  1. A number of years ago when a squirrel found it's way down the chimney of my great aunt and uncles house my great uncle was all for going after it with his shotgun. Fortunately(for the squirrel) his wife convinced him that shooting a squirrel with a 12 gauge while inside the house wass not a good thing. Man would that have been a mess. Peace, Josh
  2. Saying that you prefer DTS over THX doesn't really make sense. THX is a set of standards. DTS is a method of encoding the sound. Comparing the two is definetely an apples/oranges kind of thing. As far as DTS goes since it is not a set of standards but an encoding method, you could have a DTS receiver that sounded aweful. Having a DTS receiver merely means that it can decode a DTS audio track. Peace, Josh
  3. There have been search engines like this available for at least the past 5 years. A buddy of mine and I discovered this one day at work and didn't think that much of it. Besides, Big Br... Oops, I mean, the gov't knows where you are anyway. Peace, Josh
  4. Between 90 and 100 dB depending on the situation. Extended periods of around 100 dB can be a little hard to take, this could be due to my SS yamaha amp. I'll take it up to around 110 when I have friends over and I'm showing off my beat up 22 year old speakers Peace, Josh
  5. Hmm, This is kind of wierd. My dad has an old knight amp that he is currently fixing up. If he gets it up and running by the time I go home on spring break there is a good chance that it might come to live with my heresies for a while. Just an odd coincidence. Peace, Josh

  7. It's always nice to hear someone who really knows their stuff give praise to the heresies. Peace, Josh
  8. My soundcaard has a digital output which I run to the input on my yamaha receiver. This sounds pretty good and to my ears sounds a little cleaner then using an analog 1/8" cable. Peace, Josh
  9. The Cornwall, Belle and LaScala are all about the same height. The only way the cornwall is going to be much taller then the other two is if it has a riser added to the bottom of the cabinet. Peace, Josh
  10. I listen to Elvis. He is the King of Rock & Roll. Peace, Josh
  11. I use Dean Markley blue steels on my 70's jazz bass. I don't have a lot of acid in my skin so I don't normally have that much trouble with guitar and bass strings wearing out right away but the blue steels do seem to last a long time. Peace, Josh
  12. Jim's right, www.fullsail.com I am currently attending here in the Digital Media program. The Recording Arts program here is considered one of the top in the country. Peace, Josh
  13. Thank you m00n. on that note, I'm gone. peace, Josh
  14. "Cane colored" grillcloth and "Cane" grillcloth are two different things are they not?? My personal opinion on the looks of the grillcloth is that cane throws black grillcloth under the bus Seriously though, I think that the black klipsch grillcloth on the heritage is kinda aweful. The weave on that stuff is so coarse that all kinds of dust gets in there. My beautiful brown jbl gril cloth on the otherhand is like an airtight seal when it comes to dust. My jbls had been sitting in storage for a few years before I got them, and while the outside was covered in dust, underneath the grill cloth looked brand new. Peace, Josh
  15. Hehe, That's a mighty nice car there buddy. I guess you don't have bose in there do ya?? I keep thinking I'm gonna call you one of these days to talk about having a some listening sessions but I'm so stinkin busy with school. Oh well, I hope your job situation works out soon(that goes for you too Jim). Peace, Josh
  16. I never can tell from the descriptions which is a black plate and which is a gray plate. Are the tubes below gray?, black?, I haven't a clue. Peace, Josh
  17. I'm not sure what kind of speakers my church(st. josephs catholic) here in orlando has but we do have a massive pipe organ that fills the santuary with beautiful sound. Maybe I'll take a picture of it and post it here for you pipe(organ) lovers. Peace, Josh
  18. My little brother has one of those Yamaha Silent Brass systems that seems to work pretty well. If you are in the next room when he's using it you can't even tell he's playing the trumpet at all. Peace, Josh
  19. More then one time while doing network cabling I had the ladder experience you mention only the item on the top of the ladder was a Cat5 punchdown tool. Actually the tool did hit me in the head one day, did no damage though, nothing up there to hurt Peace, Josh
  20. I used Adobe after effects 5.5 Actually I just did that last night. It took a few minutes to get everything on screen and then about anhour trying to tweak it just right to match the music. I'm taking an after effects class right now and I thought this would be some fun practice. I thought about making it longer because the music I used(Haydn #104 "london") repeats those opening chords once more with a slight variation before the rest of the orchestra comes in. Basically I was lazy and didn't want to spend too much time on it as I should be working on my class project(due tommorrow ) and I am only about half way done. As a bit of a warning, after effects can be more addictive than photoshop Peace, Josh
  21. The klipsch home theater experience is not truely complete unless you have a klipsch trailer to play in front of every movie the way that lucas guy does with that THX stuff. Seeing as how there weren't any I had to make mine myself. Imho I think it turned out kinda nice btw, it's about 2 meg so it might take a little bit to load. Peace, Josh
  22. I also have the radeon 8500(dual monitors rule) btw, my little tirade against the macs was not meant as anything personal. Peace, Josh
  23. kjohnsonhp, One Little Victory. Sweet Miracle. Vapor Trail. These are some of the tracks that I remember as liking a lot off of the Vapor Trails album. There are other good tracks on there but these are the only ones I that I remember the names of at the moment. btw, dean is right, this album has to be cranked to sound its best Peace, Josh

If you go up a few tax brackets on the mac side they might "far outperform" the lower priced pc's. I don't really see a mac outperforming by far a similarly priced pc. I use a mac nearly every day running Adobe After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator. The mac which is actually faster then my old computer at home is not noticeably faster. My old pc is a 750MHz PIII with 512 megs-O-ram, the mac's I use at school are 867Mhz G4 with 640 megs-O-ram, from the way people talk you would think that there would be a noticeable difference but there is not Peace, Josh
