  1. TV- What chapter in Super Speedway can I find bass info. below 20Hz??? Please be specific, I have that DVD and would like to use that portion for the Demo for friends. Thanks
  2. Afraid, go with the Marantz SR-8000 instead of the 7000 if you can afford it. I think maybe $200 more.... I found mine for $950 at Uncle's. The remote with the SR-8000 is awesome and the 8000 has some added features that should not be under-estimated. I've had mine for 8 months and it keeps sounding better. Build quality is awesome, tuner portion is flawless. DD and DTS, 105 x 5 wpc with 5-ch stereo. I'm running KLF-30's, C7, KSp-S6's and a KSW-15 and KSW-100 and there is absolutely no hiss or noise out of my speakers from this unit at idle or otherwise. Did I say that the Marantz is whisper quiet and I can't tell if it has a fan.....seriously. Good luck
  3. Domain, try these two items to improve sub output: 1) Be sure to buy/use the Y-splitter to the R/L inputs on your KSW-10/12/or 15. According to Klipsch this will provide a +6Db increase in output. 2) Try running speaker line level inputs and compare to single monster coax cable with splitter. Good luck
  4. Back to the dampening topic, I own KLF-30's and C7 center.....Would I apply dampening materials such as Dynamat or rope caulk to the back/throat of BOTH the tweeter and Mid-range horns?? Is the "Squawker" the mid-range or tweeter?? Thanks
  5. It is DTS hands down over DD for me....I heard it first and then researched/compared it on-line and live in my HT. It was most noticeable in the rear surround channels where normally I am tweaking my KSP-S6 rears up in the levels to try and keep up with my KLF-30 fronts and C7 center. Although the best overall soundtrack has to be Toy Story 1 or 2, both in DD, not DTS....either one is best-in-class.
  6. BTW, 22 x 22 room is quite large...I would not use the Quintets in that room and expect too much excitement. I would suggest stepping up to the Synergy System 6 at least for maybe $200 more approx.
  7. See my post on Quintets in this section called "Speaker dilemma". Klipsch 10, 12 or 15 will work great, actually the 10 or 12 should be enough bass unless you hang out with Seb. Quintets are great for HT and very average with 2-ch stereo.
  8. Be careful buying the Quintets from any auction site.... they have a matching center channel that came only when you purchased a complete five speaker system in the factory box. It is my understanding that Klipsch does not sell just the center alone for the Quintet satellites. Also, the Quintets with a sub are great for HT in a small/medium room but are very average at best for 2 channel music. Good Luck
  9. Check out the Toshiba SD-4205 Cinema Series 5-disc changer...I've had it for almost 90 days and I can't find anything to complain about. It has DD/DTS and HDCD decoding also Coax digital out as well as PCM Digital out and 5.1 analog outputs and component video and very nice remote (not backlit though) wait I did find something to complain about...... Check it out at Onecall.com for around $339.
  10. I own the new Marantz SR-8000 and love it...I would call Marantz America direct and ask their tech service for reputable local guys near you OR maybe they will let you send it back to them and have it Factory refurbished.....That would be possible based on my experience with Marantz. Brett
  11. Aaron, right on. Build quality and performance/reliability are the most important to me. Features are expected. The Marantz SR8000 has a true 5-ch stereo also that I highly underestimated and now probably overuse.
  12. Top of TV 51" Seated Ear Height 42" Seated Ear to Screen 12 feet **The base of my KLF-C7 is at 64" (top of entertainment center) and toed down towards listener sweet spot. Info e-mailed to Trey also.
  13. The Marantz SR8000.....It has the best features, build quality, sound quality and remote for $950US if you shop around. 105 X 5 WPC, DD& DTS and did I mention a Killer Remote (RC2000)
  14. Two great ones, I can't get enough of: Dave Matthews Band- Listener Supported Santana- Supernatural
  15. Craig, exactly. This is how I have found the best performance from Klipsch subs. I believe Trey Cannon from Klipsch adddressed this sefveral months back in this section. Should provide +6 Db if I recall. I also use speaker level inputs, don't know if it is necessary anymore as I did that first then the Y-splitter. All I know is they both pound quite well. Brett
  16. Craig- BTW, you can't fix your KSW-10 or it's not under warranty??
  17. Yeah, I finally did it. I am using the KSw-100 for my rear sub as described above, it was from my quintet system that is currently in a box. It is awesome now with the KSw-15 up front and KSw-100 in the rear. Toy story 1 & 2 sound incredible (Gotta keep the kids happy). Go for it. Brett
  18. I'm sick of "vile" marketing practices....Bose has mastered that and I can't take any more.
  19. Craig, I have klf-30's klf-c7, ksp-s6's, ksw-15 up front and ksw-100 for rear sub. The ksw-15 is awesome for the money. Make sure you use y-splitter for L & R inputs on sub to get additional output. Add a sub for the rears to it is worth it and you don't need a 15" back there a 10 or 12" will work great with the S6's.
  20. My vote goes for the KLF-30's compared to RF-3's. I have not heard Heresy's though. I am biased though owning KLF-30's. See my more detailed post under "almost kicked my heresys" in this category.
  21. cfritzke- So what did you think about the KLF-30's vs. the Rf-3's??? For me it was no contest the KLF-30's are a much more dynamic "lifelike" speaker. The Legend line has received a lot of praise from many and complaints from a few. I personally find mine awesome. Tom- Check out the KLF-20's or KLF-30's before buying the RF-3's My system: KLF-30's, KLF-C7, KSP-S6's, KSW-15 up front, KSW-100 rear sub, Marantz SR-8000, Toshiba SD-4205 DVD, Pioneer PDF-1007 301-CD Changer and Mitsubishi 35" TV & VCR
  22. Believe it, next time your car audio shop is having a Db Drag race check it out, if for nothing else to see, hear and feel some serious bass and overall sonic bliss systems. Last time I was at one I watched a guy put about 10 quarters on the roof of his beater and then rolled up the windows and remote triggered his system with a bass demo disc......the quarters popped like popcorn at least an inch or two in the air and then he topped that when the back window spider webbed. Absurd, maybe.... entertaining, definitely.
  23. HTADDICT-Welcome to the Klipsch BB...All the info is right on regarding sub hookups. I have the KLF30's, C7, KSP-S6's and a KSW-15 and a KSW-100 for the rears. I use Monster Cable all the way around (14 GA.) and Monster sub interconnects with the Y-Splitter. I also found bi-wiring helped my KLF-30's and I used speaker level inputs on my subs also (Speaker wires running in parallel to front mains for KSW-15 and parallel to rears for KSW-100. My brother is stationed at Mindrot AFB , excuse me , Minot AFB, are you in the AF or do you just love the cold?
  24. 4977- I got my Monster Cable in-wall wire at my local dealer (Audio-Video Systems, Novi, MI) I bought over 450 feet so I got a price of around $0.65/foot. This wire is excellent to work with, it pulls very easy and my electrician/installer was impressed with it, and it sounds great too.
  25. My entire system is wired using Monstercable 14 gauge, 4 conductor, CL3-Fire Rated wire. Multiple runs are in the sheetrock/drywall to Niles wall mounted speaker plates and under the floor joists. I am very pleased with it and it sounds just fine with my KLF-30's, C7, KSP-S6's, KSW-15 and KSW-100.
