Just saw amp's speakers are set for 6 ohms ... so not worried ... will try parallel. Comb filter effect; wondering if I'll ever hear it Cheers, Emile -

Haha ... as stated "just for fun" ... just to compare the differences Cheers, Emile -
Currently use a JVC P-3030 preamp with a VTA ST70 tube amp and sound is very, very good. Before this current setup I used both a Marantz 1060 and a Marantz 2252B on my Forte's. Actually, think both of those sounded just as good Cheers, Emile

Asked Bob Crites about a crossover for this. He said you are building a NEW type of speaker, requiring testing, testing, etc to build a proper xo. See https://critesspeakers.com/frequently-asked-questions.html . Guess this project is "dead."

Thanks! Guess I'm trying to figure out if it is worth the money and time to do this with these driver's. Cheers, Emile

Amp, pre-amp, receiver advice for Forte IIs

JEEZ ... update. Just got it back from my vintage tech $210 to fix the selector switch and some new caps Hope it's worth it ... but my tech offered me $400 for it -
Hi All, Trying to get some inputs/thoughts Was thinking about building a center channel speaker ... mostly because I am constrained by a 7 inch space (and 9 inch deep) under my TV. So; have 2 KG2.5 boxes I do not use ... threads indicate these are pretty decent for center speakers. Also have an R-28F tweeter (think it's 8 ohm) or I could use the K-86-K tweeters from the KG2.5's. So; have 4 x 6 1/2 inch K-1019-S woofers (think they are 4 ohms) and these tweeters. Was thinking about building a box with woofer-woofer-tweeter-woofer-woofer layout. NO clue if I can somehow use the KG2.5 crossovers . Appreciate your inputs! Cheers, Emile

Hi All, Hoping to get some additional advise Have a cheap home theater setup with an Onkyo RZ810, KG3.5's, KG1.5's and a center KV2. (For REAL sound I use my KPT-904's and Cornwall's ... same room but hooked up to seperate amps ) Anyhow, the KV2 center sounds "tiny," but it is the only center that fits nicely under my tv ( an RC-52 might fit, but don't think it will be a great improvement ). Ordered a Bob Crites Ti diaphragm for the KV2 ... maybe that will help. Was shopping on CraigsList and for $60 found another oak KV2 plus a set of KG2.5's. (One can always use more Klipsch speakers ... even inferior KG's.) So (yeah; just for fun) want to try dual KV2 centers. Did some searching and LOVED @Schu's comment, i.e. "Less than optimal... who cares. I am slightly perturbed to think I need to live in a mind set where nothing less than perfection is thought of as being less then human." Yes; understand there are some issues, but many seem to strive for theoretical optimums . Just got the new AVR, so I am a bit hesitant to run the wrong load on it. Parallel yields 4 ohms, Serial 16 ohms. Many opinions stated "don't worry about it." Should I not be concerned? Or should I use a transformer ... if yes; 8 to 16 (edit ... don't think 8-16 is possible) or 8 to 4 ohms? Many, many thanks! Cheers, Emile sample transformer ...

AWESOME ... pretty jealous ... got KPT-904's a couple of months ago, but the seller also had Jube horns. But ... could not get them "past" my wife

OK; seems the "2 MB" limit has a time constraint. Very nice components ... bass/treble/volume knobs are all "discrete." Anyone familiar with this? Only info I found was $450 in 1978 and specs on hifiengine. Cheers, Emile

OK; got this 1977-80 JVC P-3030 preamp off eBay. Tested it vs my PAT-4 and my neighbors PAS-3. Think it sounds much better, but no clue. Anyone familiar with these? Some more pics in next post

Awesome price! Good luck to Keith

JEEZ ... you LUCKY guy ... how come I never find bargains like that FYI, just picked up a JVC P-3030 preamp. Amazing ... have not hooked it up to my VTA ST70 tube amp, but tested it vs a Dynaco PAT-4 and a PAS-3 ... think it is much better. OK; who knows But you may want to check out some of these earlier preamps Cheers, Emile
