  1. We are under the most insidious attack by spammers I've ever seen. Hidden links in titles and in usernames. PLEASE report any you see from newbies. I know this has been going on a while as I've been otherwise occupied until today, but there are at least 60 in the approval cue right now so some may have gotten through. I have PM'd Chad and alerted the other mods. Please keep an eye out! I have no idea what these do but you can be sure it is NOT good. Dave
  2. No problem. My system is 7.1 as well...but two of them are Klipsch but not Heritage. Dave
  3. No. You need some real speakers. "No highs, no lows...must be Bose." And welcome to the Forum and home of REAL speakers.
  4. Unless you have rather crappy PC, the motherboard audio is going to be much cleaner than a 40.00 soundcard. I am also a computer expert, as well as one who listens on a 5.1 Heritage system with sub good to C0, 21.5hz. MB onboard sound is as good as the most expensive ADACs which are the same shame as speaker wire and such. My heritage is all zip cord. Dave
  5. Got two folks "confused." I'll be happy to handle your confusion via PM if you wish. Dave
  6. Wish I'd been there. Fate intervened. Maybe better luck next year. Appears to have been awesome. Dave
  7. Drivel like this is completely unacceptable here. As a high risk individual under doctor's orders to stay quarantined and wear an N-95 mask when I must be exposed, and who has lost dear friends who drowned with a tube down their throats I find this unacceptable. I've not gone through all the comments as I don't want to be made angry by science deniers and those who somehow are deluded into thinking that it is their constitutional right to spread death as they see fit. This thread will be locked and left as a warning to others who wish to spread dangerous lies. You all know me as a moderate moderator...but don't push it. Dave
  8. Certainly hope to be there. I'll have to take leave but I'll do that. Dave
  9. My experience is that I've never had an issue with 20.00 PC CD players. I rarely play a CD, preferring to rip them files I can store on my server. I find most of the best ADACs in motherboards these days equal to other DACs at any price. Loading a spread sheet from a high dollar CD reader doesn't make it more accurate. It's all ones and zeros and they are either decoded correctly or not at all. Just my humble opinion. Your mileage and pocketbook may vary. If you believe throwing more money at something will ensure better sound, spend all you want. Dave

Maybe I wasn't clear. That was Ike. This one was a dud, but only by about 35 miles. Dave

Dodged a bullet here as well, though closer than Carl. Low is due east of us right now and about 50 miles away. Clean side is pretty free of everything max winds at my house 22mph, lowest pressure 29.41, rain just over an inch. Bossier City got hammered. Us to but it turned ENE at Bossier and wound up where it is. Same thing happened to me with Ike, but that was because the eye actually moved about 30 miles towards me rather than threading the needle of the ship channel into Galveston Bay where it would have meant a 22' surge. Instead, it was 17' and bad enough but much less damage. Still, my anemometer died at 120mph... House was only slightly damage, roof and privacy fence. Dave

Folks in LA should batten down the hatches. This has gotten worse over the last six hours. Potential for hurricane force winds to south of Shreveport! TS force winds here in Texarkana. Whole area is already going to be soaked from Marvin, so serious flooding quite likely. Dave
  13. Good luck! I am no master handyman by any stretch, but this tool allows me to do many things. Dave
  14. Got mine for Christmas 15 years ago or so. My wife asked me what it was good for. I said just do it and watch. She became a fan. WAY too useful to list here. Just used my router attachment to do a smooth, precision 1/8" wide and 1/4" deep slot in a 17" workpiece I made to replace a glass shelf in my fridge where the plastic mount had broken. Easy, a MUCH cheaper than buying another fridge. As to altering the speakers, I thought you said the pegs were too large? This should fix that without alteration to them. Dave
  15. Dremel tool. MUCH better option. If you don't have one, get one. Over the years I've gotten to the point I use mine frequently for all sorts of things. These bits will do it clean, neat and quick.
  16. Please post English translation rather than Chinese. I had a do a translation to ensure I should approve. Dave
  17. Incredible number of choices, new and vintage. Some very fine new ones at reasonable prices. Dave

    VW Deluxe buses

Folks, @Skelt told me via PM the two VWs belong to a neighbor in need. As he didn't mention it, I will. I will never warn or otherwise act against someone attempting to help another. My take on the TOS is that it's about profiteering from the Forum, not about helping others. Dave
