They don't belong to me,but are 4N747 & 10R899.

Where do I find the year of manufacture of LaScalas, listed by serial numbers?I've searched this site, but not the right spot, apparently. SSH

It's difficult to know what is mixed well until you buy it.Multi-channel SACD can be a stunningly beautiful format. SSH

Diss, Congratulations. You'll get years of enjoyment from your quality system. You'll probably bring-in some Klipsch converts, too.Enjoy! SSH

Kelly, Jeff forewarned me to buy them only from JAC,as there were apparently some quality control issues. SSH

I received a pr of AVVT 2A3 Meshplates from JAC Music yesterday.OMG,they open up the soundstage & have pinpoint detail.Jeff told me they would add a new demension,& I'm sooo happy I took his advice.I noticed the difference between some of the audience's opened & some closed-handed clapping in Waltz For Debbie & Jazz At The Pawnshop. It may be that I just hadn't attended to that before, and one need not listen for detail to hear a marked improvement with the sound of these tubes.Dark Side OF The Moon was almost too much fun.Wow.The AVVT spec sheet suggested to listen at low, varying volume at first,so I mostly listened at about 60& 70db,10-12ft from the Kornerhorns,& not over 80db(except peaks).I probably won't be able to resist cranking them up after another couple of hours.Crocodile Rock, maybe. ED, Beautiful amp.I wondered how closely ours resembled.I will eventually post a pic. SSH

Kelly, 1.Someone locked the gate we were going to go through. As I unlocked a door with my left hand,I turned the knob with the key-left,then right.when I turned it right,it came out of the knob while I was pulling on it.I fell backwards half a step & the amp,on my right shoulder, fell forward onto my outstretched right shin.It skidded down my shin & landed on a doormat. All three tubes rolled across the mat & down the cement walk, bending pins on them & breaking the alignment peg off of the Mullard GZ37.I was in pain, even though I was in disbelief. You see,we had spent two days figuring out why the other amp wasn't putting out volume,& had just soldered a break to fix it.So I didn't see how the 'good' amp,now with questionable characteristics, would possibly play.I picked up my parts, went home & hooked it up,all the tubes went bright,& I danced on both legs. 2.I made most degrading remarks aloud to myself, about myself.Of course,Hal was standing there,& come to think of it,he didn't contradict a word I said. The crate did a great job.No dents, just one break at a solder joint. It will become an antique.

Rob, Craig gets kudos from many of us,often. He's a valuable asset to the forum,&,as you say, does fine work.Glad to hear you got the improved sound. SSH

Jeff, It is an experientially proven fact that the Zebrawood dampens & dissipates gravitationaly prompted mechanically induced vibrations transmited through the copper top plate sufficiently to allow for perfect sonic reproduction to occur. Greg, I wasn't too shy to go to the bank for these.I imagine your reluctance had more to do with the look of love. SSH

Yep.Right channel amp has a Navajo mark on the copper top plate. My right shin didn't fare so well.I had no idea that glass vacuum tubes were so durable. SSH
-
Yep.Great system.Of course you're not there to read this now-You're on your way to see your nice salesman.Good job, avman! SSH

Welcome to the Forum. What did you get? SSH

Dave, Thanks for posting this.I've been thinking about an amp selector switch.I'll check out the Niles switches. SSH

I got Jeff Lessard's SET amps in 2A3 form Friday. After some advice from Jeff and help from my friend Hal Munford,I heard them Sunday afternoon.I feel a little like I broke the sound barrier. These are beautiful Zebrawood-clad amps,so it's no surprise that they sound good;the surprise is how good.I hope his new PP project can equal or best what I hear from these amps, because Jeff deserves it. I've listened through the Khorns & LaScalas, both producing delicious detail. There's plenty of power with either pr of speakers. I'm using a Cary 2002 preamp that's also new to me.The headphone section is a real plus. Thanks,Jeff. My friends & I are happy. SSH

Search Omnimount on your internet search engine. My RC7s weigh 40lbs & I use a 60lb rated under mount. SSH

Good news,Jim.Hang in.Bi Polar is much better understood now,& there's lots of info available. SSH

In response to Allan Songer's thread about solos that continue to blow the mind, the most impressive solo I ever heard was live.In the mid seventies,Jose Feliciano played at Louisiana Tech University. After playing Hendrix's Fire_ on electric guitar,he stunned the crowd by playing both parts to Dueling Banjos_,full throttle,on acoustic guitar.Feliciano was the only one in the place not standing. Gilbert, Many of us are listening to Scott gear rebuilt by Craig(www.nosvalves.com).Craftsmanship & value IMO. SSH

nodi, I agree with m00n.My experience with factory reconditioned equipment has been good.No problems with a Marantz 300 CD file. SSH

Recommend contact for cheap Monster Cables
ssh replied to Gordon_Freeman's topic in General Klipsch Info
Know exactly( series description, product number,& list price) which cable you most want, next want, would use, etc. and search Audiogon & Ebay.Don't be in a hurry, and plan.I spent months doing this & saved over two thousand dollars on Monster Cable products.A lot of that time was wasted looking for great internet store deals.Like the above posts say,you may save a little that way,but not much. When you see a really good deal,be sure it's what you think it is-many Monster products are similar, but not the same.Have fun. dodger, There are many more options, but since I enjoy multiple formats, and am new to tubes(grew up listening to them, though)myself,I don't see multichannel as encroachment.Like language, music is dynamic, and WOW! what a great time to do audio . SSH

middlecreekguy, Yeah, they are a sophisticated outfit. It's a great way to spend money, though. They have good selection in jazz.I'd really like to find a good R&R SACD source myself. SSH
