  1. Very nice, 05 right ? Oddly none of my GS'es have been the 04+, in fact none have been made after 96 (I want to say) but I may have had a titleless 98 as well as a damaged 98 if memory serves. I however in 05 converted a 89 into a full spec 04 the right way, and modded the clip on's to work with the 04 fairing for someone on the GSTwin site. I have a katana FE 96 right now, as well as 2 MZ skorpions, a savage, a 90 GSXR 1127, SV1000, a GR650, an xs650, an XJ1100 and a few other modded GS'es in various states of hack. Thanks. Srinath.
  2. 70's-90's jap. I am probably the resident expert on the 89-09 GS500 (gstwin.com) but I've also had lots of good experience with Kawi eli's, Yamaha XS'es, Honda nighthawk's etc. I've owned 44 bikes total, and only about 10-12 distinct make/models. 17 of those have been GS500's. Thanks. Srinath.
  3. Thanks guys. I haven't ridden in a few months due to the move, but I also have not been a "biker for fun" yet in my life. I'm a commuter, one of those bay area bad habits I need to lose. And start riding for fun. I repair them and commute on them. That better change pretty soon I hope. Thanks. Srinath.
  4. That symmetric veneer - well looks like - well - veneer. Wood is random. When I walk into a store with wood anything - I automatically reject all symmetric and equal patterns as fake. Needless to say - I walked into an IKEA in 1999 and have not ever repeated that painful experience. Thanks. Srinath.
  5. I recognize some names from audiokarma - which has oddly been blocked from my work, and since I don't have a computer otherwise, I am SOL - anyway - I have to say you all are pretty darn cool. I'm on AK as Srinath, but not posted in several months. I want to so bad though. I never had a reason till a couple weeks ago to join a klipsch forum, cos I had no klipsch of any cred - but well, life changes in a hurry ... Hey, I am in the process of settling down in Columbia SC, and soon - meaning in just a few short years - be where I can welcome anyone passing through (why would you be passing through this place unless you wanted to drop into the Atlantic ocean is another story) for a drink and a meal and a place to lay their head down if need be. I am barely 200 miles from Atlanta, 100 from Charleston and Myrtle beach SC and 100 from Charlotte NC and I am truly a biker @ heart who's somehow finding their way through high end audio. Bikes from the 90's - I know, I have dealers call me asking for tips to repair those. I'll tell you how, but I am too lazy to do it. LOL. Audio - I'd be glad if you reciprocate that disdain - Glad - very glad. Thanks for being so cool and for the forum. Srinath. (same name on all fora except on gstwin - where I am "the buddha") I am Srinath_69 on some of the weight loss fora - also getting to be an expert on that (no I'm a follower of Dr Fung)
  6. No U anywhere - thanks. Supposedly not 80 - LOL, what can I say, I might as well start all my sentences with "supposedly". Thanks. Srinath.
  7. OK mine are 8624573 top cabinet and 8624574 bass bin, and 8624575 top and 8624576 bass bin. Is that correct for how these were paired up ??? They're supposedly 1980 models. Thanks. Srinath.
  8. Deer skin mats have so much static that you sit the record on it and you can hold it vertical and it will keep the record just from static. I can see how it will nicely clean the record when its put on it, and it should even make a handy record cleaning sponge cover instead of velvet like a few I have had are. Cool. Srinath.
  9. How do you get into and out of that door on the right ??? Coming to think of it, the one on the left opens into this room right ? How do you get out that door too then ?? Thanks. Srinath.
  10. I'm saying that its likely to have a new sub - A car xplod in red in it. Be careful check all the components, that guy obviously doesn't know his drivers. Thanks. Srinath.
  11. I have seen these before and this line is a bit worrisome with the comic sans word in red being the KISS of death - Just IMHO - new subs in 2013 - I hear the word Subs ... Yea I visualize nice car 15" xplods in a neon red. maybe a genetic defect. Thanks. Srinath.
  12. I've had a few and may still own a few of these. Its a 75 watt a channel and the D version is "digital" supposedly cleaner. I also have a 2200 if I recall with a funky on/off switch, as well as a few sta 95's, 80's and a 2500 or 2 lying about. Good receivers, and if you like realistic and that silver look, hey that's a keeper. Thanks. Srinath.
  13. I too have serial numbers 2 apart. These are 80 ones in a birch finish. Thanks. Srinath.
  14. That pair is a pioneer SG - GS something that's not worth the trouble of hauling off to goodwill ... Dunno what that other one is ... I'll dumpster dive to look at these, but I will not get these out of a nice un fettered curb into the back of my truck unless someone was standing right next to me with a Benjamin waiting to pick em out of the truck. With speakers the price you pay is in space sometimes. Not neccesarily $$$. Thanks. Srinath.
  15. In a year - more like in the last month - I've managed to get my hands on a pair of Klipschorns (my first klipsch so to speak) and they're not as beat up as I first feared. Anyone know how I can repair a few rounded corners as well as some other surface blemishes ??? Thanks. Srinath.
  16. Gem is a crown ce1000 re-branded, and to my ears the adcom 5500 sounds far better than most of the rest, ooo I also have a adcom gfa1 - but the adcom 5500 will not drive a speaker that needs current - like a B&W 801/802 matrix, the gfa 1 will blow with anything that is a variable impedance - if it gets below 4 ohm, its likely to fry. The best amp I have for a variable load to my ears is a proceed amp 5, but its a 125 X 5 amp and I guess I could drive the HF section X 2 and the bass bin X 2 with 4 of the 5 and leave the 5th one unused - or drive the center (likely to be a KLF 10 turned horizontal when its not in 2 ch only use) I have to dig through the pile of amps and try them one at a time I guess. And repeat that exercise with the pre or the HT processor and repeat it all when I go HDMI in that room. I am going to start with the Khorn and the Z9 cos those are already sitting in that room and go from there. For now a short throw projector needing bulb is going to finish out that room. EV's triaxials put in as mids and a pair of RCA linaeum fitted bookshelves will finish the 7 ch setup. Thanks. Srinath.
  17. OMG guys. These are very small amps. I have lots and lots and lots of amps in this small category, adcom 535, 5300, 5200, 5500, audiosource 100, gem 1000, and more by nad, nikko, carver, onkyo power amps from 100-200 watts - I think I need to find a couple of 2ch/3ch crossovers. That should let me run these either vertically biamped or horizontally biamped. Be it 3 way or 2 way. But, then, do you guys think putting in a passive crossover and running them out of just 1 channel from a receiver isn't a great idea. I'll run a high quality receiver, maybe a Yamaha Z9 or something or maybe run a proceed amp 5 from an emotiva umc 200. Thanks. Srinath.
  18. I was thinking I'll hold onto my EAW 2500 pair - I have someone circling one of em, I may have to shoo him off. Otherwise I was hoping to use this crest 900 I have for the MF/HF section and 1 EAW for the bass bin. Has anyone used the EAW2500 for the bass bin - same as QSC 2450 really. Thanks. Srinath.
  19. Oh I almost forgot (cos its stashed away @ a friends place) I have a semi folded horn type speaker nut not a jamboree foot print - its rectangular - custom made by some company in TX that's a cheap rip off off this. Its complete with spray on bed liner and a eminence kappa and meant to serve as a bass bin and a pole mount base for something else. The eminence kappa was what triggered my memory. Have to get it to my new house with the move. Thanks. Srinath.
  20. Right, sorry, Jamboree's or soniphase clones. Thanks. Srinath.
  21. I have looked at the other ones, these seem accurate. I will have to get pics in a bit, I am moving, have the bass bins and the compression drivers and the JBL 2405 assy's in 1 house and the eminence parts in the other house. These is no front cover, maybe the guy was planning to install 4 of them 15's in each bass bin like I've seen on soniphase.com. I am not quite selling it either atleast not just yet, enjoy it before sell it is my policy. To enjoy, I first need to build it. Thanks. Srinath.
  22. The guy told me they were Jubilees and they look like the ones I've seen in pics of Jubilees. There is also a Gauss loud speaker I have from a earlier foray - GAUSS Cetec 2081 / DK2081. I also have a single jbl 2440 compression driver. I may try to find its pair. Or maybe find a different one that woks better. Thanks. Srinath.
  23. I've heard the same passage of music on an B&W 801 pair, an 802 pair, a B&W FCM+PCS8 set, an EV centurion pair and an EVsp12b pair in the same space and I can easily tell the difference in the highs. The order above is decreasing highs to my ear. With 801 and 802 being almost the same, the FCM/PCS being the next step down and a big step there, and the ev's being another big step down, with the 2 ev's being nearly the same. So its like ranked as 1,1.001, 3, 4 and 4.001. Thanks. Srinath.
  24. Matrix ?? Or that HPM stands for Hyper polymer molecular - I don't need it to match the Klipsch specs, in fact, I need it to match the EV, or Eminence or something else. Thanks. Srinath.
  25. Pics - not for a bit. The base cabs of the thing are playing barrier in my old house, and the woofers etc are in my new house - Oh yea we're moving at the same time as well. F U N. I am OK with 3 way as well, I want to get a genuine 20k Hz extension, In fact I am hoping to get well beyond 20k, to the 25k range, because I can hear to 17k or so @ last test, but I believe getting to 25k means the driver delivers 20k with ease. So I am hoping that with enough power to that 20k range I can hear more. I am thinking B&W matrix/nautilus style hard dome for a super tweeter, or maybe a Pioneer hpm 40 super tweet, which is incidentally sitting around with woofers in my spare parts pile. Thanks. Srinath.
