Wood screws and MDF are a bad combination. Rather than glue the components in place, I'm using machine screws and lock-nuts to hold the drivers, port tubes and terminal cups in place. I made gaskets from some thin closed cell foam to seal the components against the enclosures when the screws are tightened. There will also be a gasket under the back panel that will be screwed into the glue blocks with wood screws. I've not yet drilled holes in the rear panels or punched holes in the rear gasket shown lying on the glue blocks The foam panels will be trimmed and attached with spray adhesive to the sides, tops and back panels I over estimated the number of foam panels. The surplus will eventually be offered free (I'll pay shipping) to the forum as pay it forward because the drivers were donated to this project by Andy, aka, "Klipschguy" on this forum. Note the dust cap on the driver in the photo. Two of the drivers had dented dust caps. Parts Express replacement dust caps were all too large for these small drivers, except the caps for Bose 901s. At $0.69 each, I bought six.

This shows glue blocks clamped in place. SWMBO was distressed to see the Home Depot pine trim used to make glue blacks is from Chile. Zoom in on the photo and you can read the sticker on the piece used to protect the enclosure from the metal clamp.

During Father's Day weekend was not a good plan to complete this project. Much was accomplished, but they're not done. The 4 enclosures are essentially glued together. I decided to glue on the motor boards and make the backs removable. Rather than screw into MDF, I installed glue blocks (similar to inside Heresy speakers). The cutting, gluing & clamping times 4 took much longer than anticipated. There are only so many clamps. The photo shows an enclosure before the glue blocks are installed.

I don't recommend it. in the 70s, I drove four 8 ohm Speakerlab SKhorns (2/channel in parallel for 4 ohm load) with a Dynaco ST-400 (300 watts/channel into 4 ohms). I was filling gymnasiums with very loud music. Since then, I've powered Khorns, LaScalas and Cornwalls with as little as 11 watts/channel. Quality is better than quantity. Bridging your amp won't make Khorns sound better, IMO.

I should be able to produce music by the end of the weekend.

The Tekton Is .51 cubic feet. The Parts Express box is .56 cubic feet. The plastic port tube can be tuned by trimming.

mdeneen, Mark, suggested the bass reflex design similar to the Tekton which used the Fostex FE103. It's rumored the RS 40-1197 was made for RS by Fostex. They have the same specs and are similar in appearance. Mark predicted I'd like the BR enclosures better than the rear horn. We shall see.

Eight years later I'm finally getting around to trying a bass reflex enclosure for the Rat Shack 40-1197 "full range" drivers. Parts Express was having a sale on knocked-down mdf enclosures. At $29 each for CNC dado cut .56 cubic foot enclosures, I had to buy two pair.

....With enough amps to weld metal....He's lucky....Yeah I'd say that probably hurt.........A momento.. As I recall, he wasn't burned or otherwise injured, but he was scared un momento . . . and then some. The diagonal cutters were actually more useful after that. The notch was useful for stripping wire. When they turned up during the house clean-out, it seemed fitting for my little bro to keep them as a memento.

My younger brother cut the cord of an operating TV with a pair of diagonal cutters. It blew a fuse (if you're old enough to recall those) and threw him across the room. Years later, when we cleared out our late parents' home, I found the cutters with a notch welded into them and gave them to my brother as a memento.

I have to disagree with my friend Glenn. I'd much prefer seeing the Bruins hoist the cup than the Blackhawks.

These Crites CNC cut Heresy 2 and/or H3 grille frames are yours for the cost of postage. They definitely aren't for H1. The tweeter opening is 4.25 x 1.9375 and 1.125 from the top edge, the squawker opening is 9.0 x 3.0 and 3.5 down from the top edge. The distance between the bottom of the tweeter opening to the top of the squawker opening is 0.4375. Please send PM or email if interested.

From the photos, it's difficult to determine if these are genuine Klipsch (possibly decorators) or DIY clones. In any case, they're probably worth the asking price, especially if the bass bins are genuine Klipsch or well made DIY.

Go Wings! EDIT The over-achieving Wings are done. Hawks 3-2 OT Might be just as well. It would've grown tiresome listening to Chcago fans complain (justifiably) about the waived- off goal. The better team survived a scare from a bunch of youngsters. As Cubs fans' tattoos say, "Wait 'til next year."
