  1. Thanks for all the comments. The open space was intentional, I tried the design with a larger logo at the top as well as larger text up top, all in all though the extra weight at the top took away some of the visual emphasis of the player itself. The logo was deliberately different from the actual sony logo as per project requirements(We have to do a new Logo for every project, even if it's not that much different), as far as being able to copy a logo from an image(we have digital cameras and scanners in lab) that's the easy part, the walkman/netMD/minidisc logos were drawn with the pen tool. The color scheme was kinda intended to provide a retro feel, another guy in my class did a blue mini disc player with blue tones for the background and it had a much more techno/corporate feel. About the romantic interest, a very good point indeed. However one I felt not entirely necessary for the marketing angle I was taking. btw, it took me long enough to draw the player, I'm not ready to draw people just yet Also if you could see two people pushing buttons on the player and see the joyful bliss on their faces I think the camera angle would require the player to appear rather small. Once again thanks for the constructive criticism. Even the things I would tend to disagree with I shall note for future refference. Peace, Josh
  2. Kelly keeps mentioning bracing so I'll ask a question. The backs on my heresies are only 1/2" plywood where the rest of the cabinet is 3/4". Would a stiffer back on the heresy be worth trying?? It seems to me that it would, I could make a replacement back and just swap one and do a left right comparison with the balance knob. Any thoughts? Peace, Josh
  3. Could the noise from the left woofer(12" btw and not 10") be something in your room making the noise. As for the subs being able to keep up, I think you just need a, RSW12 under each one I also noticed the sound improving when I got my heresies off the floor. Mine are stitting on some wood crates about 15" off of the floor, this puts the tweeters a few inches above ear level when I am slouched down on my couch. Peace, Josh

  5. This is just a project I did for the cg class I'm in. As someone who hopes to one day be a well to do graphic designer please let me know what you think. I have already turned this in to be graded but I can resubmit if I feel the need to change something This was done entirely inside of Adobe Illustrator 10, I used a photo for refference but the finished layout contains only original vector art by myself. btw, these things do sound pretty good for music on the go. Peace, Josh
  6. If they sold Mcintosh at Best Buy I would certainly be spending more time there. They sell JBL at BB and I still like JBL, just not what they sell at BB. Peace, Josh

The KSW series is reported to be much looser and more floppy sounding then the venerable RSW series. I have heard some good things about the Decware sub but I have never heard them in person. Peace, Josh
  8. If I hear a song on the radio that I completely detest, I change the station so I don't have to listen to it. I do the same thing in this forum, If there is a thread I don't like, I don't waste my time reading it and posting to it all weekend long. I used an Electrolux for a year or two when I was a janitor. They worked pretty well. Btw, QUIT making those comments about people from wisconsin. I'm a cheesehead myself. As a matter of fact I'm also only 21 and have only been on this BB for a few months, But who cares?? Oh well that's just my $0.02, time to go mess with the radio. Peace, Josh
  9. Oh man are you one lucky dude. Congratulations on the new horns. Just be careful not to blow your house apart ok Peace, Josh
  10. Stephen, I think all thats out at this point is NFS hot pursuit 2. I could be wrong. Didn't need for speed 4:High stakes come out a while ago? Peace, Josh
  11. I don't see the synergy line as being the "high end line" of speakers in BB While they may be the nicest in the store I don't see them as costing that much more than the JBL fake studio series. I also don't consider current JBL products to suck overall, The stuff in best buy sure isn't the top of the line that JBL has to offer. JBL still makes excellent products in the prosound area and of course they still sell(in japan) the 4312 and the like. Peace, Josh
  12. Bucking magnets are available at parts express. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&User_ID=11338584&St=8921&St2=-49430319&St3=58848764&DS_ID=3&Product_ID=5567&DID=7 Peace, Josh
  13. After reading the post by Joshua Ryan Hall it looks like the synergy line is going to be sold at best buy and the reference series will be available through your high end stores. So you have nothing to worry about, Your RF5's won't be available at best buy so you can still feel elite if you want to Fwiw, all of my speakers I currently own(except for my center channel which I hardly ever use) are over 20 years old. So you could say I have an unavailable sort of an elitist setup, the truth is that I am a tightfisted scrooge who doesn't feel like paying for a pair of new speakers. It's not like they really wear out so unless I blow them being stupid which I don't see happening I should be set for a good long while. Now about those tube amps... Peace, Josh
  14. I bought my yamaha reciever there. I find it hard to get a good listen at best buy, even the ones with the semi removed listening area. Oh well, by the time i'm in the market for new speakers Again I will propably be getting some used khorns. Peace, Josh
  15. Who cares where they are sold? There wasn't a tweeter in my hometown until sometime within the past year. As it is I have never heard a single pair of klipsch in a store. What made me want to buy a pair can be traced to two things. 1. John Albrights killer system that he was kind enough to let me and my dad come over and listen to for an afternoon. 2. A single heresy hanging on a tree in a park as part of the sound reinforcement for an outdoor concert. Not wanting to be associated with something because it is easily available or popular makes you as much of(if not more so) a slave to the pop culture mall crowd that it seems like you are trying so harrd to avoid. If you really wanted to be anal about it you could just say "hey check out the serial numbers I've got on my speakers, they are from before klipsch was common in stores". Don't let it worry you dude. Klipsch makes great speakers. If you really don't want those rf5's I'd be glad to make some room at my place for them. Peace, Josh btw, I have plenty of blank t-shirts
  16. As far as the coaxial thing goes, typically you would not be running it out of the reciever so much as into the reciever. Out of the DVD player is more likely. Coaxial is just a digital signal on an rca jack (or sometimes a bnc). Some recievers and DVD/CD players have an optical digital jack that uses the Toslink style fiber optic cable. There are people who would argue that a Coaxial digital connection sounds better than an Optical digital connection, I tend to think that if it's a digital connection it does not make a difference. As to whether or not a coaxial connection is "better" then an rca connection would depend on the DAC(Digital to Analog Converter) in your reciever. Some DVD players happen to have a six channel(5.1) output on the back as well to be used with recievers that do not do the surround decoding themselves but do have a six channel input(often labeled as external decoder) and the speaker outputs to match. For myself I would not be chasing after something to play mp3's as I don't think they sound that great at all. Back in the day I thought mp3's were the best thing since sliced bread. I would listen to them on my little plastic computer speakers and I thought they sounded just like CD quality audio. The truth of the matter was that CD's sounded just like mp3 quality when played through those little speakers, even a good turntable would propably sound like junk when played through them. Once I got some real speakers hooked up to my computer I was able to hear the difference. That being said the high bit rate mp3's (256 on up) don't sound to bad. Oh well just my $0.02 Peace, Josh
  17. I would go with that new carrera gt over the benz slr on looks alone. It would be nice to see some real pics of the gt. Nobody has mentioned any italian cars yet. What about the venerable FIAT X1/9 This is a car that almost any one can afford. For the price of one of those expensive german cars you could have a different FIAT for every day of the month. Peace, Josh
  18. I'm glad to hear you are feeling better. We're all pulling for you Peace, Josh
  19. Han shoots first. Why yes he did! That's just the kind of guy he is. Peace, Josh
  20. Kenratboy, To start with I'm going to school here www.fullsail.com If things go as planned I will be making the good money as a graphic designer in a few years. My school has a very high job placement rate and the Digital Media/Graphic Design industry is one that has been growing at a faster than normal rate for a good while now. Not only that but I enjoy this kind of stuff, you know what they say, "if you have a job you love, you won't have to work a day in your life". Seriously though, a porsche turbo is likely going to be on the back burner for a while after I get out of college since I will be paying off student loans. Of course there are more klipsch to be acquired along the way as well Peace, Josh
  21. ---------------- On 2/11/2003 11:48:48 PM kenratboy wrote I bet I will be the first person on the forum to have a Porsche Turbo though ---------------- Oh Yeah!! We'll have to see about that. btw, tresspasserguy, what kind of flat screen do you have? Peace, Josh
  22. Happy Birthday dude Many happy returns of the day. Peace, Josh
  23. I don't think the PS2 is that bad for playing DVD's. I have not watched it side by side with other DVD players so I guess I could not say for sure about the picture quality. The quality of the picture is affected a good deal depending on what output cable you use. When I switched from the stock composite video cable to a monster s-video cable the picture improvement was unbelievable. Items and menus on DVD's and games that used to be rather fuzzy are now bright and crisp. I suppose if I wanted to I could get the component video cable but I suspect that I would not see as much of an improvement as before. Btw, PS2's are only hard to play DVD's on if you don't know what you are doing. Peace, Josh
