  2. Here is a pic I took of a bridge that features some mighty fine dwellin spots for those of us who like to move around. http://bellsouthpwp.net/I/n/Invidiosulus/images/gallery/bridge.jpg It is actually kinda hard to hang around this bridge at night cuz they have park rangers who will chase you off. Peace, Josh
  3. To make a long story short(thats a good thing) I caught a stomach bug this week and missed 2 days of class which means I have 16 hours of makeup work ahead of me. I got dehydrated yesterday morning so I ended up in the hospital with an IV pumping "lunch" into me for a few hours. The good news is I seem to be on the mend, I realized I felt bad when I didn't even feel like turning on the ol stereo. As soon as I did start listening to music today I began to feel better almost at once I'm not sure if there is much of a point to this thread I just thought I'd throw it out there. Peace, Josh

  5. I don't know much about the DJ scene but I think I heard that DJbaby anne uses Numark tables exclusively. Peace, Josh

  7. I bought a Sound Blaster Live for $20 used. It has a digital out that I run to my reciever from time to time. Works pretty well for $20. Peace, Josh
  8. I thought the joke was kinda funny. Personally I've never used a chainsaw but I have had some time with a splitting maul. I went from using a $5 maul from ACE hardware to using a hollow fibre-glass handled model that Gerber/Fiskars makes. Suddenly splitting a 2 foot thick piece of white oak about 2 and a half feet across was easy. I also have a hanforged Gransfors-Bruks(sp?) axe which I have used on some smaller trees on our property. We had a dogwood tree with a rotted out trunk section so I felled it and was chopping the limbs off with the axe and I found I could cut through a healthy 3" branch in a single swipe with that thing. You just have to keep those things away from your toes. Peace, Josh
  9. Tom, That means you are selling your JBL sub cabinets?? You must be serious about this. Peace, Josh
  10. I'm in school to be a graphic designer so I guess I could still continue in that field and make money. I'd just have to find something other than enjoying music as a hobby. btw, I also miss that lower case "k". Peace, Josh

  12. OW, That looks really painful there m00n. I'm not sure weather or not to thank you for the pics as they are kind of violent don't you think A few years ago during the winter I was moving some pine logs about 18" thick and about 8 feet long by my self one day and I slipped and plopped over a log and landed right on my wrist. Boy did that hurt, I actually saw red and thought for a minute I was gonna pass out. The funny thing was I did not break anything in the usual sense, in the X-ray you could see where one of the bones in my right wrist had compressed about a quarter of an inch without really cracking. The only reason I could figure was that I had milk allergy at the time so I was propably low on calcium. Apparently instead of getting brittle my bones got squishy. I hope you get to feeling better. btw, it's amazing the sympathy you can draw just by having a cast Peace, Josh
  13. That was some nice electronica in that first link there Kelly, But my word what was that in the second link. No offense but I thought my heresies were going to mold and rot when I started playing that one. Here is a song that I used to prove to my friend the shortcomings of the loud-media speakers. http://bellsouthpwp.net/I/n/Invidiosulus/library/blue_man_group_tension.wma My friend looked at me as if I was trying to kill his PM4.1's The best part was I had just heard this on John Albright's system with 4 LaScalas and his massive subs. note, the above link will only be active for a day or two. Peace, Josh
  14. Craig, To my ears I can hear a difference between a CD and a CD made from high bit rate MP3 files. I would prefer to not listen to MP3's as I don't think they sound as good as original or direct copied CD's. With the higher bit rate MP3's it's not something that jumps out at me immediately the way hearing something on a cheap cassette tape does but there is a difference to me in the presentation of the high end. I seem to hear a little more air around things such as guitarists fingers squeaking on the strings or the sound of vocalists inhaling between lines. Acoustic guitars seem to have a slightly duller attack and seem lacking in harmonic overtones. All of these things together add up when I am listening to music just for the sake of listening. Believe me there are a number of MP3's that I have on my computer that I will have playing whilst doing computer work, although during the day I usually just crank up some vinyl on the klipsch so I can hear it in my room. Like I said, this is just my opinion on what I hear. I may just be kinda picky(or mental) I'm sorry if I came across as being an @$$ about this. Peace, Josh
  15. Prodj101, You are certainly going to give the bose crowd a run for their money with this thing. Peace, Josh
  16. Umm, I think you mean 2000 Hz. 2000 MHz would be 2,000,000,000 Hz. Nobody can hear that high. I think I can still hear up to about 18,500 Hz or 18.5KHz Peace, Josh
  17. I can not hear a difference between a pressed CD and a burned disc to disc copy. I was curious so I just listened to some of the burned copies of CD's that I keep in my truck, I even burned a copy of a copy and I still can't tell a difference An MP3 does indeed discard information, once that info is gone it is never coming back. Between MP3's and CD's there is no comparison, I can hear the difference between a 256Kbps MP3 and a 192Kbps MP3 quite easily. The MP3 codec is based on the human hearing range, the first things to be cut out as you lower the bit rate are the frequencies at the upper and lower range of human hearing. Some of the first things to go are cymbals and other things in the high end while the bass typicaly becomes rather weak. I hate to say it but as far as sound quality goes, MP3's suck like a leech. btw, for burning CD's I use Ahead software's NERO burning ROM v.5 and an ASUS 48x CDR/RW drive. Peace, Josh
  18. Movies do have music, but like all the sound on DVD's(even DTS) it is a greatly compressed audio format much like an MP3, and we know how those sound. Peace, Josh
  19. Scarily enough, this is actually the third or fourth time I have seen the musicaly gifted man come up as a topic on a BB. Somebody brought him up on a celtic music forum awhile back as well as an art forum I was on. It kinda makes you wonder if there is anyone like that out there today Peace, Josh

  21. You guys are right, Most broadcast facilities have way more cables then I would like to think about. Here is a pic of a small portion of the cables we had at work. http://bellsouthpwp.net/I/n/Invidiosulus/images/gallery/nest.jpg This rack in particular stayed a mess because we were moving things so constantly. Peace, Josh
  22. Hehe, Some firewater would be nice. My cables are actually fairly neat, I just can't stand having cables all messy. I used to do network cabling LOL, you don't know pain until you've had to punch down a color coded one hundred pair phone cable. Running phone cables for a four story dormitory gets fun also, thirty or so rooms on each floor, two or more lines to each room... I plan to have pics of my system as well as the rats nest behind it up sometime soon. Peace, Josh
  23. Malolm is right, Most B stock stuff is just fine. I have seen a number of amps and pro audio gear sold as B stock and it has been fine and dandy. A number of pro audio places sell floor models as B stock. These pieces usually have very few hours on them and maybe only a slight cosmetic setback but a big savings monetary wise for you. Peace, Josh
