in a 2" suction cup, inserted a glass tube and suctioned them out using my mouth. Seems clear why you feel you no longer need the 7s as we all seem to think the Palladiums have won the day. Would love to have your comments on the difference between the 7s and the Palladiums.
  12. I have heard a set of 7s with an ALK crossover and the result was remarkable. I think as a size and cost compromise the 7s are the best movie/music choice there is for most people. I would take and old, used and well worn RF 83 to the 280 any day.
  13. "RF-7 = super bright and fatiguing RP-280F = technically a less capable tweeter that is much smaller in terms of surface area, but they are much more comfortable in terms of listening fatigue and sound more laid back." I have had 7s and still have a set of 82ii which are very similar to the 280s. I have friends with 7's and what we all have done is a little treble end work with the EQ and the 7s are sweet. Usually the "bright and fatiguing" sound comes from a poorly damped room with unwanted reflections. Given a properly damped room the 7s are just plain great. I would still be running a set of 7s but for my TSCMs.
  14. If you can find one, the RC-7 was made for the RF-7s and to my ear is better than the 64s. Close call so just another possibility.
  15. There was a time when Warfedale was England's best. The only real way to find out is to have it demonstrated.
  16. I agree the 7s can sound a bit treble, especially in a live room. Most of my friends with 7s simply put a bit of EQ into play and calm them down a bit. I think in a well damped room they are perfect as they come. Either way they out play my 82ii(s) and the 280.
  17. You may have to add sound absorbing materials to walls ceiling etc. Try a cardboard box under the speaker. Mine worked best at about 12 inches. I did not see but have you tried outside but angled in at 20-30 degrees? Mine sound their best angled in about 20 degrees or so.
  18. The specs say 30 to 24Kc for the 7 and 32 to 25kc for the 280. The 280 is much like the RF 82 ii.
  19. You can go to the Klipsch website and pull the spec sheets on both. Based on hearing them both I personally like the RF-7s.
  20. Also check them with the TV you intend to use. Several worked just fine on my small monitor TV but would not work on my big Samsung. Many hours of work to replace them when they took 2 minutes to string as we were building.
  21. Before you snake that 25' cable through the wall hook it up and see if it works. I have found almost 0% of the cheap cables work at 25' and many of the $100 class cables would not work with my big Samsung. Had to go in and remove 2 of them and replace them. So check them to be sure they work BEFORE putting them in the wall.
  22. I have just switched the DE 110 into a TSCM top [ takes 2 for each top] with a most rewarding result to my ears. Because of the size limits of the cabinet it was the only one I could find to fit. Had to get the 16 ohm version to match the K78 units I removed.
  23. This one appears to have died but I just replaced my K33s from my TSCMs [One 84 and one 85] with the cast frame Crites' woofers and the result was for the better.
  24. Difference is subjective but quite noticeable. Music seems clearer and with better stereo effect. Even with the full 9 working I hear the same effect. I have just given up on Audyssey. Any other Marantz users out there?
  25. I have a 16 X25 theater with Tscm fronts. I have a top of the line Marantz with 9.1 and have 9.1 speakers installed. I prefer music in stereo. I have run Audyssey about 10 times and no matter what I do the sound improves when I go "pure direct." I have no explanation; perhaps it is the Marantz?
