  1. Oh yeah... those twins are going home with me! Dang, I was just in Missouri this weekend. I wonder if those tops swivel. Looks like they might since they're a bit smaller than the bass bins.
  2. Screw 'em!! That's what I say. What of the ignorant a-holes that give their stuff to Goodwill and you go in and pick it up for a few lousy bucks; come on the forum and we all praise you and are not-so-secretly jealous that we didn't score that deal. Everybody is looking for a good deal that's why people go to garage sales, estate sales, thrift stores, etc. It's all based on peoples own ignorance of what somethings worth. You ever watch Antique Roadshow? If you don't have any sense of what your own possesions are worth, then they must not mean much to you at all. Quit bein' such Bi'atches and give Vette a break!!
  3. It's probably location. They're just outside Chicago. There does seem to be a surge in price of Heritage on ebay. Now maybe the time to sell!!!
  4. It's a bass bin to a Klipschorn. Just add a midhorn, tweet, crossover, and a corner and you have a stellar mono speaker.
  5. shload, that's good to know!! I was considering a new CDP. I went to the Rega website and didn't even see the Planet; just the Jupiter and the Apollo. If the Apollo will sell for $995, what's the Jupiter going to sell for?
  6. It does suck a lot harder than it used to. How do you search all topics started by one person. You used to be able to click their avatar and then click posts by_________ and it would give you their last 10 posts. Now it gives you d*ck!
  7. I know, but what I meant was $1100 CDN.
  8. Thank goodness they'll fit in the Explorer. I really didn't want to cruise the minivan. There are plenty of casinos out that way, too. hmmmmm.....
  9. While we're looking for people; what happened to Parrot??
  10. Yep, thems the ones. I was hoping to be able to lay them both down after folding the rear seat down. I was asking earlier for the size to see if they'd fit in my Olds Intrigue. They almost fit, but I don't want to risk it.
  11. Well, it looks like I'll be off to Kansas for a pair of 80ish WO Belles. I rented an Explorer and we're headed out Fri. night. I can't wait. I have the best woman in the world, too. She's willing to go on a 20 hour car ride for "more speakers" on her birthday no less. She's awesome. I think I'm going to stop off in St. Louis and check out the Arch. Is there anything else of great interest in St. Louis or Kansas City? How about a fine restaruant or a very nice high end audio boutique. Anything I shouldn't miss???
  12. Now Dales I would give $1100 for!! Those are really pretty. You can't go wrong with chrome.
  13. Welcome back. A few things have changed around here. The following excerpt was written by maxg and should catch you up. "One or 2 minor changes is all: Instead of recommending tubes we now recomend Solid state pro amps for your Khorns. Minimum wattage has been up'ed from 3.5 watts to 350 watts. The new paradigm for purchasing a pair of speakers - rather than simply connecting them and learning what you do and do not like whilst building up some knowledge along the way is to leap straight into crossover design, amplifier selection and the benefits or otherwise of cork-sealing the speakers into the wall whilst discussing the relative merits of pro-amps Vs tubes. It doesnt matter how old an X-over is parts replacement is a waste of time. Testing replacement X-overs can be done on a single speaker in 5 minutes. Everyone listens at minimum SPL's of 110 dB and needs at least another 15 for peaks. All DVD's boast a 24 bit soundtrack capable of 144 dB dynamic range - that crappy compressed sound you are hearing is entirely due to your underpowered amps (see item 2 above). Nobody needs an SPL meter for measuring the SPL's covered in 6 above - this can be done entirely by eye using a $5 meter and a cattleprod. Just hold the prod near the speaker and press the button - the voltage swing on the meter can be measured as a reasonable guess as to the watts you are using which can then be turned into dB. The forum's definition of success is to be a deaf millionaire lawyer." Funny everytime!
  14. I saw those on A'gon. I thought they were a little pricy for Mark IIIs. You have to really like the color scheme I suppose. Craig, what's wrong with the performance of Mark IIIs?
  15. If this deal goes through, that is a definite maybe!!
  16. I was wondering if a Belles will fit in my car or will I have to rent a van. I drive an Olds Intrigue and I'm sure one will fit in the backseat, but i don't know if I can lay one down in the trunk.
  17. Soooooooo.... you guys think I overpaid???[]
  18. I'm very interested, but the color scheme didn't come up. Do you have pics of the actual rack?
  19. I think those are for replacing. The iron is what would be cost prohibitive. I don't think a regular Joe w/ a soldering iron could build an amp with just those pc boards to start. Can you read a schematic?
  20. Have you guys seen this? Geesh, for $500.00 you could get a real tube amp! http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Zvex-iMP-Amp-Tube-Stereo-hi-fi-Power-Amplifier-ipod_W0QQitemZ5848820304QQcategoryZ39783QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
