  1. Doesn't impact my decision making process regarding my systems at all. Listening to the component in question in my systems and rooms for an extended time has been how I select my components for my 45+ years in this hobby. If others wish to do it differently, that's up to them. Each of us will discover the best path to our own personal enjoyment of audio and music. Just my opinion.
  2. Quicksilver Line Stage Preamp and Quicksilver Phono Stage (if you do vinyl). Or find a used Quicksilver Full Function Preamp. Other used preamps to consider: Audio Research SP3A-1, SP6B. CJ PV12, PV5. Audible Illusions M3D. Any of these will sound wonderful when matched to a compatible amp on your Klipsch speakers. Just my opinion.
  3. I use 12ga Dueland tinned, cloth insulation hook up wire. Sounds great to me and does not cost an arm and a leg.
  4. @joessportster has a pair on sale for $700 in the Garage Sale room. These are "real deal" amps that are on a sonic par with amps that cost considerably more money. Just my opinion.
  5. The Quicksilver Mini Mono and Horn Mono amps were under $1,000 when new. Perhaps look for a used pair?
  6. Thank you, @Schu. The Bel Cantos have enough power but the M-L CLS are a pretty brutal load and dip to the 1 - 2 ohm range in the highs.
  7. Thank you. The taglines don't show up on my phone. Your speakers are plenty efficient for a single ended amp. You won't get a Single Ended Triode for $500 but there are several Single Ended Pentode amps that should sound great on your speakers. I discussed the ~$400 Musical Paradise amp on the other thread. There are very similar amps from a number of manufacturers. If there is any way you can stretch your budget to $800, I highly recommend the Push Pull EL84 KingKo KA-101 - 12 very sweet watts per channel. http://kingkoaudio.com/en/pages/KINGKO-AUDIO.html Hope this helps.
  8. Any experience with them driving a <2 ohm reactive load like the original Martin-Logan CLS?
  9. Which speakers do you have? And which preamp will you use?
  10. Instead of one of the amps on eBay, I would spring for the Musical Paradise MP-301 MK3 for $340 - $560 (depending on upgraded tubes and with shipping). Musical Paradise are good folks to deal with plus I believe that there are some folks on the forums using the MP-301 on their Klipsch. Just my opinion.
  11. Thank you for the additional info. As others have stated, the more common Single Ended Triode (SET) amps use the 45, 2A3, 300B (among others) Directly Heated Triode tubes. There are also Single Ended amps that use Pentode tubes, some wired as triodes. For $700 or so, I would look at Single Ended amp based on one of the plentiful and reasonably priced pentode tubes (EL84, EL34, KT88) - my personal preference is for the EL84. These can be run in Pentode or wired in Triode (~50% of the power). Decware and Dennis Had are certainly good places to start. As an aside, I run 845, 300B and 2A3 SET amps. One of my favorite amps, however, is my EL84 SEP amp, the Almarro A205a. Drives my Belles beautifully. If you find one of the A205a amps used, grab it. This is just my opinion and, as always, YMMV.
  12. Size of your room? Distance from speakers to listening position? Type(s) of music? How loud do you listen? What are your listening criteria/biases? Need this information to make a useful recommendation.
  13. If you have to worry about losing $62K on a pair of amps, you are not their target market.

The two streaming services I use regularly at home are Tidal and Deezer. Both stream at "CD quality" (their claims). I also have high hopes for Qobuz, when it is fully available in the USA. Everything else works for cars, airplanes, etc. or if I can't find a particular album on Tidal or Deezer. Just my opinion.
  15. I've not heard the Audiosource AMP 100 but I have heard the Audiosource AMP ONE. The Audiosource AMP ONE is a competent 80 watt/channel solid state amp that, in my opinion, sounds O.K. and could be described as hitting "above its weight". If I use @ODS123 logic, the AMP 100 and AMP ONE should sound the same. There is no way that the Audiosource AMP ONE sounded like the CJ Premier Four and Quicksilver M135 tube amps or the Sonographe SA120 and Adcom GFA-555 transistor amps my friend was rotating into his system that day. I guess my final comment to @ODS123 is that if you don't hear any differences between the Audiosource AMP 100 and your Autoformer coupled McIntosh MA6600, more power to you. Evidently the differences in amps are not important enough to you to notice. Just my opinion. Best of luck getting the thread to 100 pages.
  16. @Coytee - This is what I've been looking to do with my Belles. Would you mind sharing the details? If PM is preferred, please let me know. Thank you.
  17. @glens @Marvel - Nice to see some fellow JBL aficionados. To my ears, the 44xx series connects me to the music. Currently have the 4430, 4425 and 4408. Not 44xx series, but also have the L44 with the great LE8T full range driver. The 4430 requires the SET845 monoblocks to sound their best. The rest certainly work on the SET845s but will aslo work on the SE 300B, 2A3 and EL84 amps in residence. Still looking for a pair of 4435s. Just my opinion.
  18. Absolutely agree. You have my assurances that I will not re-engage. It is just audio and audio should be fun.
  19. Interesting characterization from someone who has been very confrontational and condescending. If asking a question so I can better understand another poster's position on an issue is trolling to you, you really need to reconsider where you set the "trolling bar". Or is anyone who offers an opinion that differs from your opinion automatically a "troll"? On the contrary, you, sir, are attempting to create conflict where no conflict is intended or desired. That is my definition of a troll. My question to @ODS123 is a sincere one and was asked to gain understanding of his position. But you knew that, didn't you.
  20. @ODS123 - Still no response to my sincere request for clarification regarding what you mean when you use the term "linear". I have to assume, since you have not responded after multiple requests, that you do not intend to do so. What a shame. I had hoped to gain a better understanding of your position through conversation.
  21. Love them or hate them (I love them), the LS3/5a is an iconic speaker that can still provide a lot of audio satisfaction. A completely unlikely pairing that happens to work splendidly is the LS3/5a driven by my 845SET monoblocks. In my opinion, of course.
  22. Thank you for your clear example. I do understand. I am curious what definition @ODS123 is using as the basis of his stated assertions.
  23. Obviously better than your ability to frame your answer in a manner that is clear and unambiguous. But I digress. How about restating your answer so even us stoopid folk can understand.
