  2. Ugh! See what happens when I don't obsessively track this forum for a couple of days? Doesn't it just figure... Well now the auction has ended due to an "error in the listing." Guess it wasn't meant to be. : (
  3. Great pics in the ad. Are these early 80's?
  4. Oops - I meant to say I'm looking for Khorns for the 2-channel, not Cornwalls.
  5. I'm actually looking for Cornwalls for my 2-channel rig, if I can swing the cost and find the space. I'd of course not mind them for home theater, but right now my HT setup is so sweet that the 2-channel really needs the help first.
  6. Wish I were closer. I'd be seriously tempted to use it as a center with my Cornwall mains.
  7. Funny to have this discussion, 'cause I just noticed a pair of T-50's for sale locally for $180. Any thoughts?
  8. Same part number probably means same magnets. The K42E in the HIP is different from the standard Heresy.
  9. Oooh, that smarts. Still a great story to share, we can all dream...
  10. Thanks! I'm really pleased to have them in my HT. Unreal with the HIPs!
  11. Thanks for the report. I've been tempted by a couple of Tangents, but just didn't see enough written about them to feel confident pulling the trigger. Your pair looks great, and it really does look like a ported Heresy in a cabinet built for better bass extension. Is there any difference between the drivers of the Heresy and Tangent woofers? Is it possible the Tangents are using the HIP magnets, which are 2X heavier than standard Heresy?
  12. FYI - the listed address on the Yelp review is for shipping. You can call for an appointment and get the actual shop address that way.
  13. When did Klipsch move from plywood to MDF construction for the Heritage series?
  14. I haven't seen anything posted here about Paul Johnston and The Loudspeaker Store, so want let forum members know about a great resource: I'd been looking at vintage speakers and noticed Paul's ads on Craigslist for speaker repairs. I called him up and learned that he uses OEM parts or parts which have been tested to ensure they match original spec parts sonically. He is actually the one who turned me on to Klipsch in the first place; he worked for Klipsch for a time and was exposed to the brand early as his grandfather was PWK's first manufacturer's rep in the Seattle area. Paul is a fount of knowledge on Klipsch speakers. I've discussed pro's and con's of various models - Belle vs. LaScala, Forté I vs. Forté II, KG series, etc. He has been generous with his time and insights, steering me well on my purchases. He did great work recently on a pair Cornwall I's I bought where both woofers had been blown. I sent him pics and he quoted for repairs, plus assured me the cabinets would clean up well. The Cornwalls came out sounding gorgeous and the repaired speakers cost about half what I would have spent otherwise. He also replaced the fuse assembly on one of my Heresy HIP speakers, which went to center channel duty. I now have a killer 5-channel Heritage setup, plus the added peace of mind knowing he repairs things the way Klipsch would do it themselves. (They also work on Speakerlab, Altec, ADS, Infinity, and many other brands.) If you're local you can drop off speakers at two locations; they also do a lot of work with folks who live outside the area and just ship their drivers. 15. If you're looking for a quick sale - at $300 they'd be a steal, $350 a good deal; $400 is not too shabby for a vintage pair in such good condition. You might get more if you're in Sacremento proper, but it would take longer to sell them. That said, I'm with Seadog. If you don't have a better pair of speakers, these would be hard to replace affordably. You can almost use these as bookshelves and yet they sound better than many main speakers. Very versatile, and the make excellent center channels. Think about it!
  16. Shaun, I'd almost make the drive just to get fish & chips at The Anchor. Hurts just to think about it...
  17. What do you suppose was dripping on the subwoofer cone? Maybe it's the light but...

  19. Should be interesting to see how your project turns out. Good luck, and please post pics!
  20. Have you bought them yet? There are some threads on Tangents...
  21. OK, I'll bite: what are you getting?
