I replaced my 15” HSU sub with a REL s812 and the REL is an incredible upgrade for music and also great for HT. The REL s812 is fast and blends perfectly with my Forte IVs. It’s interesting that so many people on this forum have never heard RELs and yet they have such negative opinions of REL because they are not cheap nor the size of a large school bus. There are good reasons that people choose a good fast sub that can keep up with Klipsch main speakers speed.

They are the loves of our lives. We have incredible bonds together and they are our priority, always. Glad it shows.

I followed Claude’s recipe except the final crossover mod and my Super Heresies sounded almost identical to my Forte 1s. Best Heresey sound I have ever heard.

She says she loves me 🤣. She likes the Forte 1s but prefers the sound of the 4s. She was very impressed with the change from my Hsu 15 sub to my 12” REL.

I agree 100%. I live my life enjoying what I have not lusting for things I don’t have. I love my audio system

I find the REL adds more than punch to the bass of the Fortes. It opens up the soundstage quite a bit in my listening space and all frequencies sound better to me

I sure do! I love the Evo 400. I had an MA 252 and it sounded very good - but thePL sounded better to me so I traded it in on the EVO 40 and I am hooked on the all tube integrated.

I guess I did not explain it in detail enough. I have had the forte ones for the past 20 years and they were right where my forte4s are now. They both sound great. The IVs sound much better to me than the Forte 1s. The bass of the IVs is deeper and mid bass is more punchy and the midrange is better than the 1s. But… add the Rel S812 subwoofer and the entire system sounds EVEN better. It’s not that the Fortes are not awesome but adding the REL has made everything sound better. I understand that some people don’t like subwoofers but I am not one of those people. The forte 1s do not sound as amazing as the IVs with identical placement. I would not trade my IVs for the ones.

I think the Rel S812 is a Major improvement to the entire musical presentation of my Forte IVs.

Any speaker can benefit from adding a Sub if it’s integrated well with your mains. My ones and IVs sound great with no sub but adding the Sub takes them to a much higher level. Much wider and deeper soundstage at even low volumes and the Fortes play like much larger speakers. Fortes are wonderful speakers no matter the version.

This looks like a cool documentary and I will be renting it for sure. vinyl is an experience and I still enjoy it as much as when I was young. Back before fire and the wheel.

I have also never heard the 11s. But, I have the 1s and the IVs and I much prefer the bass of the IVs over the 1s. Much punchier mid bass from the IVs than the 1s and the entire sound stage of the IVs is deeper and wider. My experiences are that the Forte 1s are great speakers but I would not trade the IVs for the 1s. I am lucky to have and enjoy both. I think the IVs take my system to another level over the 1s. Of course that’s just me in my space etc.

I have Forte IVs paired with my new REL S812 and I love the synergy the combo of the Forte IVs and REL sub beings The REL makes the Fortes sound so much better in my space. Night and day difference with the sub on. Wider and deeper sound stage and they match so well you don’t hear the sub as separate from the Fortes. you should be in for a big treat.

Mr Deal has a lot of very cool toys!!! I like seeing people follow their passions and enjoy success in so doing. I find it inspiring but thats just me. I am not envious or jealous. I like seeing people living the dream whatever that may be for them. I will just enjoy my little Primaluna Integrated and my Fortes and new Rel sub and pretend I'm wealthy, too.

I still have the Forte 1s my father bought in the mid 80s and they now have Crites crossovers and Dave As lmahl tweeters and some gorgeous cane grills. I use them as my rear surrounds now with Forte IVs as mains with a REL s812. I am very satisfied with the synergy of the speakers in my system. In my space and with my ears the forte 1s still sound fantastic and are even more beautiful than the day my dad brought them home from the local high end Klipsch dealer. That said I do think that the forte IVs sound quite a bit better than the 1s. I think that Roy did an amazing job on the Forte upgrades he incorporated in the IVs. Bottom line is that I enjoy all of my Fortes eithervintage Forte 1s or my newer Forte IVs. I hope you enjoy those beautifully restored forte 1s of yours. Vintage is cool and I love the sound that vintage speakers can produce.

Thank you so much for your first hand experiences and I have not noticed a difference with my Hermes added to my Pontus, either. Like you I needed to give it a try to decide for myself. Now my thinking is to just stay with the Pontus which I find quite enjoyable. good luck in retirement. I am enjoying mine.

Did you ever trade your T+ for the silver one? Is the terminator noticeably better than the Venus?
